Ever since British novelist Christopher Isherwood chronicled his experiences in Berlin s underground during the Weimar Republic years the city has been considered the capital of cabaret. Featuring songs by Kurt Weill, Brecht, Gershwin and Kander and Ebb. The fabulous Mary Carewe has wowed audiences worldwide, appearing as a soloist in New York s Carnegie Hall, Berlin s Philharmonie and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, as well as London s Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall. She starred in the James Bond 50th Anniversary Gala Concert on BBC4, and has appeared over 75 times on BBC Radio 2 s Friday Night Is Music Night. As a concerto soloist Ben Dawson has appeared and broadcast with many prestigious orchestras including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the Sinfonia of Birmingham. His most unexpectedly glamorous appearance (audio only sadly...) was as the soloist in Gershwin s Rhapsody in Blue in Baz Luhrmann s film adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
