UNDERSTANDING BURGUNDY Burgundy is the narrowest and longest wine region in France, but one of the smallest, most fragmented and difficult to understand. With more than 1,000 names and over 100 appellations it s easy to see why. To understand the fragmentation, one must look at the past briefly. Once Burgundy was owned almost entirely by the church, until 1789 when the French Revolution took place. During this vineyards were seized and broken up and given to families to farm. French Inheritance laws have further fragmented these vineyards. When it comes to the grapes grown in Burgundy, things get a little simpler. There are only three main grapes grown in Burgundy. Pinot Noir for red wine, Chardonnay for the white and Gamay for Beaujolais. There are various levels of quality in Burgundy. At the top is Grand Cru. Next is Premier Cru, followed by wine from a specific Village and then Burgundy generic appellations. Burgundy can be divided into three distinct areas: 1. CHABLIS: The northern most and closest to Paris is Chablis. The only grape allowed to be planted here is Chardonnay because the soil is made up of chalk, decomposing oyster shells and the fact that it is very cold and could not reliably ripen Pinot Noir. 2. CÔTE D OR: the heart of Burgundy which is then further divided into; a. Côte de Nuits: Quite literally home to the world s most expensive vineyards and wines. Virtually all Pinot Noir because of the soil being heavier and more clay based. b. Côte de Beaune: The lower part of Burgundy central is dominated by Chardonnay and is the home to the most expensive Chardonnays in the world from the village of Puligny Montrachet. 3. BEAUJOLAIS: a huge region that produces vastly more wine than the 3 other areas combined. The only grape really planted here is Gamay. CÔTE DE NUITS The following are the main villages in the Côte de Nuits; GEVREY CHAMBERTIN In this village the vineyards are on gentle slopes with layers of pebbles on the top. The wines from Gevrey show red berry characters when young and game characters in the richer wines, as they develop they tend to have more licorice characters. Grand Cru s are Chambertin, Clos de Bèze, Charmes-Chambertin, Chapelle, Chambertin, Griotte- Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin and Ruchottes-Chambertin. MOREY-ST-DENIS Not as well known as the other villages in the Côte de Nuits, located between Gevrey and Chambolle, the vineyards in Morey-St-Denis have a good free draining gradient and a base of limestone. Morey-St-Denis is home to the Grand Cru vineyards of Clos de la Roche, Bonnes Mares, Clos de Tart, Clos St-Denis and Clos des Lambrays. CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY Wines from Chambolle Musigny are one of the most delicate in Burgundy, they display fragrant fruit and finesse. The light soil and varying gradients of the village create this delicacy and the complexity of these wines. Grand Cru s are Bonnes Mares and Musigny. VOUGEOT This village is home to one Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot which covers more than four-fifths of the area under vines here. Clos de Vougeot wines are rich and generous yet not overpowering. VOSNE ROMANÉE Home to the most expensive wines in Burgundy, the village of Vosne Romanée is home to the Grand Crus Romanée-Conti, La Romanée, La Tâche, Romanée-St-Vivant, Richebourg and La Grande Rue and home to some of the best domains including Domaine de la Romanée Conti. The Grand Cru s of Grands Échézeaux and Échézeaux are located next door in Flagey Échézeaux.

UNDERSTANDING BURGUNDY NUITS ST GEORGES The town of Nuits added the name of its finest vineyard - Les Saint Georges - in the 19th century. There are no Grand Cru in the village of Nuits St Georges, but a host of very good Premier Cru. A FEW MORE FACTS: Generic wines are labelled as Burgundy or Bourgogne. In total there are more than 400 Premier Crus vineyards in Burgundy. There are 32 Grand Crus Vineyards in total 8 white Grand Crus, 24 red Grand Crus. Of these 24 are from the Côte de Nuits and 8 from the Côte de Beaune. The largest red Grand Cru in Burgundy is Corton, this Grand Cru represents about 25% of Grand Cru Red wines by volume. It s very important to know your vintages when you purchase Burgundy. 2010 is an excellent vintage. Recently 1996, 1997 and 2002 are all very good vintages, while 1999, 2005 and 2009 were excellent vintages. Unlike Bordeaux, it is more likely that Domaines change hands, personnel change and the quality can improve in a short period of time, so it s often prudent to read as many reviews as possible to get a sense of the quality level they are producing in the current vintage. CÔTE DE BEAUNE The following are the main villages in the Côte de Beaune: ALOXE-CORTON Home to the Grand Cru, Corton, both red and white Corton can be produced. Red wine from Aloxe-Corton is one of the most powerful and tannic in the area and needs time to develop. BEAUNE This village is more known as the centre of Burgundy, where you d likely stay when visiting the area, than for it s wines. There are however some good Premier Crus in this area. VOLNAY As with Pommard, there are no Grand Cru, but a host of Premier Crus, the wines from Volnay are fragrant, elegant and age very well. POMMARD There are no Grand Cru in Pommard although Grand Clos des Épenots would be a definite candidate if the Grand Cru classifications were ever reviewed; wines from this Premier Cru show finesse, character and the ability to age gracefully. Wines from Pommard definitely demand age, when young the tannins are very tight, as they age the power and richness in the wine develops.

Alex Gambal Alex is an American who visited Burgundy, fell in love and never left! Now normally you d run a mile, an American making wine in Burgundy! But don t, these wines are fantastic, well made and exceptionally well priced (not often written in a Burgundy offer). In his first year Alex purchased finished wines, in a very short time he had established relation ships with local growers and began to vinify the wines himself. The philosophy of Alex Gambal and of Fabrice Laronze, head winemaker, is a respect for the character of each appellation and vintage. In addition, they believe that good winemaking, although imperative, should be secondary to the quality of the grapes which result from relationships and a sharing of ideas with the growers. 42379 ALEX GAMBAL BEAUNE 1ER CRU LES GREVES 2010 $89.00 $69.00 Burghound, 89-92: A brooding and quite somber nose speaks of earthy and floral dark berry fruit aromas dissolve gracefully into rich, intense and focused medium-bodied flavours that possess fine complexity on the firm and somewhat linear finish. This will need a few years to flesh out and harmonize but the underlying material is clearly present. 42353 ALEX GAMBAL BOURGOGNE CHARDONNAY 2007 $64.00 $34.99 Burghound, 87/100: "A pure and highly expressive nose of lemon peel and floral notes merges into round, delicious, energetic and lightly mineral suffused flavors that possess excellent punch and culminate in a bone dry finish. Worth a look." 42282 ALEX GAMBAL BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR 2008 $44.00 $30.99 Alex Gambal is a boutique producer renowned for the exemplary quality of its wines. This entry-level Pinot Noir is a blend of Volnay and Pommard fruit that has been traditionally fermented and matured in oak and bottled without fining or filtering. The fragrant cherry and summer fruit aromas are nicely integrated with spicy oak. This is, in effect, a petit Volnay, soft textured and full of sensuous fruit flavours. 42300 ALEX GAMBAL BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR 2009 $49.00 $31.99 Alex Gambal initially founded his own company as a négociant operation, producing his wines from purchased grapes, but he has since bought holdings that include parcels in top-rated vineyards. Les Deux Papis was produced predominately from Pinot Noir fruit grown in the Volnay and Pommard appellations, the Volnay portion providing seductive raspberry and cherry aromas and flavours and the Pommard portion giving the wine weight and depth. 42280 ALEX GAMBAL BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR 2010 $39.99 $31.99 Burghound, 86/100: "A mildly rustic but attractively complex nose of red berry fruit, plum and violets leads to rich, delicious and attractively textured middle weight flavors that are supported by noticeably firm but ripe tannins before culminating in a balanced finish. A quality Bourgogne." 42373 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2008 $496.00 $372.00 Wine Spectator, 91/100: A straight, linear style, this red shows cherry, earth, spice and mineral flavors on a medium-weight frame. This is tight and needs time to reveal its complexity and full length. Best from 2014 through 2026. 50 cases made. - BS 40898 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2009 $599.00 $450.00 Burghound, 92-94/100: This is also troubled by enough reduction to render the nose unreadable. There is however good vibrancy to the rich, serious and big-bodied flavors that possess ample power and weight before culminating in a mineral-driven and explosive finish that delivers outstanding length. This too should be capable of rewarding long-term cellaring, indeed patience will be a necessity. Drink 2024+ - AM 42287 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2001 $88.00 $50.99 Wine Spectator, 84/100: "Some decent fruit in this elegant red. Shows some raspberries and cherries, but a bit short on the finish." 42295 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2004 $80.00 $51.99 Burghound, 89/100: "A gorgeous Chambolle fruit nose that is wonderfully elegant and quite pure highlights round, sweet and supple light to medium weight flavors that possess good finishing punch and lovely persistence. This is deceptively light but the focus and length here are really quite impressive." 42310 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2006 $114.00 $65.99 Red fruits dominate a wide and quite fine nose. There is sweetness, slightly forward acidity and a good and very persistent flavour that s finally bounded by a faint edge of tannin. A nice wine that shows none of its 25% new oak.

42362 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2007 $142.00 $81.99 Burghound, 89/100: "A high-toned nose that is very Chambolle in character with its airy, cool, elegant and wispy red berry fruit and wet stone aromas that give way to round, stylish and detailed flavors that also reflect a subtle minerality on the balanced, persistent and delineated finish. A lovely villages that should age well over the medium-term." 42297 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2008 $112.00 $84.00 Burghound, 86-88/100: "A very Chambolle nose of pretty and very high-toned red pinot fruit trimmed in background mineral notes that continue onto the detailed racy and bright middle weight flavors that finish with a distinct edginess that may be due to the substantial quantity of CO2." 40895 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2009 $99.00 $79.99 Jancis Robinson, 15.5/20: Light crimson. Very sculpted. Chewy and a little ungracious. Rustic tannins. 42281 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2010 $199.00 $155.00 Wine Spectator, 90/100: Ripe, sporting cherry and raspberry notes, with accents of smoky oak. The tannins are on the woodsy side, showing ample sweet fruit and supple texture for balance. Best from 2015 through 2023. 150 cases made. BS 42350 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 1ER CRU LES 2006 $179.00 $102.99 Wine Spectator, 92/100: "Dense and chewy, yet also graceful, offering licorice, blackberry, spice and mineral flavors. Builds across the palate to a long, expansive aftertaste of dried fruit and spice. Best from 2012 through 2022." 42363 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 1ER CRU LES 2007 $214.00 $122.99 Burghound, 91/100: "This is ever so slightly riper with a complex, airy and densely fruited nose that displays just a touch of oak influence that is followed by rich, delicious and noticeably mineral-infused middle weight flavors that offer both good depth and vibrancy and culminate in a lingering finish where a trace of wood resurfaces. It's important to note that the wood should not be an issue as it already seems to be integrating well." 40896 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 1ER CRU LES 2009 $199.00 $150.00 Wine Spectator, 94/100: Supple and laced with cherry, raspberry and spice flavors, this red is the epitome of Chambolle - delicate, perfumed and silky. There's grip on the finish, and this is beautifully balanced. Best from 2015 through 2030. 50 cases made. - BS 42283 ALEX GAMBAL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 1ER CRU LES 2010 $199.00 $155.00 Burghound, 89-92/100: "Subtle but noticeable wood frames a well-layered nose of raspberry and cherry that is trimmed in attractive floral scents. There is a generosity to the supple and round middle weight flavours that possess a seductive mouth feel and fine finishing intensity where the wood resurfaces. While the wood adds nothing to the appeal it appears that there is enough underlying material to successfully absorb it in time." 42304 ALEX GAMBAL CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 2006 $114.00 $65.99 Wine Spectator, 90/100: "Lemon cake, butterscotch and apricot aromas and flavors mark this rich white. It's firm too, with the balance and structure to develop over the next few years." 42354 ALEX GAMBAL CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 2007 $135.00 $74.99 Burghound, 90/100: "A wonderfully fresh nose of herb resin, citrus and underbrush hints are trimmed in a discreet application of wood influence that marries into detailed, punch and frank medium-bodied flavors that are bone dry on the focused and relatively powerful finish for a villages. Attractive if not elegant with ample character." 42294 ALEX GAMBAL CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 2008 $106.00 $80.00 Burghound, 89/100: "A layered and appealing nose offers notes of resin, orchard fruit and a hint of rosemary oil that serves as a complex introduction to the sappy and palate soaking middle weight flavors that possess fine intensity and excellent length for a villages level wine. This is fashioned in a forward and early drinking style yet remains entirely serious. Recommended. Outstanding Top value." 40890 ALEX GAMBAL CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 2009 $99.00 $79.99 Burghound, 90/100: As with the Clos du Cromin, there is a vestige of unabsorbed SO2 though again it s not really enough to detract materially from the otherwise pretty and fresh aromas of white peach, stone and ripe pear aromas. There is fine intensity to the mouth coating medium-bodied flavors that possess an abundance of dry extract that confers a textured and seductive mouth feel onto the persistent finish. A wine of harmony. Drink 2015+. AM 42369 ALEX GAMBAL CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 1ER CRU 2008 $131.00 $99.00 Burghound, 88-92/100: A mild trace of SO2 does not diminish the attractiveness of the stone, white flower and resin suffused nose that is in keeping with the rich and intense flavors that possess fine volume along with the natural refinement of a classic Clos St. Jean, all wrapped in a balanced, long and delicious finish. Drink 2013+. - AM 42355 ALEX GAMBAL CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 1ER CRU LA 2007 $168.00 $89.90 Burghound, 92/100: "Here the wood is a bit more obvious though by no means intrusive as the ripe aromas of citrus, pear, peach and resin oil hints lead to rich, full and sappy flavors that retain good delineation and like the Clos St. Jean, excellent length and fine depth on the lingering finish." 42364 ALEX GAMBAL CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET 1ER CRU LA 2008 $131.00 $99.00 Burghound, 91/100: Here the nose is quite similar to that of the Clos St. Jean though otherwise, there is less minerality but notably more complexity to the rich, generous and impressively lingering finish. This is also a wine of harmony and one that should reward medium-term cellaring. Drink 2015+. - AM

