Garth Hotel Malt Whisky Selection Islay Malts Ardbeg 10 yr old 46% 5.50 Do not be fooled by its pale colour. Full-on peat reek with this malt. Smooth and smoky with a little medicinal bite. Bowmore 12 yr old 40% 3.50 Complex and more subtle that the more Southern Islay malts. Smoky but not medicinal with toffee notes. Bunnahabhain 12 yr old 40% 5.00 Light in colour and in body. Slightly salty with just a whiff of smoke. Delicate enough for the afternoons! Laphroaig 10 yr old 40% 6.45 Peat smoke, diesel oil and iodine are the main traits. Not for the fainthearted! Lagavulin 16 yr old 43% 5.00 Dry, toasty and exotic. A blend of dried fruit, spices and a peaty richness. Slightly sherried. Ledaig 10 yr old 46.3% 4.50 Soft peat with a gentle smoke on the nose. The palate has notes of spice and smoke gathering above the charred oak. The peat is quiet and dry with a touch of black pepper and earth. Isle of Jura Isle of Jura 10 yr old 40% 3.50 Light peat and diesel oil on the nose. Relatively light with hints of sweet citrus and fruit ending on a dry, nutty finish. Isle of Jura Superstition 43% 4.50 Firm and positive yet mellow. Rich, sensual notes of honey and marzipan. Isle of Jura Prophecy 46% 7.00 Peat, aniseed and oil aromas with a smoky, dry palate, a muscular, powerful Jura with notes of nutmeg, cardamom, sea spray. Coal tar. The finish has good length with punchy dry peat smoke and herbal notes. Campbeltown Springbank 12 yr old 46% 5.00 Light in colour yet rich in flavour. Citrus, pear and a little peat. Clean yet rich and full on the finish. Glen Scotia 10 yr old 40% 4.50 The nose is quite light and soft. There are hints of the coast with sherried peels and Madeira, notes of winter spice and wood oils. The palate is of medium-body with a good balance. There are notes of salty melted butter and hints of sultanas and vanilla. Glen Scotia 16 yr old 40% 6.45 A malty, spicy nose with biscuit hints. A wonderfully creamy malt with a lovely honeyed palate with cedar wood and spice and delicious nutty hints on the finish enhanced with the merest touch of ginger.

Isle of Skye Talisker 10 yr old 45.8% 4.50 Mid gold with pungent, burnt wood aromas. Full bodied with a spicy, smoky and black pepper finish. Also known as the lava of the Cuillins. Isle of Mull Tobermory 10 yr old 40% 3.50 Smooth, velvety with fruity tangs and exquisitely spiced gingerbread, aniseed and spice for a medium sweetness to treasure. Lowland Malt Auchentoshan 12 yr old 40% 4.50 Grassy, green and fresh meadow-like with highlights of cereal notes with a lemony dry finish. Deanston 10 yr old 46.3% 5.50 Light, cereals, zesty orange and marmalade on the nose. The palate is soft and nutty with oak and caramel notes. Glenkinchie 10 yr old (Pencaitland) 43% 5.50 Almost the colour of white wine. Light, fragrant nose with vanilla and meadows. Slightly sweet start with some acidity and ginger on the finish. South Highland Malts Tullibardine Vintage Malt 40% 4.50 Full-bodied and fruity, with sweet, red wine notes, spices, berries and ripe bananas in the mouth. Medium length in the finish, with berries and spice. Dalwhinnie 15 yr old 43% 5.50 The highest distillery in Scotland at Drumochter Pass. Pale straw with a little peat and malt on the nose. Glengoyne 10 yr old 40% 4.50 Light, pleasant, sweetish malt with a fragrant aroma and no abrasive edges. Built in 1833 at the foot of the Campsie Fells. Bought by Laing Brothers in 1876. Edradour 10 yr old 40% 5.50 From Scotland s smallest distillery. The flavour is complex with some spice, minty freshness and a buttery aftertaste. Glenrothes Select Reserve 43% 4.50 Lots of zesty rich fruit on the nose. Thick Seville marmalade, bubbling on a hot stove with notes of toasted cereals. The palate is silken smooth and utterly supple. Gentle barley whispers sweet nothings to the honey. A little vanilla and malt with toasted cereal and sumptuous oak. Glenrothes 1998 43% 6.50 Very spicy and creamy with oodles of sweet vanilla, gingernut biscuits, golden syrup, hints of citrus and malt aromas. A creamy palate, malt-driven with sweet winter spices, particularly cinnamon. and hints of black pepper. The finish has more vanilla and a suggestion of nutmeg on the tail. Glenrothes 1995 43% 5.75 Buttery toffee apples nose and hints of allspice, a little milk chocolate, honey, dates and cinnamon. The palate is bursting with hot cinnamon, vanilla and maple syrup, creamy malt, sherry and peanut butter. A deliciously spicy, rich malt.

