There were four categories: optical design and simulations, optical devices, optical systems and optical technology. Also, the chapter members are much honored that famous scholars, Prof. James C. Wyant, Prof. Pochi Yeh, and Prof. K. Itoh gave all the conference participants including the members lectures during the conference. For more information and details, please see http://www.odf08.tw
Announcement of ODF 08 in Taipei, Taiwan
Prof. James C.Wyant, Univ. Arizona / USA was invited to our department and chapter at June 12. It helped our member learn more about the development direction of optics technology. The officers of our chapter were really glad to take pictures with Prof. James C.Wyant, and talked with him. Prof. James C.Wyant and the students of NCU SPIE student chapter Some of the chapter members have submitted papers to SPIE Optics & Photonics conference. The chapter student, Mr. Kwang-Yao Chai was the student representative and applied for the officer travel grant to attend the conference. Thin film and PV technology symposium and The Lighting Displays Technology and Color Sciences symposium was held on August 19 20, 2008. Many of our chapter members carried out this activity. It was a good chance for us to think from different points of view.
Details of planned activities for the future: The SPIE NCU student chapter does the best to support conference holding and other activities (ex. sport competition).the Optics and Opto-electronics Sport competition will be held in the National Central University on April 11-12, 2009, Taiwan. For more information and details, please see http://ncuopcup.serveftp.net/opcup/. The training courses of coating technology will be held in summer or fall. The training courses will be the 10 th short term training of optical coating with our chapter s help. Ph. D students will be the lecturers as usual.