40886 ALEX GAMBAL CHOREY LES BEAUNE 2009 $85.00 $66.00 Burghound, 89/100: "This is prettier still with ultra-pure and very fresh red pinot fruit that complements well the supple, vibrant and equally fresh flavors that are shaped by unusually fine tannins for what this is as well as very solid length. This is a beautiful Chorey and worthy of consideration as well. Sweet Spot. Outstanding. Drink: 2013+." 42378 ALEX GAMBAL CHOREY LES BEAUNE 2010 $69.00 $54.00 Burghound, 88/100: "A pure and appealingly fresh nose of high-toned red pinot fruit that is nuanced by hints of humus and earth gives way to supple and lilting medium-bodied flavours that are quite round and very forward. There is a clean and dry palate impression with good integration of the supporting structure, all wrapped in a mildly rustic finish. Good quality here for what is at best a modest appellation." 42286 ALEX GAMBAL CLOS VOUGEOT GRAND CRU 1998 $156.00 $110.00 42352 ALEX GAMBAL CLOS VOUGEOT GRAND CRU 2006 $288.00 $165.99 Wine Spectator, 93/100: "A round, fruity style, but there's no shortage of grip. Black cherry and black currant flavours set the pace, before fine-grained tannins, spice and mineral flavors enter the mix. Fine length. Best from 2011 through 2022." 42365 ALEX GAMBAL CLOS VOUGEOT GRAND CRU 2007 $396.00 $227.99 Burghound, 92/100: "This is relatively elegant for a young Clos de Vougeot with an attractive mèlange of red and blue berries, earth, underbrush and a hint of the sauvage that also permeates the big, rich and serious full-bodied flavors that possess good mid-palate dry extract that buffers the otherwise firm tannins on the impressively long and youthfully austere finish where a touch of wood is also evident. A classically styled example that should age well." 42298 ALEX GAMBAL CLOS VOUGEOT GRAND CRU 2008 $288.00 $156.99 Robert Parker, 92/100: "Three of five barrels of Gambal s 2005 Clos Vougeot are from a parcel high up and against the wall of the Clos and Grands Echezeaux (and three of five are new, too). Roasted meat and blackberry aromas lead into a bright, slightly tart, undeniably concentrated mouthful of black fruits backed by persistent, charred meatiness, alkaline mineral notes, and a chewy load of tannins." 40897 ALEX GAMBAL CLOS VOUGEOT GRAND CRU 2009 $299.00 $235.00 Burghound, 91-93/100: Reserved yet elegant and airy aromas of spice, red and blue pinot fruit plus bass notes of warm earth give way to powerful and well-muscled flavors that display excellent mid-palate density and only mild austerity on the palate staining finish. Despite the power, this is less robust than one might expect from such a young Clos de Vougeot though it should be capable of 12 to 15 years of improvement. Drink 2021+. - AM 42370 ALEX GAMBAL CLOS VOUGEOT GRAND CRU 2010 $269.00 $235.00 Burghound, 91-93/100: "A cool, reserved and admirably pure nose combines ripe red berry fruit and pungent earth aromas where the latter element also characterizes the precise, powerful and overtly muscular medium weight plus flavours. There is excellent complexity to the robust and driving finish and this will need at least a decade to reach full maturity." 42356 ALEX GAMBAL CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2008 $249.00 $187.00 Burghound, 94/100: "Discreet oak influence sets off an expressive nose of white flower, green apple and obvious mineral notes that continue onto the gorgeously deep, broad and powerful flavors blessed with ample dry extract on the driving and palate staining finish. The energy and intensity here are something and in terms of style and character, this is textbook Corton-Charlemagne with the stuffing and structure to age well. In a word, terrific." 40891 ALEX GAMBAL CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2009 $245.00 $190.00 Burghound, 92/100: In contrast to the expressiveness of the Genevrières, this is quite restrained with a muted nose of green fruit, lemon and apple plus distinct mineral notes that are also reflected by the serious, powerful and quite concentrated broad-shouldered flavors that possess fine depth and excellent length. This wellbalanced effort should reward 7 to 10 years of cellar time. Drink 2016+. - AM 40899 ALEX GAMBAL ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU 2009 $345.00 $268.00 Burghound, 91-94/100: Relatively heavy reduction knocks down the nose though the rich, full-bodied and serious flavors possess good verve, volume and phenolic maturity as well as impressive breadth and depth on the extract-rich finish. Based on the apparent quality of the underlying material, this should be excellent in time" - AM 42289 ALEX GAMBAL LATRICIERES CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2010 $289.00 $224.00 Wine Spectator, 93/100: An opulent, juicy style, embedded with spice-tinged cherry, raspberry and smoke flavors. The structure is well-integrated, with lively acidity and refined tannins providing support. The spice notes echo on the long finish. Best from 2017 through 2037. 75 cases made. BS 42305 ALEX GAMBAL MEURSAULT CLOS DU CROMIN 2006 $111.00 $84.00 Robert Parker, 87/100: "Almost confectionary in its nose of marzipan, vanilla, and nut brittle, the Gambal 2006 Meursault Clos du Cromin then comes to the palate with toasted nut and citrus that reflect much less sense of sweetness than the nose leads one to expect. This offers an excellent balance between richness and juicy primary fruit brightness. Esterous and voluminous in finish." 42357 ALEX GAMBAL MEURSAULT CLOS DU CROMIN 2007 $130.00 $71.99 Burghound, 89/100: "An admirably discreet touch of wood sets off notes of hazelnut, white peach, pear and a hint of wet stone that transfers over to the rich, generous and full flavors that retain a fine sense of underlying detail on the multi-layered finish that possesses ample vibrancy and punch. This offers fine quality for its level and like the prior wines, is very much worth consideration." 40892 ALEX GAMBAL MEURSAULT CLOS DU CROMIN 2009 $99.00 $77.00 Wine Spectator, 91/100: Peach, apple and grapefruit flavors are augmented by light toast in this juicy, elegant white. This is balanced, crisp and ready now, but will benefit from a few years of aging. Drink now through 2020. 65 cases imported. BS

42306 ALEX GAMBAL PULIGNY MONTRACHET 2006 $120.00 $68.99 Robert Parker, 88/100: "The Gambal 2006 Puligny-Montrachet offers an unusually bright and bracing take on its vintage and appellation, with fresh lime and white peach supported by a sorbet-like sense of sweetness and primary fruit juiciness. Hints of honey and spice add interest and reflect the presence of a modest percentage of botrytized fruit in this picking, but do not detract from the clarity and sheer refreshment of the finish." 42358 ALEX GAMBAL PULIGNY MONTRACHET 2007 $142.00 $81.99 Burghound, 90/100: "Here the nose is a bit more elegant and higher-toned with classic Puligny aromas of very pure orchard fruit and acacia blossom notes trimmed in a deft touch of oak that slide gracefully into round and rich yet beautifully detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess fine mid-palate fat and are given a bit of lift by the subtle minerality that appears on the vibrant and zesty finish. Excellent quality for a villages level wine and this is recommended." 42360 ALEX GAMBAL PULIGNY MONTRACHET 2008 $112.00 $60.99 Wine Spectator, 90/100: Shows enticing green elements of lime and wild herbs, along with apple, oak spice and mineral accents. This is intense and lively, with a long aftertaste. Drink now through 2018. 275 cases made. - BS 42308 ALEX GAMBAL PULIGNY MONTRACHET 1ER CRU LES 2006 $194.00 $146.00 Burghound, 92/100: "A completely different and more elegant nose that is trimmed in a subtle touch of wood offers up aromas that are largely floral in character with a hint of spice adding nuance that continues onto the pure, refined and detailed flavors, all wrapped in a mineral-infused, linear, indeed even chiseled finish that possess another dimension relative to all of the prior wines. This is very Puligny in character and worth a look." 40893 ALEX GAMBAL PULIGNY MONTRAHCET 2009 $99.00 $62.99 Gilbert and Gaillard, 91/100: Light yellow. Initially floral nose opening up to notes of ripe lemon backed by wonderful, slightly toasted minerality. Full, supple palate showing seductive honesty and roundness. Full, lingering aftertaste. A top-end wine for delicately-flavoured fish. 42307 ALEX GAMBAL SAINT AUBIN 1ER CRU 2006 $102.00 $58.99 Burghound, 90/100: "Here the nose is notably more elegant as the typical coolness of St. Aubin is brought to bear, particularly on the nose with its pure, fresh and relatively high-toned citrus blossom and wet stone aromas where the minerality can also be found on the vibrant, punchy, detailed and energetic flavours and finish. This is lovely and is blessed with impeccable balance." 42359 ALEX GAMBAL SAINT AUBIN 1ER CRU 2007 $120.00 $68.99 Burghound, 92/100: "Here the nose offers another step up in aromatic refinement and purity and while the difference is on the margin, it is clearly noticeable. Elegant and stylish aromas of lemon, green apple, pear and rose petal serve as a striking introduction to the precise and focused flavors that display ample amounts of the typical St. Aubin minerality and this exudes precision, in fact the term 'laser-like' would not be an inapt modifier, all wrapped in a silky finish that is akin to rolling pebbles around in your mouth. Like the Bourgogne-Prestige, this is highly recommended." 42371 ALEX GAMBAL SAINT AUBIN 1ER CRU 2008 $95.00 $72.00 Burghound, 90/100: A seductively expressive and relatively cool nose blends relatively high-toned floral, pear and green apple notes into precise, minerally and racy flavors that are long, linear and wonderfully vibrant as there is an attractive underlying tension present on the balanced, persistent and bone dry finish. Excellent quality. Drink 2013+. Outstanding Top Value! - AM 40894 ALEX GAMBAL SAINT AUBIN 1ER CRU 2009 $75.00 $39.99 Burghound, 87/100: A more refined nose of green fruit, lemon and acacia blossom gives way to round, delicious and textured flavors that possess an attractive mouth feel and solid detail, all wrapped in a finish of acceptable depth and length. Drink 2012+. - AM 42312 ALEX GAMBAL SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE VIEILLES VIGNES 2006 $70.00 $53.00 Burghound, 87/100: "Classic ruby. A slightly herbaceous red cherry nose leads to medium-bodied flavors that are really quite pretty as they possess fine detail and balance though as with the Bourgogne, there is a touch of finishing bitterness." 42367 ALEX GAMBAL SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE VIEILLES VIGNES 2007 $86.00 $48.99 Burghound, 87/100: "This too is nicely perfumed though notably more deeply pitched with ample amounts of pungent Savigny earth and pretty red pinot fruit that is very clean and bright before transitioning into detailed, cool and restrained middle weight flavors that offer reasonably good depth and length. I very much like the purity here and like the Bourgogne, this should benefit from a few years in bottle first." 42372 ALEX GAMBAL SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $69.00 $37.99 Wine Spectator, 88/100: Bright with black cherry, earth and mineral flavors, this beefy red is concentrated and firm, with a coarse texture on the finish. Drink now through 2016. 250 cases made. - BS 40887 ALEX GAMBAL SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE VIEILLES VIGNES 2009 $69.00 $54.00 This is also pretty but noticeably earthier with plenty of Savigny-style earth on the appealingly fresh red berry fruit nose. The rich and nicely detailed flavors possess good detail and a bit more structure on the persistent finish. Drink: 2014 87-90/100 Burghound. 42376 ALEX GAMBAL SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE VIEILLES VIGNES 2010 $59.00 $49.00 Burghound, 87/100: "A pungently earthy red and dark berry fruit-infused nose that is very Savigny in character is followed by fresh and precise flavours that possess fine intensity before terminating in a similar clean and dry finish but here the tannins are less well-integrated. To be clear, this is by no means unbalanced but it is somewhat youthfully awkward at present as the supporting structure sticks out a bit relative to the concentration of the midpalate."

42374 ALEX GAMBAL VOLNAY 1ER CRU EN CHAMPANS 2010 $99.00 $77.00 Burghound, 91/100: "This is also notably earthy but also notably more complex with a densely fruited nose of red berry liqueur and subtle stone nuances. There is excellent intensity and verve to the mineral-inflected, mouth coating and silky flavours that possess impressive depth and length. This is very much a classically styled Volnay and worth investigating." 40888 ALEX GAMBAL VOLNAY 1ER CRU EN CHEVRET 2009 $118.00 $92.00 Soft fruit, with a tannic hint underneath. The wine is supported at this stage by wood, while the fruit has strawberry jam sweetness. The acidity and structure really only come through at the end 42351 ALEX GAMBAL VOLNAY 1ER CRU LES SANTENOTS 2006 $127.00 $96.00 Burghound, 89/100: "Classic ruby. An earthy but bright nose of raspberry, cherry and red pinot fruit aromas introduce round, rich, sweet and energetic flavors that have limited phenolic ripeness but no bitterness, all wrapped in a moderately austere but not strict finish of good length." 42368 ALEX GAMBAL VOLNAY 1ER CRU LES SANTENOTS 2007 $148.00 $81.99 Burghound. 91/100: "Not surprisingly, this is much more aromatically complex with ripe blue berry, plum and violet aromas introducing delicious, naturally sweet and layered medium-bodied flavors that possess good mid-palate concentration and lovely persistence on the textured finale." 42292 ALEX GAMBAL VOSNE ROMANEE VIEILLES VIGNES 2004 $94.00 $60.99 42311 ALEX GAMBAL VOSNE ROMANEE VIEILLES VIGNES 2006 $125.00 $71.99 Burghound, 88/100: "A spicy, pure, elegant and expressive mélange of red and black pinot fruit, earth and hints of soy and hoisin blends into delicious, cool and nicely precise flavors underpinned by moderately ripe tannins and a punchy finish that comes up at present a bit on the short side." 42366 ALEX GAMBAL VOSNE ROMANEE VIEILLES VIGNES 2007 $152.00 $79.99 Burghound, 89/100: "Here the aromatic profile is completely different with a notably spicy, pure and ultra elegant dark berry fruit and earth suffused nose that complements perfectly the delicious and relatively concentrated flavors that are textured, velvety and mouth coating, all put into lovely relief by just the right amount of bright acidity. There is a slightly firmer tannic spine compared to the Chambolle but both of these are very attractive villages level wines." 42284 ALEX GAMBAL VOSNE ROMANEE VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $119.00 $64.99 Wine Spectator, 89/100: "This red is dense and almost chewy in texture, yet with pure cherry and raspberry flavors accented by spice. A bit compact and tight on the finish now. This red's texture is like raw silk, as tannins sneak in on the finish. Everything is in the right place. Best from 2014 through 2025. 175 cases made. BS 42285 ALEX GAMBAL VOSNE ROMANEE VIEILLES VIGNES 2010 $99.00 $77.00 Burghound, 89-91/100: "A very spicy and well-layered nose of black fruit and violets is very much in keeping with the attractively spiced rich, round and solidly well-concentrated medium-bodied flavours that possess a velvety mouth feel, all wrapped in a mouth coating finish. Like several of the wines in the range, this is exactly what it is supposed to be, e.g. very Vosne. An admirable villages with a certain robustness to the finish."