North Highland Malts Balblair Vintage Malt 46% 5.50 Floral aromas, fragrant with lemon, oranges, sweet, honey, vanilla and green apples with a sweet, spicy palate of vanilla and toffee, full bodied with hints of lemons and oranges, and a sweet, spicy finish. Clynelish 14yr old 46% 5.00 Clynelish is the successor to the now-silent Brora, built opposite the original distillery and producing a top-quality rich, smoky dram. Dalmore 12 yr old 40% 5.50 Deep amber with bronze lights. The nose is dense and oily with a heavy, toasty like smell with a fruity palate with toasty oak touches. Dalmore 15 yr old 40% 5.75 An excellent dram with notes of cigar leaf and honey with plenty of Dalmore spice. Dalmore Spey Dram 40% 5.50 The Spey Dram is a mix of ex-bourbon & Oloroso sherry casks. Rich and fruity with lots of toasty touches. Dalmore King Alexander III 40% 15.00 On the nose, malty and utterly Dalmore. Seville orange zest, Parfait Amour, malty cereal, barley and chocolate, reamy vanilla fudge, tropical fruit with a vaguely vinous quality. The palate is well rounded with inter berries, spice, zesty orange. Liqueurs emerge; Gran Marnier, kirsch and Frangelico. The finish is peppery with well-integrated oak and the claret makes a last minute appearance. Glenmorangie 10 yr old 40% 4.50 Don t be fooled by the Cognac like bottling, this is still excellent stuff. Floral with citrus notes and balanced traces of almond and smoky spices. Glen Ord 12 yr old 43% 3.50 An exuberantly spicy malt, with plenty of sherry influence, Glen Ord is a fine example of the Highland style. Old Pultney 12 yr old 40% 4.50 A very popular highland dram, with a big sherry presence alongside sweet citrus fruit notes and a faintly detectable whiff of brine. Old Pultney 21 yr old 46% 9.00 Pulteney is the most northerly mainland distillery in Scotland, ensconced in the town of Wick. The 21 year old is a mix of fino sherry and refill bourbon cask matured whisky and sits at the top of their regular range. West Highland Malts Oban 14 yr old 43% 5.50 Oban 14yo is a superb, full-blooded fruity malt with a whiff of heather and more than a hint of smoke. Orkney Islands Highland Park 12 yr old 40% 4.50 Mid gold in colour, delicate balance between sweet and dry followed by a slightly honeyed mouth-feel and that characteristic smoky finish. Scapa 16 yr old 40% 6.45 Orkney s other malt from the newly refurbished distillery on Orkney mainland. Light, un-peated and dry with some floral and herbal notes and just a hint of orange.

Speyside Malts Aberlour 10 yr old 40% 3.50 Wonderfully fruity, soft and smooth with a fine sherried spiciness. Balvenie 12 yr old Double Wood 40% 4.50 Deep amber in colour. Re-racked in Oloroso sherry casks to give a sherry like nose with a nutty, malty finish. Balvenie 15 yr old 47.8% 8.00 Cedar wood and honey with some sweetness on the nose. Honey, coconut and sugared almonds on the very long finish. Balmenach Single Malt 40% 3.50 A lovely mix of sherry, black pepper and dried orange characteristics enhanced with distinctive grainy malt hints. Bennachie 10 yr old 40% 4.50 Fragrant malt with fudge and pepper aromas the palate has a tropical fruit feel with touches of creamy vanilla finished with honey and oak. Benriach 16 yr old 40% 5.50 This delicious easy-drinking 16yo is a complex, fruit filled good all-rounder. Benrinnes 15 yr old 43% 5.50 A very interesting dram, the only Speysider to be triple-distilled like a Lowland malt or Irish whiskey, but with a lot more body and character than either of those styles. Impressive stuff. Benromach 10 yr old 40% 3.50 A beautifully balanced dram, displaying a rich Sherry character, summer fruit flavours, malt creaminess and a light peat smoke influence. Cardhu 12 yr old 40% 5.50 Good body with a decent sweetness and richness. Streaks of smoke, apple peel and bruised pears, smooth, rounded with a soft peatiness and a little smoke. Cragganmore 12 yr old 40% 4.50 Cider apples, pine essence and leather polish come through on the nose with the addition of water. Fragrant, soft and gentle. Dailuaine 16 yr old 43% 5.50 Lovely Cereals, barley sugars, sherry, fruitcake aromas with a clean malty palate with sherry notes and nutty hints. Glenfarclas 10 yr old 40% 3.50 Pale straw with green tints. Light with cereal notes on the nose, apples and a little smoke. Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength 60% 5.50 Surprisingly smooth and sweet for a 60%abv whisky with delicious notes of chocolate and spice with fruit and Cognac flavours emerging with the addition of water. The finish is long, no doubt thanks to the additional ageing, with typical winter spice notes. Glenfarclas 15 yr old 46% 5.50 Outrageously fragrant in its perfume, like a gentleman s cologne kept in a rosewood casket! Best un-spoilt by water. Glen Grant 10 yr old 40% 4.50 One of the world s best selling single malts and is particularly popular in Italy. Whisky Bible 2013: Single Malt of the Year (10yr and under). Glenfiddich Special Reserve 40% 4.50 On the nose, slightly floral with orchard fruit, malt, honey and citrus. The palate is floral and spicy and wonderfully smooth with a touch of oak. Glenfiddich Solera 15 yr old 40% 5.50 Sherry, citrus - orange in particular, dry wood. Slight suggestion of smoke on the nose with a medium palate with notes of sherry, raisins and fruitcake the finish hints of candied fruit, spice and Christmas pudding with soft oak.

