FINAL IMPORT APPROVAL OF ANY PRODUCT IS SUBJECT TO THE IMPORTING COUNTRY S RULES AND REGULATIONS AS INTERPRETED BY BORDER OFFICIALS AT THE TIME OF PRODUCT ENTRY. According to this regultion, ll imported food from the U.S. intended to be consumed by Muslims must certified hll by one the JAKIM-pproved Islmic centers in the U.S. (http://www.hll.gov.my/v3/index.php/ms/senri-bdn-islm-yng-diiktirf) The regultion become effective Jnury 1, 2012. s hotel nd food service sector is incresingly demnding hll certified food. The hll certificte must ccompny the shipment nd the products must be lbeled with n pproved Islmic Center s hll logo on the pckging. All met nd livestock products (except pork) imported into must be certified hll nd the products must originte from slughterhouses which hve been inspected nd pproved by the Deprtment ry Services (DVS) nd religious uthorities (JAKIM Deprtment Islmic Development ). An Islmic Center pproved by JAKIM must supervise the slughter nd processing nd issue the hll certificte for met nd poultry. The Islmic Center must be listed by the pcking plnt on the originl JAKIM ppliction form or the ppliction must be ppropritely mended to mke use new Islmic Center. On July 1, 2011, DVS imposed n inspection requirement on pork bttoirs for ll exporting countries nd only pork products from pproved bttoirs cn be imported into. Helth certifictes ccompnying shipments must include n estblishment number plnt the DVS hs pproved. As the end 2011, DVS hd not yet pproved ny U.S. pork plnts. Due to the detection BSE in the United Sttes in 2003, DVS still bns on bovine proteins such s bone mel, met mel, bone mel, blood mel, ho mel nd horn mel nd other feeding stuffs (including pet food), premixes nd feed dditives contining the bove products.