Domaine Jean Chartron Established in 1859 by the cooper-craftsman Jean-Edouard Dupard, Domaine Jean Chartron has been governed by four generations concerned with both the expansion and prosperity of the prestigious vineyards as the management of the rural district. The village owes it name to Jean-Edouard Dupard, when in 1873 as mayor of Puligny he asked the local council to authorize the decision that the name Montrachet - the most prestigious vineyard be added to that of Puligny, the original name of the village. Jean-Rene Chartron, the 4th generation is without doubt the one who has brought the most to the domaine making wines of the highest quality and today, it is his son Jean-Michel Chartron, 38 yrs old who runs the domaine. 41469 DOMAINE JEAN CHARTRON BATARD MONTRACHET GRAND CRU 2008 $491.00 $345.00 Wine Spectator, 93/100: "A powerful white, closed in and dense with ripe peach, apple, butter and baking spice aromas and flavors. Domaine Anne Gros The Gros family have been making top quality wine in Vosne-Romanée since 1830 when Alphonse Gros married Madame Latour and acquired his first parcels of vines there. There were various divisons of the land until the latest generation took over in 1995 when Jean Gros retired. The estate was divided amongst his three children - Michel, Bernard (bottled under the Gros Frère et Soeur brand) and the youngest Anne. Although all three are neighbours in the village of Vosne-Romanée, their wine styles are very different. Until 1994 Anne labelled her wines under Domaine Anne and Francois Gros, her fathers name. This was however confusing with Anne s family labelling his wines as Domaine A.F. Gros and F. Parent (Anne Parent s brothers wines). Anne s vineyard holding are very small but include her jewel; 0.60 hectares of Richebourg, first planted around 1930. She has quickly gained a reputation as one of the finest producers in Burgundy. 41078 DOMAINE ANNE GROS BOURGOGNE BLANC 2008 $46.00 $29.99 Typical Burgundian mineral, wet rock and earth notes underscore the subtle but haunting fruit. An exercise in restraint, the wine reveals complexity layer by layer. 41063 DOMAINE ANNE GROS CHAMBOLLE LA COMBE D'ORVEAU 2009 $125.00 $79.99 Stephen Tanzer, 87/100: "Palish medium red. Perfumed, slightly high-toned aromas of raspberry, spices and rose petal. Tightly wound, even a bit hermetic in the stainless steel tank, but with subtle stony precision and perfume. Finishes persistent and aromatic, with a lingering stony quality." 41076 DOMAINE ANNE GROS CHAMBOLLE LA COMBE D'ORVEAU 2010 $125.00 $79.99 The malolactic fermentation had just finished, a complex structure was starting to show through, clean vibrant acidity, a poised fruit bowl in the centre with a very precise and clean structure around it. Texturally delightful, a fresh, vibrant, elegant chambolle, whist at this stage showing a little closed. LW. 43126 DOMAINE ANNE GROS CHAMBOLLE MUSGINY LA COMBE 2006 $120.00 $79.99 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Ripe red fruits and mocha on the nose. Supple and ripe, showing more breadth but less cut than the young 2006. But this is currently a bit clenched on the back half, with the coolness of this rocky site giving it a restrained, taut character. I'd hold this for a few years." 43127 DOMAINE ANNE GROS CHAMBOLLE MUSGINY LA COMBE 2007 $130.00 $79.99 Burghound, 85/100: "A subtle touch of wood toast frames pretty and somewhat more complex red pinot fruit that has a crushed leaf component to it that can also be found on the fresh and very Chambolle mineral-suffused light weight flavors that culminate in an understated and very pretty finish." 41045 DOMAINE ANNE GROS CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2008 $113.00 $84.99 Fascinating scents of Keemun tea and gentian; fresh red raspberry and cherry shadowed by their spirituous essences. A texturally tender palate that preserves the subtle but insistent tartness of fruit skin and piquancy of pits characteristic for so many Pinots of its vintage. This finishes with mouthwatering enticement to take the next sip, as well as with recognition of the wine s fine but persistent tannins that were previously almost undetectable. 42008 DOMAINE ANNE GROS CLOS VOUGEOT 2004 $192.00 $135.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92/100: "Good full red. Medicinal black cherry, licorice and some herbal nuances. Then supple and rich, with enticing sweetness and minerality. Doesn't show the clarity of the best vintages, but then this is still a bit clenched today following a recent sulfuring. Builds nicely toward the back, finishing long and spicy, with dusty, slightly drying tannins." 43131 DOMAINE ANNE GROS CLOS VOUGEOT LE GRAND MAUPERTUI 2007 $277.00 $155.00 Burghound, 89/100: "A slightly riper mix of red and blue pinot fruit aromas are trimmed in a bit of wood spice and subtle warm earth notes that also suffuse the somewhat more concentrated and deeper middle weight flavors that are supple, forward and approachable and coat the mouth on the balanced and nicely persistent finish." 41058 DOMAINE ANNE GROS CLOS VOUGEOT LE GRAND MAUPERTUI 2009 $270.00 $189.00 Stephen Tanzer, 91/100: "Good deep red. Primary yet perfumed aromas of black cherry, mint, licorice and violet. Juicy, intense and tactile; this really saturates the palate with black raspberry and bitter chocolate flavour. A seriously structured, very long 2009 with a finishing note of bitter chocolate." 41048 DOMAINE ANNE GROS ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU LES 2008 $230.00 $129.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Aromas of redcurrant, tobacco and soil are less precise than those of the Vosne-Romanee. Supple in texture but a bit autumnal after the last sample. Shows a bit of lift from rose petal but some edgy acidity gives the finish a spiky quality today and needs time to harmonize with the wine." 41062 DOMAINE ANNE GROS ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU LES 2009 $230.00 $135.00 Stephen Tanzer, 88/100: "Palish red. Musky strawberry, smoky minerality and a candied nuance on the nose. Creamy-sweet and layered but with less definition and verve than the two village wines. I wanted a bit more nuance. Finishes with substantial, slightly drying tannins. These vines are just 20 years old."

41055 DOMAINE ANNE GROS ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU LES 2010 $249.00 $179.00 Stephen Tanzer: (tasted from tank): Good medium red. Raspberry, blueberry, minerals and licorice on the nose, complicated by musky soil tones and perked up by orange zest. Can t quite match the razor-sharp cut of the Vosne-Romanée, but this is riper and smoother, with lovely flesh and good medicinal reserve to its sappy cherry flavor. Finishes long and ripely tannic. 91 points. 43124 DOMAINE ANNE GROS VOSNE ROMANEE LES BARREAUX 2006 $154.00 $99.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Bright, saturated red-ruby. High-pitched aromas of black cherry, raspberry, flowers and minerals. Juicy, pure and vibrant, with fruit-driven flavors and more obvious minerality than the Chambolle. Fine-grained and long on the finish, conveying an impression of energy." 43129 DOMAINE ANNE GROS VOSNE ROMANEE LES BARREAUX 2007 $168.00 $89.00 Burghound, 86/100: "A lightly and attractively spiced and notably high-toned red berry fruit nose that is airy and cool merges into supple, round, textured and lacy barely middle weight flavours that are delicious, sappy and focused while offering a bit more depth than the Chambolle. This is atypical but appealing in its fashion." 41064 DOMAINE ANNE GROS VOSNE ROMANEE LES BARREAUX 2009 $155.00 $110.00 Tanzer 89/100: Medium red. Very ripe, almost roasted aromas of exotic dark fruits and bitter chocolate; comes across as riper than the Chambolle. Then very ripe and supple in the mouth but backward and quite dry, with lively hints of blackberry and violet. A fresh and rather powerful village wine, finishing with good power and tannic force. Impressive.

Domaine Anne Parent The Parent family can trace their roots back to Etienne Parent who in 1787 established a professional and friendly relationship with Thomas Jefferson as his wine advisor for Burgundy. The Parent family have been a permanent fixture in Pommard since this time, with the sixth generation, sisters Anne and Catherine now in charge, their brother Francois working with his wife at their Domaine Anne Francoise Gros. Since 1998 Anne has modified her approach to the wines, 100% destemming, hand picking and using three sorting tables, the story here is a little like that at Domaine Lamarche, where in recent years the quality has escalated. Visiting here is great fun, Anne is very enthusiastic and has a wonderful way of describing her wines, she explained that for her Pommard has two distinctive characters that can be grouped into the North and the South. The Pommards from the North of the appellation being like a man that plays Golf and drives and Aston Martin, those made from grapes grown in the South being like a man that likes rugby and drives a Porsche. Domaine Parent is a Pommard specialist and is a wonderful addition to our range. 43452 DOMAINE ANNE PARENT 1ER CRU LES ARGILLIERES 2010 $129.00 $99.00 "This 1er Cru is located in the northern part of Pommard, it has the finesse of the previous wine, but with a persistent finish. A wine I'd like to cellar for many years." - LW 43453 DOMAINE ANNE PARENT 1ER CRU LES CHANLINS 2010 $129.00 $99.00 "The partner to the 1er Cru, les Argillieres, this is from the southern side of Pommard, near Volnay." - LW 43454 DOMAINE ANNE PARENT 1ER CRU LES CHAPONNIERES 2010 $159.00 $125.00 Burghound, 91-94/100: "Here the wood is sufficiently prominent that it fights somewhat with an aromatic profile that closely resembles that of the Chanlins. There is good detail to the rich, firm and sleekly muscular large-scaled flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration as well as plenty of mouth coating and tannin-buffering extract. The finishing balance is impeccable as is the depth and this is really very impressive. Note that my score assumes that the wood will be successfully absorbed and it should as there is fine underlying material." 43455 DOMAINE ANNE PARENT 1ER CRU LES ÉPONETS 2010 $169.00 $125.00 Burghound, 92-94/100: "Discreet but hardly invisible wood also fights a bit with the otherwise very ripe liqueur-like aromas that enjoy added breadth from the presence of earth and spice nuances. The rich, velvety and mouth coating big-bodied flavors possess both good power and excellent midpalate density before culminating in a delicious, long, balanced and very firm finish. I very much like the depth as well as vibrancy and tension because even though this is a big Epenots, it s harmonious and should amply reward long-term aging." 43456 DOMAINE ANNE PARENT 1ER CRU LES RUGIENS 2010 $199.00 $155.00 "Anne is not the owner of this vineyard, it was in the family but is not any more. Anne loves the site and continues to purchase the grapes. The production of this wine is very limited - less than 1000 bottles produced." LW 43450 DOMAINE ANNE PARENT BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR 2010 $39.00 $31.00 "The fruit for Anne s Bourgogne comes from a very old vineyard in the Pommard appellation, within the flatter part of Pommard. It has all the hallmarks of Pommard and really does over deliver, particularly in this vintage." LW 43451 DOMAINE ANNE PARENT POMMARD LA CROIX BLANCHE 2010 $99.00 $69.99 "A village wine that Anne has lavished a truck load of care and attention, each of the parcels are vinied separately and brought together to produce a delicious Village level Pommard. The fruit in this is forward, fragrant and quite magical." - LW

Domaine Bonneau du Martray Bonneau du Martray has been run since 1993 by Jean Charles de la Morinière, an architect, who has returned to the 11 ha family property to manage it. The vineyard is on the side of the great Corton Hill, near Pernand and whilst it is one continuous site, the parcels of grapes are treated separately in the winery to maintain the individual characteristics to allow them to reflect as one great wine. Maturation is 33% in new oak for 12 months, the wines is blended and then assembled for a further 6 months of oak maturation. Since 1994 Jean-Charles de la Morinière has been fine-tuning the estate that his father brought back to life. 40730 DOMAINE BONNEAU DU MARTRAY CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2004 $245.00 $184.00 Wine Spectator, 93/100: "A focused beam, this white wraps its lime, mineral, apple and vanilla notes around a core of bracing acidity. Has intensity and balance, yet this is firm and crisp on the finish for now, with real stony length. Best from 2010 through 2030. 400 cases imported." - BS 40732 DOMAINE BONNEAU DU MARTRAY CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2005 $265.00 $199.00 Jancis Robinson, 18.5/20: "Lovely smoky nose with real richness underneath. Charming breadth but no lack of tension. Not fat at all though very intense. Powerful and mineral. Opened five days ago. Apparently it tastes just the same. Very fresh and firm and with great spine." 40722 DOMAINE BONNEAU DU MARTRAY CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2006 $245.00 $184.00 Wine Spectator, 94/100: "A whiff of chalk dust, along with a vanilla note, introduces this intense white. Flavors of peach, grapefruit and oak spice persist through the finish, with a mineral streak. Powerful and balanced, with a lingering aftertaste. Best from 2011 through 2024. 450 cases imported." - BS 40721 DOMAINE BONNEAU DU MARTRAY CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2007 $255.00 $130.99 Stephen Tanzer, 92/100: "Pale yellow. Complex nose melds lemon, lime, apple, flowers, powdered stone and sexy fresh herbs. Silky on entry, then quite firm in the middle, with the crushed stone element initially dominating underlying fruit. With aeration, this showed a richer texture and emerging citrus fruit and floral qualities. There's a slightly saline quality here and a firm spine but the wine avoids coming off as hard or rough. Still, its classically dry finish, with flavors of pineapple and crushed stone, give it a youthful austerity. This was bottled in the spring of 2009, and I would not be surprised if it went into a shell in the next 6 to 12 months." 40731 DOMAINE BONNEAU DU MARTRAY CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2008 $235.00 $177.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92/100: "Very pale yellow-green color. Nose dominated by lime, crushed stone and steely minerality. Densely packed and almost painfully dry, with taut, penetrating citrus and mineral flavors showing more energy than flesh today. This ungiving grand cru has plenty of depth and flavor intensity but is an infant today. The stony, austere finish is like touching a live wire. This seems every bit as steely as the estate's 2007 at the same stage but denser; in fact, this may be even more closed." 40716 DOMAINE BONNEAU DU MARTRAY CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2009 $199.00 $155.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93/100: "Pale, bright yellow. Reticent nose hints at lemon and baked bread. Rich, powerful and dry, with terrific depth to its lemon, white peach and stone flavors. A densely packed, broad Corton-Charlemagne with serious underlying structure. The classically dry finish saturates the palate with pineapple and crushed stone. Should be long-lived in the context of the year." 40733 DOMAINE BONNEAU DU MARTRAY CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2010 $245.00 $180.00 Burgundian Chardonnay at its best. A subtle influence of wood lies beneath the restrained nose of fresh, spice caressed pears and apples, while the delicate, mineral infused flavours slide in leisurely fashion across a silken palate. Long, refined, beautifully balanced, cellar it. 40729 DOMAINE BONNEAU DU MARTRAY CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2010 $135.00 $105.00 Burghound, 92-95/100: "A very subtle hint of wood frames the restrained, airy, cool and very fresh nose of green apple, citrus and lightly spiced pear aromas that introduce intensely mineral-driven flavours that possess a mouth feel of pure silk. There is ample dry extract that buffers well the very firm and bright acidity that supports the transparent, long and refined finish. This is beautifully well-balanced and while it s very early on, this appears that it will reach its apogee somewhat sooner than is typical."

