PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Our club s Steak Night event on Saturday, June 27th was a big success thanks to all the effort put out by our club members. Those in attendance loved the soup and salad bar and asked that we do it again. Gladys and I were so sorry to miss Steak Night, we found out the Wednesday night before that we had to go to St Petersburg. Behind the scene at Steak Night were our Grill Masters, Ray and Charlie Parrott manning the club s BBQ grill, and they did an awesome job. I also must thank Mary Dicaro and Susan Kenny for planning the menu, making the soup and helping our chef Dottie Brown in all phases of bringing the dinner to the table for your dining pleasure. What a great team they make as our Kitchen Management Committee. Thanks to Jeff and Jeanette Houseman for manning the front desk and checking the diners in. To David Souza, our new Events Chairman, and Tracie Maler for putting together the fun Trivia game and keeping things lively. Mary Dicaro has been doing a fantastic job with our club rentals; they are a big part of our income. I must thank Mary for all the hard work she does and the hours she puts in with club rentals, it is a very hard, thankless job. Frank Dicaro also gets kudos for keeping the bar and lounge running smoothly. It is another major income source for the club. He handles all liquor orders and deliveries, and buys the necessary supplies that keep our thirsty members happy. My thanks also go out to Denise Holland for handling our reservation system and emailing out flyers for our dinners and events so members can easily make their reservations. Remember, if you have to cancel a reservation that you have made it needs to be done 24 hours in advance of the start of the event or you will be charged emergencies excepted. Make your reservations ASAP as Wednesday, July 1st is the last day for reservations for our Independence Day BBQ on the 4th. David Souza has planned a fun day with outdoor games of Horseshoes and Corn Toss/Hole for those with competitive spirits. We will be serving the BBQ inside and our music/entertainment will be inside for those who want to keep cool. Bring a lawn chair to watch the fireworks from our seawall; they will be going off all over Hernando Beach starting about 9pm. Again Gladys and I will not be there for this event; every year for the 4th of July we make an annual trip to Indiana to visit her family. The club is also planning a new event for late July, a raftup day in the flats or shallows off of the Hernando Beach channel. This will involve members with boats taking other members without boats out to the flats area and anchoring there for a fun day. Wear your swimsuit and bring your own snacks and drinks. We will be asking who amongst our members have boats and can take other members out in their boat plus a sign up sheet for those who want to participate. The club has boat docks so members can come to the club to park their cars and those with boats can pick them up at the docks. The club has not done this since 2008, see the photo from 9-21-2008! I look forward to seeing all of you back at our club! Cal Holland
