Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF) is mandated under the Biosecurity Act 2008 to protect Fiji from the entry and establishment of exotic pests and diseases. BAF regulates import and export of plants or plant products, animals or animal products, propagating materials, microorganism or vaccines etc. BAF is mandated under the Biosecurity Act 2008 to: a. To protect Fiji against the entry of regulated pests and diseases affecting animals, plants, human beings and the environment. b. Regulate the import and export of all regulated articles under the BAF Act 2008. c. To protect the Fijian Border from the entry of prohibited or regulated articles through border inspection and consignment clearance. d. To prevent the establishment and spread of regulated pests and diseases and the release of organisms that might adversely affect animals, plants, human beings and the environment in Fiji. Import of Plant and Plant Products 1. Personal Allowance (Exemption of Biosecurity Import Specification) For personal import of all plant products, the allowance is a collective weight of (and must not exceed) 10 kg. The following processed plant products can be brought or imported by an individual when travelling to or sending personal effects to Fiji: a. Commercially packed dried and pitted dates b. Commercially packed hulled/deshelled or roasted, salted, chopped and kibbled nuts c. Commercially prepared and packed dried or dehydrated edible mushroom d. Commercially packed parboiled rice or other polished rice e. Commercially packaged beans, split peas, lentils and pulses f. Cooked frozen vegetables g. Flour (Wheat, Rice etc.) h. Tapa and miniature handicrafts (made from treated, polished and vanished wood) i. Cosmetics j. Noodles with vegetable flavors k. Commercially prepared dried seaweed l. Instant coffee, tea, cocoa powder, milo, non-dairy sweeteners
Exceptions a. Commercially packed dried and grounded herbs, spices up to 2kg only b. Kava for personal consumption up to 2 kg only, to be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate. All plant products imported into Fiji, either for commercial or personal purpose, must have labels in English.

Prawns/Shrimps - head/thorax and shell should be removed and hard frozen. Fully cooked Prawns only allowed with heads and thorax removed. Please declare all plant & plant products and animal & animal products on the passenger arrival (Blue) card prior to landing/clearance. BAF requests all importers to adhere to the information provided in this notice.