Domaine Chanson The House was founded in 1750 in the reign of Louis XV by Simon Verry. The Chanson family already owned a large Domaine located across Beaune, Savigny les Beaune and Pernand Vergelesses which was added to the company. In 1999 Chanson was bought by the Family Champagne Group Societé Jacques Bollinger. The Chanson estate produces over a quarter of its own fruit requirements. The other grapes are sourced from growers selected according to their commitment to quality in alignment with Chanson s quality Charter. Individual plot selection produces fruit which also remains separate through the fermentation and ageing processes. The soil is ploughed to encourage the vines to extend their roots more deeply and therefore better express the typicity of the Terroir. All the grapes are hand-picked at optimum maturity. 44518 DOMAINE CHANSON BEAUNE CLOS DE FEVES 2005 2005 $95.00 $70.99 44519 DOMAINE CHANSON VOSNE ROMANEE SUCHOTS 2005 $129.00 $96.99 Aromas of cherry mixed with toffee and liquorice on a hint of vanilla. Domaine de Bellene Domaine de Bellene is Nicolas Potel s new Domaine in Beaune. Nicolas Potel is one of the new breed of young and dynamic Burgundy producers. After the death of Nicolas s father Gerard Potel in 1997 and the subsequent sale of his Domaine de la Pousse d Or, Nicholas started his own business based near Nuits Saint Georges. He has since left that business and is now making wines at Domaine de Bellene. A large number of the growers that Nicolas worked with in Nuits Saint Georges have followed him and supply the grapes for his new property. Over the years, Nicolas has converted many of his growers to organic practices following his philosophy, Domaine de Bellene is 100% Organic, Carbon Neutral and using donkeys and horses for all vineyard work. Nicolas Potel has gone from strength to strength, establishing himself as one of the top winemakers in Burgundy. 42828 DOMAINE DE BELLENE BEAUNE 1ER CRU CLOS DU ROI 2009 $99.00 $69.99 Burghound, 89-91/100: "As is typical for this cru, it is quite ripe with a liqueur of red pinot fruit nose that is in keeping with the very generous, rich and overtly fleshy soil-inflected medium weight flavors that are supported by firm, ripe and dusty tannins that are well integrated. I like the delivery though there is less overall complexity than the best of these Beaune 1ers. Vineyard planted in 1962. Drink: 2017+." 42837 DOMAINE DE BELLENE BEAUNE 1ER CRU CLOS DU ROI 2010 $99.00 $69.99 "Tasting all three of Nicolas Beaune 1er Cru side by side is an interesting exercise, for me the Montée Rouge is the power and structure of the wine, the Pertuizots offers the fruit and fragrance, whilst Clos du Roi managed to bring together the best of both of previous two, integrated, excellent fruit, textured - my style of Beaune." - LW 42397 DOMAINE DE BELLENE BEAUNE 1ER CRU LES PERRIERES 2007 $111.00 $57.99 Stephen Tanzer, 88/100: Medium red. Brooding aromas of red fruits, anise, mint and tobacco. Spicy, musky aromas of red fruits, pepper and herbs show limited definition. With moderate mid-palate stuffing, the herb and bitter chocolate finish comes across as slightly dry. A broad-shouldered wine but a bit rough and lacking in depth. 42396 DOMAINE DE BELLENE BEAUNE 1ER CRU MONTEE ROUGE 2007 $107.00 $55.99 Rich in coulor showing a very dark, purple hued ruby-red colour. This has a very firm and densely concentrated nose of ripe, black plum aromas with spicy, cedary oak, dark herbs and pepper. 42826 DOMAINE DE BELLENE BEAUNE 1ER CRU MONTEE ROUGE 2009 $99.00 $69.99 Up at the serious end, it s aromatically clean and clear with a delicate touch of wood. The flavours are elegantly rich and medium weighted. The soft, lush red berryfruit and fine-grained tannins echo with subtle, stony notes. Recommended drinking time is from 2017 onwards. 42835 DOMAINE DE BELLENE BEAUNE 1ER CRU MONTEE ROUGE 2010 $99.00 $77.00 "The second to last vintage from this vineyard for Nicolas Potel as he is grafting the vineyard over to Chardonnay. Nicolas characterised this wine as for people who like tannin in their Pinot Noir." - LW 42398 DOMAINE DE BELLENE BEAUNE 1ER CRU PERTUISOTS 2007 $111.00 $59.99 The nose shows a liqueur-like ripeness and lovely perfume to its red fruit aromas. A rather opulent, round style of Beaune, with mouthfilling red fruit flavors nicely framed and enlivened by spices and pepper. Little sign of Beaune rusticity here. Finishes with dusty tannins and lingering spice. 42827 DOMAINE DE BELLENE BEAUNE 1ER CRU PERTUISOTS 2009 $99.00 $69.99 Burghound, 89-92/100: "This offers a step up in aromatic elegance with very pretty red currant, rose petal and raspberry aromas that precede finer, and somewhat purer, middle weight flavors that are given shape by the firm but phenolically ripe tannins on the solidly deep, long and satisfying finish. Worth a look. Outstanding. Drink: 2016+." 42836 DOMAINE DE BELLENE BEAUNE 1ER CRU PERTUISOTS 2010 $99.00 $69.99 "This vineyard was planted in 1963, this is not a wine for the faint hearted, the palate is massively powerful, a dense Beaune, packed with fragrant fruit, whilst powerful it managed to be round and voluptous at the same time." - LW 42813 DOMAINE DE BELLENE COTE DE NUITS VILLAGE BLANC 2010 $69.00 $54.00 42816 DOMAINE DE BELLENE MEURSAULT LES FORGES 2010 $99.00 $77.00 "Only a tiny amount of this made - 1 barrique, a bolder style of Chardonnay that Nicolas s other wines, rich, creamy, plenty of oak, a delicious ripe and round wine right now." - LW

42830 DOMAINE DE BELLENE NUITS SAINT GEORGE VIEILLES VIGNES 2009 $54.00 $42.00 Stephen Tanzer, 88-91/100: Good deep red. Crushed blackberry and licorice on the nose. Juicy, intensely flavored and tightly wound, offering excellent concentration and structure for village wine. Deep, rising finish shows firm tannins buffered by fruit. 42829 DOMAINE DE BELLENE NUITS SAINT GEORGES VIEILLES VIGNES 2009 $89.00 $69.99 Loving the Domaine de Bellene Maison Dieu Bourgogne and wondering if it can get any better? It certainly can, with the next step up the village level: from the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges, this complex and sensual Pinot Noir is vibrant and fragrant, with nice acidity and flair. 42839 DOMAINE DE BELLENE NUITS SAINT GEORGES VIEILLES VIGNES 2010 $99.00 $77.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Bright, deep red. Dark fruits, licorice and oak spices on the nose. Fat and sweet on the palate, with lovely foral lift to the sappy dark berry and pepper favours. Really dense and creamy for village wine. Finishes broad, sweet and long, with substantial ripe tannins. Like the Volnay and Nuits-Saint-Georges, this was aged in 600- litre barrels, a format Potel is using more and more for his village wines." 42831 DOMAINE DE BELLENE NUITS SAINT GEORGES VIEILLES VIGNES 2009 $224.00 $165.00 Stephen Tanzer, 88-91/100: Good deep red. Crushed blackberry and licorice on the nose. Juicy, intensely flavored and tightly wound, offering excellent concentration and structure for village wine. Deep, rising finish shows firm tannins buffered by fruit. 42832 DOMAINE DE BELLENE NUITS SAINT GEORGES VIEILLES VIGNES 2009 $515.00 $299.00 Stephen Tanzer, 88-91/100: Good deep red. Crushed blackberry and licorice on the nose. Juicy, intensely flavored and tightly wound, offering excellent concentration and structure for village wine. Deep, rising finish shows firm tannins buffered by fruit. 42393 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SAINT ROMAIN BLANC VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $62.00 $33.99 A beautifully crafted wine, the St Romain Blanc wine displays a hint of apple at first on the nose, and exhibits a delightful freshness on the palate along with a tinglingly light and refreshing aftertaste. 42814 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SAINT ROMAIN BLANC VIEILLES VIGNES 2010 $59.00 $39.99 Jancis Robinson, 16.5/20: "Top-quality grapes bestow this pale, green-gold Chardonnay with lovely ripe aromatic characters of apple blossom and tropical fruit. The palate is dominated by ripe, concentrated flavours balanced by a squeeze of citrus that enlivens the finish." 42394 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SANTENAY LES CHARMES DESSUS 2008 $71.00 $49.99 Jancis Robinson, 16/20: From a vineyard just next to Maranges. Pretty, perfumed, sweet, relatively light but good dynamic stuff. Very chewy and racy on the finish. 42821 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SANTENAY LES CHARMES DESSUS 2009 $69.00 $48.99 This comes of the Southern parts of Santenay, in this part you do find some botrytis occurring, in previous years Nicolas has removed the affected grapes, but from the 2008 vintage he decided to leave it in the wine. The nose is lifted and fragrant, lovely richness, not creamy, but rich and round with a lovely balanced finish. 42812 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SANTENAY LES CHARMES DESSUS 2010 $69.00 $52.99 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Pale-medium yellow. Subtle but expressive aromas of apple and pear complicated by clove and nut oil. The palate offers good energy and intensity to the pear and spice flavours. Not a fleshy style--in fact a bit lean on the back end--but the dry, rocky finish shows very good lift and length." 42818 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE 1ER CRU LES 2010 $99.00 $77.00 Jancis Robinson, 16/20: "50-year-old vines just above Dominode, a bit cooler. A core of fruit and good attack. Very firm. Well structured." 42819 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE 1ER CRU LES 2010 $99.00 $77.00 Stephen Tanzer, 88/100: "Good bright dark red. High-toned, perfumed aroma of cherry and licorice. Broad and supple in the mouth, with a slightly medicinal quality but also enticing sweetness to the cherry fruit. Finishes with subtle persistence. This seems just about ready to drink!" 42391 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE BLANC 2007 $71.00 $37.99 Lush ripe stonefruits and a hint of oak greet you on the nose. This is an elegant wine with style, fresh and clean with excellent balance. 42833 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE BLANC 2009 $69.00 $48.99 Stephen Tanzer, 88/100: "From very old vines with an average age of 55 years. Pale yellow. Slightly reduced nose smells richer and smokier than the Santenay. In a fatter and sweeter style, with a lush texture supported by surprising minerality and lemony grip on the back end." 42811 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE BLANC 2010 $69.00 $49.99 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Pale, bright straw-yellow. Aromas of peach, nutmeg, coconut and vanillin oak. Juicy, well-delineated flavours of pear and white peach offer considerable early appeal but also have the underlying mineral firmness to evolve slowly in bottle. Finishes dusty and persistent. I find this and the Santenay more perfumed in the mouth today than most of the Maison de Bellene bottlings, which are also made by Nicolas Potel." 42392 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE VIEILLE VIGNES 2007 $71.00 $39.99 Pale red with a pale rim. Sexy red fruits, orange peel and loamy earth on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Not fleshy but juicy and spicy, with firm acids framing the redcurrant and red cherry fruit. Finishes with slightly rustic but typical suggestions of leather and soil.

42820 DOMAINE DE BELLENE SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE VIEILLE VIGNES 2009 $69.00 $48.99 Burghound, 86-89/100: "Here the nose is bursting with Savigny-style earth on the ripe and pretty red pinot fruit nose that introduces nicely rich, round and fleshy middle weight flavors that are also admirably delicious and while there is a touch of rusticity to the supporting tannins, the overall impression is a straightforward wine that should drink well relatively early. Drink: 2014+." 42395 DOMAINE DE BELLENE VOLNAY 2007 $98.00 $49.99 A juicy red wine with a smooth, plush core of fruits complemented by fine tannnis. 42825 DOMAINE DE BELLENE VOLNAY LES GRANDS POISOTS 2009 $96.00 $69.99 Very fragrant and distinctly Volnay a strong masculine wine, it has a taut bold mouthfeel. A nice wine, big though it'll need time, great length. 42834 DOMAINE DE BELLENE VOLNAY LES GRANDS POISOTS 2010 $99.00 $76.99 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Good full red. Pure aromas of cherry, spices and licorice. Supple, sweet and gentle, with a touch of reduction. A juicy, slightly lean wine with sweet tannins and good length." 42840 DOMAINE DE BELLENE VOSNE ROMANEE LES QUARTIERS DE 2010 $125.00 $89.99 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Good full red. Musky stony minerality dominates the nose. Broad, fine-grained and dry, with lovely lift to the raspberry and mineral flavours. A dense, rather suave village wine with persistent dark berry flavours. Incidentally, a section of Les Quartiers de Nuits is classied as Echezeaux."

Champagne de Courcel Based in Pommard this Domaine produce wines that are quintessential Pommard. Pommard wines are bold, firm and age gracefully for a decade or more. This is not say these wines are not enjoyable now. Courcel has been in hands of Gilles de Courcel since 1976. Gilles leaves the day-to-day running to Yves Confuron who is proving to be a master of the Pommard soils, extracting fantastic flavour and intensity from the headstrong Pinot Noir grape. 42331 DOMAINE DE COURCEL POMMARD 1ER CRU CROIX NOIRES 2001 $86.00 $56.00 Stephen Tanzer, 88/100: "Full medium red. Big, slightly reduced nose features red cherry, raspberry, strawberry and leather; distinct hint of surmaturite Fat and broad, with flavors of red fruits macerated in alcohol. Finishes with even, dusty, slightly dry tannins." 42328 DOMAINE DE COURCEL POMMARD 1ER CRU CROIX NOIRES 2003 $99.00 $55.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Paler medium red. Nutty oak dominates aromas of plum and game. Silky and suave in the mouth, but a bit less fat than the Vaumuriens. A subtle minerality runs through this rather elegantly styled wine. Tannins here are a bit firmer than those of the Vaumuriens, but there's good lingering fruit and nutty oak. This rather mellow wine, which is further along in its elevage, grew on me as I retasted it." 42313 DOMAINE DE COURCEL POMMARD 1ER CRU CROIX NOIRES 2004 $98.00 $59.00 Robert Parker, 88/100: "From a tiny and little-known cru just north of Fremiers and below Rugiens and Chaponnieres, the Courcel 2005 Pommard Croix Noires combines bitter-sweet candied black cherry with high-toned maraschino aromatics. Intensely fruited and salty in the mouth but without any superficial sweetness, its substantial finish is marked by somewhat coarse tannins that one hopes are only temporarily obtrusive. 42319 DOMAINE DE COURCEL POMMARD 1ER CRU EPENOTS 2001 $100.00 $63.00 Wine Spectator, 92/100: "Dense and brooding, with a core of sweet cherry, licorice and spices locked behind a door of ripe, mouthcoating tannins. There's an innate sense of balance, power and fleshiness, but patience is the key. Best from 2006 through 2015." 42329 DOMAINE DE COURCEL POMMARD 1ER CRU FREMIERS 2000 $96.00 $57.00 Down the hill a bit from the Les Rugiens vineyard is the hallowed turf of the Fremeirs vineyard. Being a few minutes' walk apart means, being Burgundy that the expression of Pinot here is markedly different than it is up there. Huh? More truffle, less ruffle, slightly shyer fruit, seamless oak integration. The unifying theme is, of course that anything from De Courcel tends to be utterly exquisite. 42317 DOMAINE DE COURCEL POMMARD 1ER CRU FREMIERS 2001 $86.00 $56.00 Wine Spectator, 90/100: "Full, rich and meaty, this evokes sweet spices, licorice and cherry flavors buoyed by a wall of ripe tannins. Intense and long on the palate, yet needs time to integrate the oak. Super Pommard." 42336 DOMAINE DE COURCEL POMMARD LES VAUMURIENS 2000 $83.00 $52.99 Domaine de Courcel is one of Pommard's best producers, as their robust 2000, an excellent Côte d'or vintage, from the Vaumuriens vineyard effortlessly demonstrates. This is rich and full-bodied. A part new oak barrel-aged burgundy with plenty of ripe, plummy, yet velvety fruit. 42332 DOMAINE DE COURCEL POMMARD LES VAUMURIENS 2001 $80.00 $48.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Roasted red fruits, smoke, minerals and spices on the nose. Ripe but a bit dry, still holding something in reserve. Tannins are firm but ripe."