Speyside Malts cont Glenfiddich Ancient 18 yr old 40% 6.75 A rare and very hard to find 18 year old Glenfiddich, packaged in a limited edition decanter. Wonderfully fruity, smoky malt with toasty oak and citrus flavours. Glen Moray Classic Malt 40% 3.50 Light, fresh and nutty with lots of fruit and gentle oak hints, the finish is tangy citrus with spice. Glenlivet 12 yr old 40% 4.50 The nose is full and rich. There is a sweet creamy vanilla with warm pastries and toffee, fudge notes and aniseed. A strong toasty cereal notes emerges with a touch of oak. The palate is quite thick and warm. There is a thick aniseed note with dried peels and fudge. The finish is long and warming. Knockando 12 yr old 43% 4.50 Pale gold with leafy and toffee notes. Mouth-feel is smooth and complex with balanced dryness. Longmorn 16 yr old 45% 6.45 The nose is fresh and green with notes of apple peel and bramley apple, hints of citrus and herbal notes and oak tannins. The palate is rich and compact with notes of lemon zest and toasty oak. Macallan 10 yr old Fine Oak 40% 5.50 Delicate colour with subtle floral and apple aromas. Toffee sweetness on the end. Matured in American oak as well as sherry casks. Singleton 12 yr old 40% 4.50 The nose is malty with cereal, barley sweetness, buttery toast, wood shavings, hay and walnut. The palate shows orange zest spiciness perks up a malty core of nuts, oak and toffee, hints of cut grass. Tamnavulin 12 yr old 40% 3.50 The nose is quite soft with a proliferation of cereals and barley. Notes of malt extract with a juicy sweetness, a herbal note develops with cut spearmint leaves. The palate is quite light and very well-balanced. There are notes of soft herbs and eucalyptus oil with barley sugars. Tamdhu 12 yr old 40% 4.50 Spiced nose with a little toffee and caramel. A soft, buttery, oak-led palate with notes of cinnamon and cough drops. The finish is malt-driven finish with nutmeg on the tail. Tomintoul 16 yr old 40% 4.50 The palate is of medium body and quite rich. There are notes of boiled sweets and espresso, mocchaccino notes, ground almonds and granary toast with melted butter. Tormore 12 yr old 40% 3.50 Cut flowers and a leafy notes on the nose with hints of pepper. The palate is very smooth with marmalade and fresh zesty note. There are notes of barley sugar and a soft oak. The finish is of good length with a touch of oak and hay. Tomatin 12 yr old 40% 3.50 Medium-bodied and well-balanced. There are notes of toasted cereals and barley. Hints of winter spice and buttery pepper emanating from the toasty oak. Fettercairn Foir 42% 4.50 Handsome, smartly packaged Fettercairn. Fior is Gaelic for "true", and the whisky has an astonishingly rich flavour of cocoa, espresso, spices, fruit and almond. Monkey Shoulder 40% 3.50 Very malty, creamy delivery which offers up a palate redolent of berry fruit, juicy toasted barley, cloves and butterscotch. A hint of manuka honey, hot-buttered-toast and dried apricot develop. Other Scotch Whisky Snow Grouse 40% 4.50 Beautifully balanced, this easy drinking Scotch whisky has a more delicate flavour, is thicker in consistency and sweeter than the usual dram. Vanilla, ginger and peach on the palate with clean cereal notes and fresh fruit which lingers through to the finish. Famous Grouse 10 yr old 40% 4.50 Light, fresh, lemon marmalade and toffee on the nose with a well rounded palate of sherried peels, nuts and toffee apple with a fruity finish enhanced with a touch of smoke.