Domaine des Comtes Lafon The Domaine des Comtes Lafon can be found on one of the understated roads on the way out of Meursault. Not the largest building in the area but from another era and unquestionably grandiose none the less. Domaine des Comtes Lafon's great white wines are nurtured in the deepest and coldest cellars in Burgundy. These wines a supremely well balanced with astonishing depth and complexity. The white wines are consistentl;y among the best in the region while the reds (since 1989) have reached the top devision. Comtes Lafon is owned and managed by Dominque Lafon who took over in 1984. He is set about recovering all the domaine's vines as metayage contracts come to an end. The domaine is now cultivated according to biodynamic principles with no use of herbicides or chemical sprays. 40606 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON BUSSIERES LE MONSARD MACON BLANC 2007 $80.00 $51.00 40621 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON BUSSIERES LE MONSARD MACON BLANC 2011 $80.00 $45.00 40604 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON CLOS DE LA CROCHETTE MACON BLANC 2007 $78.00 $49.00 Stephen Tanzer, 90/100: Light yellow. Powerfully aromatic nose offers lush orchard and pit fruits, smoke and lees; smells like one of Lafon's Meursaults and tastes like one too. Palate-coating yellow apple and mirabelle flavors are brightened by a subtle citrus note. This impressively deep wine could handle a rich lobster or chicken dish with ease. - JR 40629 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON CLOS DE LA CROCHETTE MACON BLANC 2010 $78.00 $49.00 40614 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON MEURSAULT 1ER CRU CHARMES 2008 $350.00 $214.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93/100: Complex nose combines peach, apple, crushed stone, marzipan and sexy vanillin oak, plus a high note of cherry. Rich, suave and concentrated but not as silky today as the Genevrieres. In fact, this very juicy wine comes across as almost lean. Best today on the very long, juicy, lemon-and-limey back end. This has a lower ph than the Genevrieres, notes Lafon, who can always come up with a terrific blend here, as he enjoys one of the prime positions in Charmes, just next to Perrieres, and is able to blend juice from 18-, 40- and 75-year-old vines, declassifying barrels he's less happy with. This is Lafon's flagship white premier cru bottling and a consistent winner; happily, it's much easier to find in the marketplace than the Perrieres. 40610 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON MEURSAULT 1ER CRU CHARMES 2009 $370.00 $227.00 40612 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON MEURSAULT 1ER CRU CHARMES 2010 $350.00 $227.00 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate: The 2010 Meursault Charmes has found a level of focus over the last year that it didn t have from barrel. The characteristic Charmes richness is there, but over time, the wine s mineral elements have taken on additional prominence. Layers of deep, resonant fruit crescendo to the textured, multi-dimensional finish. This is a great showing from Comtes Lafon. Anticipated maturity: 2015+. Antonio Galloni 95/100 points. 40605 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON MEURSAULT 1ER CRU GOUTTE D'OR 2007 $305.00 $228.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92-93/100: Citrus peel and an almost metallic oyster shell minerality on the nose. Then richer and sweeter in the mouth than the nose would suggest, with strong acidity contributing an impression of power. This tightly coiled wine finishes with a whiplash of citrus and mineral flavors. 40613 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON MEURSAULT 1ER CRU GOUTTE D'OR 2008 $305.00 $214.00 40615 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON MEURSAULT 1ER CRU GOUTTE D'OR 2010 $376.00 $227.00 Robert Parker, 91/100: "The 2010 Meursault Goutte d Or fleshes out in the glass with serious richness. Yellow stone fruits, smoke and spices are all layered beautifully. The Goutte d Or shows the richer, more intense side of village-level Meursault. This is an effortless, gracious wine laced with deep, rich layers of fruit and a totally inviting finish. I can t remember tasting a more polished and flat-out appealing young Goutte d Or. Anticipated maturity: 2014+." - AG 40633 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON MEURSAULT 1ER CRU PERRIERES 2010 $399.00 $252.00 Robert Parker, 95/100: "The 2010 Meursault Perrieres is the most sublime, refined of the Meursault premier crus. It melds elements of precise minerality and expressive fruit to match its understated, soft personality. In a sense, it brings together the best of the Genevrieres and Charmes. Hints of white flowers and mint add lift on the finish, but this is another wine that is heading straight for a period of dormancy. Anticipated maturity: 2015+." - AG 40608 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON MEUSAULT CLOS DE LA BARRE 2008 $230.00 $142.00 40602 DOMAINE DES COMTES LAFON MILLY LAMARTINE MACON 2007 $78.00 $42.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Greenish gold. Fresh citrus and green apple scents are complicated by thyme, mint and mineral nuances. Racy and precise, with tangy lime and pink grapefruit flavors gripping the palate and picking up dusty talc and quinine character with air. Domaine Faiveley Domaine Faiveley is located in France, at the heart of Viticultural Burgundy, between Dijon and Beaune in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Historically based in the Côte de Nuits capital, the Faiveley family has progressively extended its domaine and today owns vineyards in the finest climats in Burgundy - Gevrey-Chambertin, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet, Mercurey and others. The vineyards are very fragmented. The average surface area per appellation is around just 1 hectare. The number of bottles produced for each wine is therefore very limited. 44508 FAIVELEY BATARD MONTRACHET 2009 $460.00 $314.00 44536 FAIVELEY BATARD MONTRACHET 2010 $490.00 $348.00 44505 FAIVELEY BIENVENUE BATARD MONTRACHET 2009 $410.00 $283.00 44533 FAIVELEY BIENVENUE BATARD MONTRACHET 2010 $450.00 $315.00 44543 FAIVELEY CHAMBERTIN CLOS DE BEZE 2009 $440.00 $302.00 44546 FAIVELEY CLOS DE VOUGEOT 2009 $250.00 $173.00 44541 FAIVELEY CLOS DE VOUGEOT 2010 $290.00 $189.00 44569 FAIVELEY CORTON CHARLAMAGNE 2009 $340.00 $235.00 44532 FAIVELEY CORTON CHARLAMAGNE 2010 $340.00 $231.00 44531 FAIVELEY CORTON CLOS DE CORTON 2006 $221.00 $142.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93/100: "Huge and sweet, but with outstanding verve and lift for a wine of this dimension. Powerful red fruit flavors are punched up by pungent iodiney minerality, giving this wine outstanding energy. A great sappy essence of pinot noir in the making, and very long on the aftertaste, with tannins that are amazingly suave for Corton." 44573 FAIVELEY GEVREY CHAMBERTIN 2007 $85.00 $64.00 A brilliant dark ruby colour. The expressive and complex nose has aromas of red fruits with woody notes. This Gevrey Chambertin is perfectly balanced and reflects all the elegance of Pinot Noir beautifully. 44534 FAIVELEY GEVREY CHAMBERTIN COMBE AUX 2009 $127.00 $88.00 44537 FAIVELEY GEVREY CHAMBERTIN COMBE AUX 2010 $127.00 $85.00 44565 FAIVELEY NUITS ST GEORGES LES PORETS ST 2009 $127.00 $88.00 44506 FAIVELEY NUITS ST GEORGES LES ST GEORGES 2009 $182.00 $126.00 44528 FAIVELEY PULIGNY MONTRACHET CHAMPS GAINS 2010 $139.00 $88.00 44566 FAIVELEY PULIGNY MONTRACHET LES FOLATIERES 2009 $150.00 $104.00 44529 FAIVELEY PULIGNY MONTRACHET LES FOLATIERES 2010 $150.00 $100.00 44542 FAIVELEY CHAMBERTIN CLOS DE BEZE 2006 $382.00 $238.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93-96/100: "Deep red-ruby. Pure but reticent nose hints at wild berries, crushed stone and dried flowers. Pure, pungent, sappy and almost painfully young today, with terrific intensity to its tight core of berry, mineral, floral and spice flavors. Finishes with outstanding palate-saturating length. This is likely to be one of the longer-lived wines of this vintage." 44579 FAIVELEY CHAMBERTIN CLOS DE BEZE 2007 $420.00 $314.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93-95/100: "Saturated dark red. Knockout nose combines liqueur-like raspberry, coffee, smoke, licorice and brown spices. Tightly coiled and powerful, conveying an impression of energy but at the same time sweeter and more harmonious than the Mazis. Perhaps best today on the extremely long, palate-staining finish, which features an almost electric impression of precision and complex suggestions of minerals, coffee and spices. Hervet describes 2007 as a vintage that offers great transparency of terroir, and this wine could serve as Exhibit A." 44547 FAIVELEY CLOS DE VOUGEOT 2006 $226.00 $146.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92/100: "Good deep red-ruby color. Medicinal black cherry, licorice and flowers on the nose, lifted by a peppery note. Suave, juicy and firm, with black cherry flavors complicated by sweet spices. This expands impressively on the back half, finishing with terrific length, finesse and spicy grip. As powerfully structured for aging as this wine is, it does not come across as hard or bitter today." 44570 FAIVELEY CORTON CHARLEMAGNE 2006 $362.00 $227.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93-96/100: "Explosive, exotic nose offers red cherry, red licorice and mint. Huge and sweet, but with outstanding verve and lift for a wine of this dimension. Powerful red fruit flavors are punched up by pungent iodiney minerality, giving this wine outstanding energy. A great sappy essence of pinot noir in the making, and very long on the aftertaste, with tannins that are amazingly suave for Corton."

44576 FAIVELEY CORTON CLOS DE CORTON 2007 $236.00 $178.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92-94/100: "Good deep red. Tightly wound, precise aromas of black cherry, blueberry, licorice and minerals. Then superripe and highly concentrated but not liqueur-like in the mouth, with a compelling sweetness and perfume to its extremely primary berry flavors. This almost youthfully brutal wine exhibits a superb balance of sweetness and powerful acidity and finishes with outstanding energy. Sure to require a long elevage and a solid decade of bottle aging." 44538 FAIVELEY CORTON CLOS DE CORTON 2010 $260.00 $176.00 44539 FAIVELEY ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU 2010 $290.00 $189.00 44535 FAIVELEY GEVREY CHAMBERTIN COMBE AUX 2006 $125.00 $76.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89-92/100: "Medium red. Aromatic nose offers cherry, red berries, licorice and mint. Pure, precise and penetrating, with high-pitched, fruit-driven flavors of red berries, spices and minerals. Not at all an animal style of Combe aux Moines. Finishes with noteworthy subtlety and sweet tannins." 44545 FAIVELEY LATRICIERES CHAMBERTIN 2010 $320.00 $209.00 44578 FAIVELEY MAZIS CHAMBERTIN 2007 $295.00 $219.00 Stephen Tanzer, 91-94/100: "Good deep, saturated red. Wild aromas of dark raspberry, roasted coffee and smoked meat. Dense, sappy and youthfully imploded, with saline soil tones contributing to the penetrating quality in the middle palate. Very tightly coiled wine with a deep core of spicy red fruits. This should explode with eight or nine years of cellaring. In 2008 this cuvee will include some young vines, but not in 2007. This is always the last to be bottled, while the Latricieres is one of the first, noted Hervet." 44548 FAIVELEY MAZIS CHAMBERTIN 2010 $360.00 $240.00 44571 FAIVELEY NUITS ST GEORGES LES ST GEORGES 2006 $164.00 $104.00 Wine Spectator, 95/100: "Warm spice and mulled cherry flavors quickly concede to stiff tannins. This has sweetness midpalate, along with intensity. Seems closed down now. Hints of licorice and mineral define the finish. Give this a few years. Best from 2010 through 2018." 44575 FAIVELEY NUITS ST GEORGES LES ST GEORGES 2007 $180.00 $136.00 Stephen Tanzer, 91-93/100: "Medium red. The aromas of red cherry and raspberry are lifted by mineral and floral perfume. Suave, dry and complex, with sappy flavors of saline red berries, minerals, flowers and truffle. Very young and unevolved but already quite smooth in texture. The slowly mounting finish throws off lovely subtle perfume and conveys an impression of energy."

Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur Bernard Gros, whose vineyards back onto Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, produces his wines in a similar style to Michel, but very different terroir in his vineyards results in wines with more power than his brother and sister. His quality begins with the fact he owns top quality parcels in each appellation. His Clos Vougeot- Musigni for example, is at the premier top of the cru just beneath the slope of Musigny, hence the name. One of the more conscientious producers, Bernard strictly limits his yields for the depth and concentration of fruit he seeks, and the wines are only lightly fined, never filtered. Gros Frère wines are deep and dark and whilst known for their expressive aromatics, their bigger structure and back bone means they definitely demand time in the bottle. 41005 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR BOURGOGNE COTE DE NUITS ROUGE 2008 $39.00 $23.99 With significant holdings in Burgundy s most illustrious appellations, the Gros family have between them three separate, individually owned and operated domaines. Gros Frère & Soeur is run on traditional lines by Bernard Gros. This is 100% Pinot Noir fruit, matured in a mixture of new and seasoned barrels and lightly fined, but not filtered. It displays fragrant rose petal, raspberry and cherry aromas framed by understated oak. The well structured and integrated palate has distinctive berryfruit flavours that linger on through the firm finish. 41004 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR BOURGOGNE COTES DE NUITS BLANC 2008 $49.00 $29.99 Bernard Gros replanted large blocks of Chardonnay in the Hautes-Côtes to reduce cropping levels and maximise ripeness and flavour. The fruit was hand harvested, partially barrel fermented, lees stirred, given some malolactic and matured in seasoned oak. The distinctive citrus aromas are embellished by spice notes and understated oak, while the savoury palate displays mineral nuances, and a lush character that complements the ripe stonefruit and citrus flavours. 41007 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR BOURGOGNE HAUT COTE DE NUITS 2006 $44.00 $30.99 Burghound, 83/100: "This is slightly riper with a hint of exotic fruit on the nose that is in keeping with the round and delicious flavors that offer good richness but also seem almost flat and flabby after the '07. To be sure, this is perfectly good for what it is but certainly not distinguished." 43142 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR BOURGOGNE HAUT COTE DE NUITS 2007 $62.00 $33.99 Burghound, 85/100: "A grassy and very citrusy nose introduces round barely middle weight flavours supported by a hint of underlying minerality and good mid-palate fat, all wrapped in a racy, clean and very dry finish. This isn't overly complex but certain attractive enough for its level." 41013 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR BOURGOGNE HAUTES COTE DE NUITS 2010 $49.00 $44.10 Burghound, 84-86/100: "Noticeable but not dominant wood frames an expressive and high-toned nose of apple, white flowers and citrus zest. There is good richness to the round, delicious and straightforward flavors that will drink well immediately after the wine is bottled." 41030 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR BOURGOGNE HAUTES COTES DE NUITS 2010 $49.00 $34.99 Managed these days by Bernard Gros, the wines of this domaine are traditional in style, rich and full bodied with clean, precise flavours. Bright but deeply flavoured red fruits, supple and silky tannins and an oak presence that plays an unobtrusive but critical part. Great value. 43152 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR CLOS VOUGEOT 2006 $200.00 $145.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Good deep red. Musky aromas of black plum, currant and licorice. Fat, thick, sweet and deep; opulent verging on unctuous, with alcohol of 14%. Finishes with big, tongue-dusting tannins and a note of smoked meat." 43153 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR CLOS VOUGEOT 2007 $233.00 $115.00 Burghound, 92/100: "This too has ample wood spice that highlights the seductive and more evidently ripe red fruit nose that also offers up a hint of animale that can also be found on the rich, full-bodied and supple flavors that are impressively powerful, all wrapped in a vibrant and driving finish. Very solid quality here in a mildly woody style." 41037 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR CLOS VOUGEOT 2008 $182.00 $135.00 Expressive nose offers dark raspberry, smoked meat, spices and minerals. The sweetest yet of these 2008s, with a firm acid spine giving shape to the dark berry and mineral flavors. This offers good shape and cut and finishes clean and persistent. 41017 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR CLOS VOUGEOT MUSIGNI 2010 $199.00 $155.00 Robert Parker, 92-94/100: "The 2010 Clos de Vougeot-Musigni emerges from the glass with freshly cut flowers, red berries and mint. Bright aromas and flavours meld into precise, mineral notes as the wine shows off its energetic, focused personality. Layers of sweet perfumed red fruit blossom beautifully on the deep, textured finish. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030."

41023 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR CLOS VOUGEOT MUSIGNY 2004 $141.00 $99.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Good bright ruby-tinged red. More serious, sappy aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, smoked meat and minerals. Lush and seamless wine with notes of chocolate and underbrush. Not the last word in thrust or intensity but possesses very good volume and balance. And there's no shortage of material here. The yield was 42 hectoliters per hectare, but Gros emphasizes that "there's not a vine missing." " 43146 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR ECHEZEAUX 2006 $191.00 $144.00 Wine Spectator, 90/100: "Offers plenty of sweet black cherry and chocolate notes, but also solid tannins. Balanced and long, turning more supple with air. Needs time, or decant to enjoy now. Best from 2011 through 2018." 43147 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR ECHEZEAUX 2007 $221.00 $112.99 Stephen Tanzer, 90/100: "Medium red. Black raspberry, licorice, smoke and minerals on the nose. Fat and broad but with good energy provided by minerals, spices and herbs. This chewy, concentrated wine conveys a saline impression of extract. No shortage of acidity here." 41016 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR ECHEZEAUX 2008 $173.00 $130.00 Stephen Tanzer, 85-87/100: "Supple and spicy, with modest lift to the black raspberry, spice and mineral flavours. Offers decent sweetness but finishes with edgy acidity and slightly drying tannins." 41019 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR ECHEZEAUX 2009 $195.00 $152.00 41038 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR ECHEZEAUX 2010 $199.00 $155.00 Burghound, 93/100: "Here too the wood influence is far from subtle but even so it manages to avoid dominating the naturally spicy red currant, plum and violet suffused aromas. There is also a mild touch of toast on the detailed and solidly concentrated and well-detailed flavors that possess a controlled sense of power on the focused, linear and impressively persistent finish. This moderately structured effort should also reward 12 to 15 years of cellar time and while it is definitely toastier than I prefer, it is flat out gorgeously long." 41020 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR GRAND ECHEZEAUX 2001 $200.00 $135.00 WIne Spectator, 93/100: "Aromatic, offering floral, cherry, spice and a touch of game, then concentrated, ripe fruit on the palate. It's all backed by a vivid structure and ripe, well-integrated tannins. Terrific finish. Seductive 2001 Burgundy. Drink now through 2015." 41021 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR GRAND ECHEZEAUX 2008 $315.00 $237.00 Wine Spectator, 94/100: "A profound red, this is deep and complex, offering fresh cherry and blackberry aromas and flavors that pick up spice and toasted oak accents. It's elegant and refined, with harmony and a long, sandalwood aftertaste. Best from 2009 through 2030." 41022 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR GRAND EXCHEZEAUX 2004 $231.00 $174.00 Stephen Tanzer, 90/100: Good full, bright red. Primary aromas of black cherry, minerals and underbrush. Broad and lush for the year but without any impression of weight; the sweetest to this point of these 2004s. This fills the mouth with perfume. Finishes silky and persistent, with fine-grained tannins, a peppery nuance and a lovely return of fruit. Still a bit youthfully closed; this should benefit from a few years of cellaring." 43156 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR GRANDS ECHEZEAUX 2006 $342.00 $257.00 Wine Spectator, 90/100: "Lush and tinged with chocolate, this red offers black cherry and spice flavours, with a hint of mint. Firm, yet with fruit to balance the tannins, lingering on the finish. Needs time to absorb the tannins. Best from 2010 through 2017." 43157 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR GRANDS ECHEZEAUX 2007 $396.00 $202.99 Burghound, 92/100: "A much more reticent and strained nose and while there is ample wood present here as well, it's better integrated at this early stage and allows the red and black pinot fruit and earth aromas to shine. The precise and minerally broad-shouldered flavours are supported by a firmly structured tannic spine and good underlying material. This is balanced and admirably long." 41036 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR GRANDS ECHEZEAUX 2010 $399.00 $310.00 Robert Parker, 92-94/100: "The 2010 Grands-Echezeaux is weightless and impeccable. Subtlety and elegance are the backbone of this beautifully balanced Grands-Echezeaux. Dark cherries, blackberries, spices, licorice and tar all flow through effortlessly to the inviting, seamless finish. Despite its deceptively medium-bodied personality, the wine has plenty of depth, not to mention terrific overall balance. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030." 41024 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR RICHEBOURG 2004 $351.00 $264.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92/100: "Good bright deep red. Complex, primary aromas of black cherry and minerals. Sweet, lush and layered, with red raspberry fruit complicated by underbrush, mint and spices. A firm but harmonious edge of acidity contributes to the impression of structure. This broad, classically dry wine finishes with sweet tannins and palate-saturating persistence. Very sexy but built to age." 43155 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR RICHEBOURG 2007 $561.00 $286.99 Wine Spectator, 92/100: "Medium red. Sweet aromas of red fruits and spices. Opulent and deceptively open, with a thickness to its cherry, mineral and underbrush flavors. The suavest and longest of this range, finishing with strong fruit tones and lingering minerality." 41025 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR RICHEBOURG 2008 $504.00 $378.00 Stephen Tanzer, 87-90/100: "In a disturbed state today, with the aromas and flavors lacking clarity. There's an enticing sweetness and notes of minerals and cinnamon but also an earthy, mushroomy quality that gives the wine a distinctly wild character. I wanted a bit more grip and primary character. Finishes with edgy, slightly drying tannins. All these wines beginning with the Vosne villages are aged in 100% new barriques." 41018 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR RICHEBOURG 2010 $580.00 $450.00 Robert Parker, 93-95/100: "The 2010 Richebourg boasts a huge centre of fruit, deeply pitched, expressive aromatics and tons of structure to back it all up. Violets, menthol and spices develop in the glass, adding tons of complexity and character. The aromas and flavours reach a big, expressive crescendo on the finish. This is a fabulous showing from Bernard Gros. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035."

41012 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANE 2010 $99.00 $77.00 Burghound, 89-91/100: "This is aromatically similar though here there is a bit more depth to the cool and agreeably airy nose. There is fine detail to the lightly mineral-infused medium-bodied flavours that possess slightly better precision on the balanced and long finish. This isn t especially concentrated but I like the style and the wood is not especially prominent even if it s not imperceptible." 43144 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 2006 $103.00 $78.00 Wine Spectator, 84/100: "Vegetal, but there's bilberry, currant and spice flavors underneath. The tannins are grainy, and the finish echoes spice. Just a tad dry. Best from 2011 through 2018. 50 cases imported." 43143 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 2007 $120.00 $60.99 Stephen Tanzer, 88/100: "Medium red. Raspberry and smoked meat on the nose. Lush and sweet, with concentrated, rather thick raspberry and smoke flavors and no hard edges." 41008 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 2008 $97.00 $73.00 Pretty muscular for a Pinot Noir, this, with dray loads of dark fruits and a butchershop quartet of meats and those French 'barnyard' characters we've all come to know and love. Intense and concentrated. 41009 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 2009 $99.00 $77.00 Sumptuous, celestial, rich, fat, expansive (expensive). Staggeringly perfumed, decadent and hedonistic. Has great finesse and more stuffing than their nearest rivals'. That's Vosne for you. 41010 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 2009 $180.00 $140.00 Wine Spectator: Watery and dilute, this brick-colored, light-bodied Vosne is already showing old-age signs, with a mushroom and tea leaf character that dries the tannins. 517 cases made. 43148 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU 2006 $132.00 $99.00 Wine Spectator, 88/100: "A rich, ripe version, boasting cherry, blackberry and spice notes. Peppery and firm from start to finish. Astringent at the end. Best from 2011 through 2019." 43149 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU 2007 $153.00 $77.99 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "Medium red. Aromas of plum, spices and smoked meat. In a very sweet style, but less fat than the village wine, with saline and earth tones dominating the palate today. The finish features slightly dry tannins and an edge of acidity, but also good persistence." 41035 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU 2008 $164.00 $123.00 Burghound, 89-91/100: "The rich and very generous medium-bodied flavors are seductively textured and quite sappy as they coat the palate on the naturally sweet and reasonably persistent finish." 41031 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU 2008 $124.00 $93.00 Burghound, 89/100: "A very ripe nose of red currant, plum, cassis and Vosne-style spice is couched in mild oak influence that can also be found on the very rich, round and suave medium-bodied flavors that are delicious and easy-to-like and culminate in a tangy and sappy finish. There is more here compared to the villages but it's not quite as well balanced." 41032 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU LES 2010 $189.00 $147.00 Burghound, 89/100: "An extremely fresh nose exhibits a bit more obvious application of wood toast that stops just short of fighting with the spicy black fruit nose that precedes the round and sappy flavors that possess a toasty finish that offers very good if not sensational persistence. In sum, this is pretty toasty but not unbalanced because of it." 43150 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE LES CHAUMES 2006 $178.00 $134.00 Robert Parker, 87/100: "Gros's 2006 Vosne Romanee Chaumes offers slightly discordant scents of framboise liqueur; alkaline, briny sea breeze; and caramel that borders on burnt sugar. All three elements persist prominently on the palate, with the mineral salinity in principle offering a nice foil to the wine's sappy sweetness of fruit, but the caramel remaining detached into the finish." 43151 GROS FRÈRE ET SOEUR VOSNE ROMANEE LES CHAUMES 2007 $204.00 $103.99 Burghound, 89/100: "The nose is slightly riper with very fresh and relatively high-toned aromas of red and blue pinot fruit, anise, clove and a hint of soy that is also picked up by the rich, clean and notably precise medium-bodied flavors that offer good finishing precision."

Domaine Jessiaume Impossible to miss, the small jewel of Domaine Jessiaume sits welcomingly at the entrance to the tiny spa town of Santenay. Built in 1850, it comprises over 37 acres, with a large plot in Santenay, important holdings in the Premier Crus Auxey Duresses Les Ecusseaux and Volnay Les Brouillards vineyards, and a terrific section of the Cent Vignes vineyard, just behind the city of Beaune. The Jessiaumes are, in fact, the biggest landowners in Santenay. Domaine Jessiaume established their negociant business Maison Jessiaume in 2008 and a formidable reputation as a small negociant eleveur of unparalleled quality has been formed to complement the existing Domaine holdings. 42701 DOMAINE JESSIAUME AUXEY DURESSES 1ER CRU ECUSSEAUX 2007 $73.00 $38.99 Deep ruby colour and rich aromas of small fruits (blackcurrant, blueberry, blackberry, peony) confer a delicacy and smooth complexity reminiscent of Volnay. 42717 DOMAINE JESSIAUME AUXEY DURESSES 'ECUSSEAUX' 2009 $69.00 $54.00 If you are looking for a value for money Burgundy - usually impossible to find look no further, this really does over deliver. It s not your usually rustic Auxey, the style of the 2009 is more fruity, new world and then on the finish, the rustic charm of this village comes through. LizW. 42705 DOMAINE JESSIAUME BEAUNE CENT VIGNES 2007 $78.00 $41.99 Burghound, 88/100: "Light ruby. A highly expressive nose that is already open for business reveals bright and pure red pinot fruit aromas trimmed in a light dusting of earth nuances that are also reflected by the nicely precise barely medium-weight flavors that are supple and quite forward, all wrapped in a mildly structured finish of good if not superior length. This is on the lighter side but offers good flavor authority and balance." 42743 DOMAINE JESSIAUME BEAUNE CENT VIGNES 1ER CRU 2009 $78.00 $61.00 Yet another of the Jessiaume 2009 wines that surprised us. In fact, the quality here was more like that of a Grand Cru than a 1er Cru the site they have here is really special. The tannins are very forward, but at the same time, fine and elegant. It has great length and hope for those that cellar it. 42707 DOMAINE JESSIAUME CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 1ER CRU 2008 $147.00 $111.00 42702 DOMAINE JESSIAUME SANTENAY 2007 $48.00 $25.99 Brilliant colour, plus peony and violet aroma nuanced with liquorice make for a wine with a deep and intense attack and a persistent mouth-finish. 42718 DOMAINE JESSIAUME SANTENAY 2009 $46.00 $36.00 Santenay is a wonderful part of Burgundy, the wines here tend to deliver great value as it's not a part of the region that's widely sought after. The 2009 from Jessiaume is earthy and subdued on the nose. The palate is more spicy with cherry notes, then on the finish it's juicy, chewy and those cherry notes return. 42704 DOMAINE JESSIAUME SANTENAY GRAVIERES 1ER CRU 2007 $73.00 $38.99 42719 DOMAINE JESSIAUME SANTENAY GRAVIERES 1ER CRU 2009 $78.00 $61.00 "This is a historic site for Jessiaume, it's been the backbone for years and in the family's cellars, the older bottles of Santenay that they have kept are from this 1er Cru. The 2009 nose is quite round and bold, the palate wow what a wine! Fine, taught tannins that open up to a lovely, fine wine with great length. This was my pick from the 2009 Jessiaume I tasted." - LW 42706 DOMAINE JESSIAUME VOLNAY 2007 $92.00 $49.99 Pale pomegranate colour. Bouquet offers notes of gooseberry, cherry, and violet. Its delicacy is pure Côte de Beaune. White meats, poultry and refined cheeses bring out its feminine character. 42703 DOMAINE JESSIAUME VOLNAY BROUILLARDS 2009 $91.00 $71.00 Burghound, 87/100: "A ripe, pretty, earthy and expressive red berry fruit suffused nose introduces detailed, supple and lacy flavors that like the Cent Vignes, are just shy of being medium weight and culminate in a delicious and lightly structured finish that is mildly dry though lingering."

Domaine Leflaive 46705 LEFLAIVE BATARD MONTRACHET 2010 $640.00 $400.00 Robert Parker, 97/100: "The 2010 Batard-Montrachet covers every inch of the palate with fruit. In 2010, the Batard is towering, statuesque and simply impeccable. Today the aromas and flavors are not at all developed, rather the wine is really all about textural elegance and finesse, and there is plenty of that here. A huge, explosive finish rounds things out in style. The Batard is a wine of contrasts. At times it is quite bold and extroverted, at others it possesses admirable restraint. Either way, it is magnificent. Anticipated maturity: 2020+." - AG 46719 LEFLAIVE BOURGOGNE BLANC 2008 $160.00 $105.00 46739 LEFLAIVE BOURGOGNE BLANC 2010 $99.00 $51.00 Robert Parker, 90/100: "The domaine s 2010 Bourgogne is a gorgeous wine at this level. It captures all of the Leflaive signatures in a remarkably pure, crystalline interpretation of the year. Bright, saline notes frame the fruit in this precise, jewel of a wine. Readers will not want to miss this gem. If there is a relatively affordable entry-level 2010 from a top-notch domaine that captures the greatness of the vintage, this is it. Anticipated maturity: 2012+." - AG 46718 LEFLAIVE MONTHELIE 1ER CRU SUR LA VELLE 2010 $120.00 $66.00 46707 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET 2002 $240.00 $146.00 46724 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET 2008 $220.00 $140.00 46736 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET 2010 $190.00 $89.00 Robert Parker, 90/100: "The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet caresses the palate with soft, expressive fruit. This beautiful, open Puligny villages will delight readers pretty much upon release. Hints of smoke, slate and crushed rocks are layered into the textured, inviting finish. It is another terrific entry-level offering from Leflaive. Anticipated maturity: 2012+." - AG 46706 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET CLAVOILLON 2002 $280.00 $179.00 46723 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET CLAVOILLON 2008 $260.00 $175.00 46735 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET CLAVOILLON 2010 $260.00 $119.00 Robert Parker, 92/100: "The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Clavoillons fleshes out beautifully in the glass with layers of expressive, textured fruit. This is one of the more open, forward wines in the lineup. It should drink nicely pretty much upon release. Yellow stone fruits, flowers and a hint of spice wraps around the soft, enveloping finish, where the minerality of the vintage emerges with pretty, finely-knit nuances. Anticipated maturity: 2014+." - AG 46721 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET FOLATIERES 2008 $360.00 $232.00 Wine Spectator, 92/100: Bright and lemony, with accents of peach and hazelnut. This has enough substance to match its vivid structure, staying sleek and elegant. The clean, racy finish offers a touch of mineral. Best from 2012 through 2021. 81 cases imported. BS 46720 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET PUCELLES 2005 $390.00 $252.00 46737 LEFLAIVE RULLY LES CLOUS 1ER CRU 2010 $140.00 $66.00 Robert Parker, 87/100: "Another pretty, entry-level wine, the 2010 Rully Les Clous shows good roundness and depth for the year, with attractive spiced notes that add complexity on the generous, inviting finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012+." - AG 46738 LEFLAIVE SOUS LE DOS D'ANE 2005 $280.00 $146.00 46712 LEFLAIVE CHARMES CHAMERTIN 2010 $410.00 $221.00 46711 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET 2005 $220.00 $97.00 46714 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET COMBETTES 2010 $360.00 $173.00 Robert Parker, 94/100: "A highly attractive melange of citrus, flowers and white stone fruits dazzles the palate as the 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Combettes shows off its striking personality. The Combettes impresses for its crystalline purity and sheer detail. It is one of the most overly mineral driven wines in the lineup. The energy and tension in the glass is pure 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2016+." - AG 46734 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET FOLATIERES 2010 $320.00 $173.00 Robert Parker, 93/100: "Another of the flashier wines in the lineup, the 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Folatieres is quite intriguing. The fruit is quite bold and racy, something that is only accentuated over time as the wine opens up in the glass. At the same time, underlying veins of minerality begin to appear, providing the perfect foil to the wine s increasingly tropical tendencies. I imagine the richer, more exotic notes will only intensify over time, yet there is plenty of acidity to support the fruit. Eric Remy told me this was the first wine to finish its malolactic fermentation. Anticipated maturity: 2014+." - AG

46729 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET PUCELLES 2010 $390.00 $221.00 Robert Parker, 95+/100: "The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Pucelles is a totally complete wine. It brings together the expressive bouquet and minerality of Combettes with some of the expressive fruit of the Folatieres. Vivid and multi-dimensional in the glass, the Pucelles wraps around the palate with serious intensity. Citrus, white flowers and green pears linger on the highly nuanced, refined finish. Today, though, the 2010 is incredibly tight. Its pedigree is impossible to miss. Leflaive s Pucelles is easily one of the highlights of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2015+." - AG 46733 LEFLAIVE PULIGNY MONTRACHET CLAVOILLON 2005 $260.00 $247.00

Domaine Lamarche The family history in the village of Vosne-Romanée dates back to around 1740; from the end of the 19th Century the estate has grown considerably. Henri Lamarche, a cooper, married Marie Grivelet from Chambolle Musigny and founded the estate. Today the estate is run by the sixth generation, Nicole and Nathalie. From early in the 1700s wines were produced by various members of the family off the prestigious terroirs of Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot, including from La Grande Rue, a monopole of the estate and one of the rare Grand Crus of Vosne-Romanée. 42894 DOMAINE LAMARCHE BOURGOGNE 2008 $45.00 $29.99 Burghound, 83-86/100: "A pretty nose of red berry fruit and earth aromas precedes clean, crisp and nicely detailed flavours that possess a touch of minerality on the delicious if mildly tangy finish." 42980 DOMAINE LAMARCHE BOURGOGNE 2009 $39.00 $29.99 Burghound, 84-87/100: "A very fresh red berry fruit nose cut with earth and underbrush hints leads to round and supple flavours that are shaped by mildly rustic tannins, all wrapped in a delicious and easy to like finish. This should reward 2 to 3 years of cellar time if desired." 42985 DOMAINE LAMARCHE BOURGOGNE 2010 $39.00 $29.99 Burghound, 84-87/100: "An expressive nose of earth red berry fruit leads to attractively ripe, delicious and vibrant flavours that possess a dusty finish and good length on the moderately complex and balanced finish. Correct." 42990 DOMAINE LAMARCHE BOURGOGNE HAUTES COTE DE NUITS 2010 $49.00 $29.99 Burghound, 84-87/100: "Here the nose is similar if slightly cooler and a bit more elegant as well. There is an attractive verve and excellent freshness to the supple, delicious and more sophisticated mouth feel as the supporting tannins are finer, all wrapped in a balanced finish that offers similar length but not quite the same depth. A qualitative choice though the character of each wine is distinct." 42987 DOMAINE LAMARCHE CLOS DE DE VOUGEOT 2010 $199.00 $149.00 Burghound, 91-93/100: "A very fresh nose of red currant, earth and soft floral aromas merges into cool, precise and utterly delicious medium weight plus flavours that possess a mouth coating and moderately austere finish. This has fine balance and the finish is just as persistent as that of the Ech but it s not quite as complex. To be fair, it may achieve more depth in time as there is good underlying material. Still, I prefer to remain conservative at this early stage." 42982 DOMAINE LAMARCHE DE ECHEZEAUX 2009 $189.00 $135.00 Burghound, 90-93/100: "Heavy reduction and copious wood make for a very difficult nose. However, the very rich, round, opulent and suave medium weight plus flavours possess excellent dry extract levels that buffer the very firm tannins on the attractively enduring finish. This possesses fine potential despite being youthfully awkward today." 42897 DOMAINE LAMARCHE DE ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU 2008 $164.00 $99.00 Aromas of redcurrant, mocha and tobacco this is supple, sweet and essentially soft, with flavours of red fruits, minerals and nutty oak. 42988 DOMAINE LAMARCHE DE ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU 2010 $199.00 $145.00 Jancis Robinson, 18/20: Very impressive and subtle on the nose. Great density and complexity. Lots of rich fruit. Extremely exuberant. A blind tasting of everyone s Échezeaux would be interesting...! Long and reverberant." 42984 DOMAINE LAMARCHE HAUTS COTES DE NUIT 2009 $45.00 $29.99 Burghound, 85-88/100: "A slightly more elegant and definitely cooler nose of red pinot fruit merges into fresh, intense and solidly well-detailed flavours that evidence an attractive touch of minerality on the balanced and lingering finish. This is really quite good and worth a look plus it will age too." 42899 DOMAINE LAMARCHE LA GRANDE RUE 2008 $380.00 $285.00 Maturation in oak casks for between 16 and 20 months an bottled with no fining and no filtering, juicy with cherry, rasberry and smoked meat on the nose. 42989 DOMAINE LAMARCHE LA GRANDE RUE 2010 $499.00 $385.00 Burghound, 95/00: "This is quite ripe though still fresh and bright with intensely spicy aromas of red berry and cherry liqueur. There is a seductively silky texture to the middle weight and delicious flavors that possess excellent depth as well as seriously impressive persistence. As with many wines in the range in 2010, the phenolically mature tannins possess a very fine grain and while firm, they are already well-integrated. The overall impression of this lovely effort is one of balance and harmony. In a word, terrific."

42896 DOMAINE LAMARCHE VOSNE ROMANEE CHAUMES 2008 $125.00 $99.00 Burghound, 88/100: "A very Vosne nose of spicy red berry fruit, plum and violet aromas trimmed in a discreet application of wood leads to round, supple and delicious flavors that are supported by a mildly tangy finish and tannins that are just ripe enough to avoid overt asperity." 42986 DOMAINE LAMARCHE VOSNE ROMANEE CHAUMES 2010 $145.00 $99.00 Jancis Robinson, 16.5/20: "Very dramatic and rich on the nose. Lots of acidity. And some oak. Somehow a little bit of a construct, but gosh there is a lot here! Very dramatic. Perhaps not for purists..." 42981 DOMAINE LAMARCHE VOSNE ROMANEE LES CHAUMES 2009 $139.00 $99.00 Burghound, 89-91: "Here the wood is more discreet if not invisible with an expressive nose that is very Vosne in basic character as it's quite generously spiced. The ripe and fresh nose introduces suave, rich and mouth coating medium-bodied flavours that possess good dry extract levels on the seductive, persistent and energetic finish."

Domaine Laroche The name Domaine Laroche is synonymous with Chablis. For five generations, the family has been dedicated to producing top quality wines from the appellation. Michel Laroche joined the company in 1967. Convinced of the appellations potential for high quality wines, Laroche embarked on a period of expansion taking the holdings from 6 hectares in 1967 to over 130 hectares of prime Chablis vineyard today. "To produce the best Chablis, you need to produce the best grapes". This is how Michel Laroche summarises the Domaine Laroche approach to viticulture. The focus is on creating the optimum conditions to achieve optimum quality grapes - purity and "typicite" being the heart of the Domaine Laroche philosophy. 48480 DOMAINE LAROCHE CHABLIS GRAND CRU LES BLANCHOTS 2005 $143.00 $99.00 Jancis Robinson, 17/20: "Low-key nose, slightly reminiscent of putty. Chewy. Clear cut, crystalline, looking very good." 48549 DOMAINE LAROCHE CHABLIS GRAND CRU LES CLOS 2006 $208.00 $145.00 Robert Parker, 91/100: "Recently filtered in preparation for bottling, the Laroche 2006 Chablis Les Clos displays ravishing aromas of honeysuckle, quince, and herbal essences. A caressing texture, juicy generosity, and wafting sweet floral perfume make this an instant charmer, and it lingers very convincingly." 48558 DOMAINE LAROCHE CHABLIS GRAND CRU LES CLOS 2007 $181.00 $89.00 Robert Parker, 92/100: "Combines overtly, almost adamantly stony character with fresh lime, peach, fig, and hints of lanolin and vanilla from its slightly more than one-third barrel. Another very straight and long-lined expression of this site and vintage, it takes its sense of grip from chalky intensity, citrus zest, and fruit pit bitterness, but incorporates a richness of fruit that serves it well in a seamless and - although highly mineral - sappy and sensually satisfying mouthful." 48496 DOMAINE LAROCHE CHABLIS GRAND CRU LES CLOS 2009 $180.00 $125.00 Stephen Tanzer, 91-93/100: "Pale bright yellow. Expressive but subtle aromas of stone fruits and flowers. Silky-sweet, lush and easygoing yet quite young, and showing little of the oak influence displayed by the last couple of 2009s. Finishes classically dry and fine-grained, with sound mineral grip and impressive length." 48548 DOMAINE LAROCHE LES BLANCHOTS GRAND CRU 2006 $165.00 $99.00 Wine Spectator, 89/100: "Delicately scented with white flowers, peach and mineral, turning more minerally on the palate. Juicy and fresh, with a mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2017." 48557 DOMAINE LAROCHE LES BLANCHOTS GRAND CRU 2007 $143.00 $73.99 Robert Parker, 91/100: "Rich and creamy yet with a welcome sense of buoyancy and refreshment, it finishes with lemon zest, white pepper, pungent herbs, and crushed stone in a very straight, long-lined, penetrating finish, and should be worth following for 5-7 years." 48553 DOMAINE LAROCHE LES VAILLONS VIEILLES VIGNES 1ER CRU 2006 $81.00 $59.00 Stephen Tanzer, 90-92/100: "Pale yellow. Highly perfumed aromas of fresh peach, stone and quinine. Rich, creamy and sweet, but with excellent energy and an impression of spicy acidity to the fruit-driven peach and nectarine flavors. Finishes ripe, pure, suave and long." 48575 DOMAINE LAROCHE RESERVE DE L'OBEDIENCE 2010 $260.50 $199.00 The wine is light, clear and radiant. The nose is rich, complex and buttery. A percussion of aromas. The palate is intense and finely polished. A sharpness expressed by the fruit, and a sublime finish. 48547 DOMAINE LAROCHE RESERVE DE L'OBEDIENCE 2006 $240.00 $180.00 Burghound, 90/100: "A very generously oaked nose replete with wood spice and vanilla notes frame the exotic yellow orchard fruit, mango and papaya aromas that precede the round, rich and broad-shouldered flavors where more wood influence appears on the obviously concentrated and powerful finish. There is good minerality and impressive length and while this is not at all my style, fans of power and/or generously wooded Chablis may find it interesting."

Domaine Michel Gros Anne s brother Michel uses more traditional methods of production and his wines are almost rustic in style. His domaine was also created in 1995 after receiving his share of the inheritance from his father. 7 years later at the international Wine Challenge he was awarded the title of Red Winemaker of the Year. He then proceeded to win it the next year as well! 43161 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS BLANC HAUTES COTES DE NUITS 2007 $52.00 $39.99 The grape of choice for white Burgundy is, of course, Chardonnay; here it was harvested by hand and initially cool fermented in tank before being transferred to barrel to complete the fermentation process. Following six to eight months of maturation, the wine was gently filtered and bottled. Aromas of stonefruit and lime are accompanied by nutty nuances, over a palate of well-defined fruit displaying a creamy suppleness and a crisp, spice-edged finish. 41403 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS BOURGOGNE HAUTES COTE DE NUITS 2010 $49.00 $29.99 Wine Spectator, 89/100: High-toned, this bursts with floral, strawberry and raspberry aromas and flavors. Delicate and perfumed, offering a racy, linear structure. Best from 2015 through 2022. 3,600 cases made. - BS 41126 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS BOURGOGNE HAUTES COTE DE NUITS 2010 $49.00 $28.99 Wine Spectator, 89/100: High-toned, this bursts with floral, strawberry and raspberry aromas and flavors. Delicate and perfumed, offering a racy, linear structure. Best from 2015 through 2022. 3,600 cases made. - BS 41125 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS BOURGOGNE HAUTES COTES DE NUITS 2009 $51.00 $27.99 Quite the little smarty pants this, sort of a drophead coupe: stylish, sassy, if you will, and classy rather than brash. The fruit- cherries mostly- is welldefined, the palate more than generous. The overall charm will sweep you away, bottle in hand screaming 'no sleep till Dijon' or some arrant nonsense. Endless hours of fun. 41068 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS BOURGOGNE HAUTS COTES DE NUITS 2009 $50.00 $26.99 Sixth generation in the Gros family dynasty of winemakers, Michel Gros inherited vineyard parcels from his father, Jean, in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, and he has since expanded his holdings in the appellation via new plantings on previously abandoned vineyard sites. This release boasts a seductively fragrant nose of red berries and raspberries embellished by spicy notes, and the medium-weighted palate displays brisk, pure fruit flavours framed by supple tannins. 43166 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2006 $100.00 $85.00 Wine Spectator, 89/100: "There's a succulence to the black cherry and black currant flavours in this red, along with firm underlying tannins. A tad dry on the finish. Best from 2011 through 2018." 43167 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2007 $109.00 $56.99 41404 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2008 $95.00 $72.00 Burghound, 88/100: "From 4 different vineyards - two-thirds of it is from Les Argillières, a lieu-dit that directly abuts Musigny on its northern border. An extremely fresh and admirably pure nose of cool and layered red pinot fruit aromas merges into precise, even crisp medium-bodied flavors that display a linear quality on the moderately persistent finish. Drink 2015+." 41110 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2009 $104.00 $81.00 Burghound, 88/100: "Elegantly detailed pinot fruit with sweet, sappy, medium weight flavours that have added good depth and weight since the mise. Lovely villages and this is really quite persistent." 43178 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS CLOS VOUGEOT 2006 $239.00 $180.00 Burghound, 92/100: "Here the ample wood treatment runs more toward oak spice than toast and frames intensely earthy red and dark berry fruit aromas where the earth continues onto the powerful and well-muscled, rich, full and intense flavours that display the classic young Clos de Vougeot austere finish. This has plenty of depth to it and should age well." 43179 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS CLOS VOUGEOT 2007 $263.00 $135.99 Burghound, 93/100: "Noticeable wood spice frames fresh, densely fruited and intensely earthy dark berry fruit aromas that are followed by mildly toasty big-bodied and solidly concentrated flavors that possess excellent energy and punch on the delicious, palate soaking and lengthy finish. This offers impressive potential and a bit less youthful austerity than usual."

41402 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS CLOS VOUGEOT 2008 $223.00 $168.00 Burghound, 89-92/100: "A fresh but reserved and rather somber nose of clean red berry fruit and earth aromas is trimmed in a discreet application of oak that leads to crisp, detailed, tautly muscled and precise flavors that also possess a slight finishing edginess though excellent complexity. I very much like the underlying sense of relief and tension and I suspect that this will round out in time as there is a lot of gas at present." 41106 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS CLOS VOUGEOT 2009 $254.00 $197.00 Chambolle is 'an iron fist in a velvet glove'. This wine is no exception: elegant, silky and yet with an underlying power and structure. Ripe, fresh and young, approachable and satisfying now. 43162 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS HAUTES COTES DE NUITS ROUGE 2006 $48.00 $36.00 Burghound, 86/100: "Somewhat surprisingly, this is actually slightly riper with a pretty mix of red and blue berry fruit aromas that complement the round and nicely precise flavours that are also delicious but, again somewhat surprisingly, less elegant and this too finishes with a touch of astringency and obvious minerality." 43163 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS HAUTES COTES DE NUITS ROUGE 2007 $48.99 $27.99 A dark, smoky wine featuring black cherry, black currant and chocolate notes. Firmly structured, with a long finish. 43180 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS MOREY SAINT DENIS 2006 $96.00 $72.00 Wine Spectator, 92/100: "A graphite aroma gives way to dark fruit flavors in this mineral-laden red, which is brooding and backed by solid tannins. A sweet blackberry note returns on the long finish." 43181 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS MOREY SAINT DENIS 2007 $103.00 $54.99 Burghound, 87/100: "This too is mildly reduced though in this case, underneath the funk red berry fruit can be detected. The middle weight flavors also possess a touch of stone on the detailed but decidedly edgy finish. This is one wine that would probably benefit from being fined. 2011+." 41067 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS MOREY SAINT DENIS 2008 $91.00 $69.00 Wine Spectator, 87/100: "A fresh 2003, offering black cherry and black currant aromas and flavours; very pure and concentrated. It's backed by firm yet well-integrated tannins and the finish is long." 41391 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS MOREY SAINT DENIS EN LA RUE DE 2009 $99.00 $77.00 Wine Spectator, 91/100: "Full of bilberry, wild cherry and black currant notes, backed by bright acidity and dense tannins. A supple style, with concentration and fine length. Needs time." 43183 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS MOREY SAINT DENIS EN LA RUE DE 2010 $99.00 $77.00 43170 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUIT SAINT GEORGES LES CHALIOTS 2006 $100.00 $75.00 Burghound, 88/100: "For what is normally moderately more elegant, in 2006 the tables are reversed as this is much more animale and distinctly vegetal without being under ripe and this vegetal character can also be found on the rich, intense and distinctly rustic medium full flavors blessed with good extract if not much nuance on the equally dusty and youthfully austere finish." 43171 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUIT SAINT GEORGES LES CHALIOTS 2007 $103.00 $54.99 Burghound, 88/100: "This too possesses a relatively refined, pure and elegant nose with mild earth influence on the red and blue pinot fruit that evidence sauvage tones that carry over to the rich, precise and punchy middle weight flavors that are quite rustic and agreeably stony if openly rustic on the linear and tension-filled finish. 2013+." 41112 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES 2001 $71.00 $44.99 Nuits can be a bit tough in its youth, but while this has a certain elasticity, it's definitely supple not stubborn. Plenty of dark fruit and dank earth- and undercurrents of oak. Fabbo value, too. 43168 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES 2006 $96.00 $72.00 Wine Spectator, 90/100: "Aromas of graphite, blackberry, mineral and oak spice introduce this complex, rich red. The blackberry note continues on the palate, and there's fruit to cover the dense tannins. Fine length. Best from 2010 through 2017." 43169 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES 2007 $103.00 $54.99 Burghound, 88/100: "From three different parcels, all on the Vosne side. Brilliant ruby. An unusually elegant nose of red pinot fruit with undertones of earth and animale complements cool and delicious medium-bodied flavors that are classic Nuits in character and this finishes with firm and notably rustic tannins. 2013+." 41069 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES 2008 $91.00 $69.00 This is bright, dark cherry fruit. There is plenty of peppery character and it is taut with energy and lively acidity. The tannins are assertive while the finish has a bright, crunchy, cranberry fruit character. 41121 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES 2009 $170.00 $132.00 Burghound, 90-92/100: "A background note of wood influence does not significantly interfere with the transparency of the pungent earth and dense, wild red and black fruit aromas that slide gracefully into the suave middle weight flavors that possess slightly rustic tannins on the powerful, tight and impressively long finish. This is completely different from the Brûlées but qualitatively almost identical." 41114 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES 1ER CRU 2001 $124.00 $74.99 Burghound, 89/100: "Abundant wood spice with obvious vanilla notes but much less toast and the rich flavors are intense, powerful and offer excellent volume and concentration. The finish is long, sappy and impressively complex and while this is woodier than I personally prefer, it is certainly blessed with good underlying material and a real sense of style."

43172 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES 1ER CRU 2006 $166.00 $125.00 Burghound, 90/100: "This is usually one of Gros' best wines (see the '05) but in '06 it has competition as the expressive and ripe but not really deep nose features a blend of wood spice and ripe red berry fruit nuanced with hints of cassis and earth that continue onto the rich, full and generous flavors that possess good power and a velvety mouth feel on the rather masculine and persistent finish." 43173 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES 1ER CRU 2007 $181.00 $94.99 Burghound, 92/100: "From old vines in Murgers and Vignerondes that Gros says always give heavy millerandage. Relatively strong reduction renders the nose difficult to evaluate but there is good freshness in the mouth with flavors that are concentrated, rich and powerful plus possess an appealing mouth feel on the long, complex, serious and palate staining finish. This is lovely and very Nuits in character yet not rustic or unduly tannic.sweet Spot Outstanding 2015+." 41394 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES 1ER CRU 2008 $160.00 $120.00 Darker and higher aroma. Very pure, light energetic, dancing wine. The tannins are supple and the texture fine. This has a little more dark spice and bite in the middle palate. It is fresh and breezy. 41129 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES LES CHALIOTS 2008 $91.00 $69.00 The ole Nuits can be a bit sturdy and often, dare we say it 'austere' particularly when young, but Michel keeps his finger on the flavour trigger, injects some softness and keeps it all winsome. 41393 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES LES CHALIOTS 2009 $99.00 $77.00 This is altogether richer with a deep, dark fruit undertone. It is juicy, dense and very nicely compact.there are notes of dark quartzy liquorish and the acidity lifts the finish. 43182 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS NUITS SAINT GEORGES LES CHALIOTS 2010 $99.00 $77.00 Jancis Robinson, 16.5/20: "Rich, ripe fruit and some hint of chestnuts. Solid effort and should never disappoint those who look for some solidity and extract in their Nuits. There is some juice here too. Well done!" 43165 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE 2007 $108.00 $56.99 Burghound, 89/100: "From 3 different parcels in Aux Réas, La Columbière and Au-Dessus de la Rivière; raised in <35% new wood. A subtly spiced and much more expressive red pinot fruit nose merges into pretty and relatively elegant flavors that are richer, fuller and finer, all wrapped in a delicious and distinctly floral finish that also has an edge to it but here it's much more discreet. 2012+." 41115 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE 2008 $95.00 $72.00 Good Burgundy tasted good from birth'- i.e. it's got to be the goods from the get go to continue to be the goods. This velvety, smoky, smooth and stylish number is just getting' betterer. 41100 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE 2009 $104.00 $81.00 Particularly impressive this showing rich, dark fruits and a sweet finish but still with the structure and restraint that one would associate with this great Domaine. Best drunk in the first flush of youth but save a few bottles as this may surprise you in years to come. 41124 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU 2004 $141.00 $106.00 Burghound, 89/100: "Deep ruby. Distinctly ripe and perfumed aromas of warm earth, underbrush, spice, dark berry fruit and a subtle smokiness complement perfectly the supple, sweet but robust medium full flavors that finish with impressive complexity and solid power. This is firmly structured but not hard or aggressive and the natural ripeness of Brulées comes through here." 43176 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE AUX BRULEES 1ER 2006 $166.00 $125.00 Burghound, 91/100: "This too displays moderate toast but it's better integrated if hardly invisible, working with a spicy black fruit and diverse floral notes that infuse the nose and are in concert with the round, sweet, rich and intense flavours that are an attractive mix of power and elegance. A lovely, balanced and vibrant effort." 43177 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE AUX BRULEES 1ER 2007 $181.00 $94.99 Burghound, 92/100: "30+ year old vines that abut the A. F. Gros Richebourg parcel; aged in 50% new wood. Here the nose blends mild reduction with layered red berry fruit, warm earth and Asian spice notes that are in keeping with the rich, full and tautly muscled medium-bodied flavors brimming with dry extract on the textured, firm and relatively powerful finish that delivers excellent length and intense minerality. Worth a look. Outstanding 2015+." 41395 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE AUX BRULEES 1ER 2008 $156.00 $117.00 Decanter, 18.5/20: "Ripe, upright, compact and vigorous. The acidity is good; the tannins are spicy and firm and the fruit is dark. Pacy wine with the elegance typical of this grower. Drink 2015-2025." 41102 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE AUX BRULEES 1ER 2010 $159.00 $124.00 41074 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE CLOS DE REAS 1ER 2003 $192.00 $144.00 Wine Spectator, 91/100: "Very pure, exuding black cherry and blackberry aromas and flavours, this red is finely textured and harmonious. It ends with a long aftertaste of cherry and spice. Best from 2007 through 2020." 43174 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE CLOS DE REAS 1ER 2006 $171.00 $129.00 Burghound, 89/100: "A relatively ripe and distinctly toasty nose of spicy red and dark berry fruit aromas sit atop rich and quite full-bodied flavours that offer ample volume on the dusty finish that displays slightly better ripeness of the structural elements than any of the preceding wines."

43175 DOMAINE MICHEL GROS VOSNE ROMANEE CLOS DE REAS 1ER 2007 $188.00 $97.99 Burghound, 91/100: "A 2.12 ha monopole with vines averaging 35 years of age and aged in 50% new wood. Interestingly, this is notably spicier though not necessarily more refined or more elegant with slightly riper red, blue and black pinot fruit aromas that also display moderate soil tones that continue onto the rich, round and generous flavors that possess good volume yet no lack of detail on the dusty and slightly chewy finish. This is a bit more rugged than usual as a classic Clos des Réas is normally a wine of silk and lace. 2014+."

Domaine Romanin Domaine Romanin is located in Burgundy in the village of Fuisse, right in the heart of the famous vineyard of Pouilly-Fuisse. Domaine Romanin has seen five generations of winegrowers. Respecting tradition is thus essential in crafting exemplary and authentic wines. The vines enjoy a south/south-eastern exposure thus favouring full ripeness of the grapes and the clay and limestone soil, characteristic of the region, favours the harmonious development of aromas typical of Chardonnay, with both fruity and floral nuances. The cru Pouilly-Fuisse is produced from 100% Chardonnay. 43732 DOMAINE ROMANIN POUILLY FUISSE TERROIR DE FUISSE 2012 $35.00 $24.99 Chardonnays from the southern part of Burgundy, may not have the cachet of, say, Môntrachet in the north, but neither do they have the price tag. Yet, as is clear from this thrilling expression, wines from the limestone soils of the Mâcon and from arguably its finest vineyards, those of Pouilly-Fuissé, can hold their heads high among the more noted cousins from the north. Deliciously buttery, this has that balance of strength and sensitivity that is so very attractive, and a pragmatic minerality combined with a hedonistic combination of honeysuckle, fruit and cream. 43733 DOMAINE ROMANIN POUILLY FUISSE VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $45.00 $34.00 60 years plus, them vines, so they deliver concentrated fruit on the one hand, while the other hand hangs out for their bus pass. Being PF this sees a good whack of older oak, which the fruit and nut slips inside more than comfortably. Powerful, intense yet elegant somehow.

Domaine Seguin-Manuel Seguin-Manuel is a very old estate, originally founded in 1824; in 2004 it was acquired by Thibaut Marion, a 42 year old born into wine and with experience including the family winery Chanson Père & Fils. The vineyards are managed organically, with no use of chemicals and quality in mind - small yields, strict pruning and green harvest. Initially located in Savigny-lès-Beaune, new plots have been added to the domaine in the villages of Beaune and Puligny-Montrachet since 2007 and more recently in Pommard and Meursault. More than 6 hectares of vineyard are now grown by the domaine. Our good friend Jean Chartron introduced me to Thibaut and I was incredibly impressed with the wines, the quality will only go from strength to strength and unusually for Burgundy, they represent excellent value. 43471 DOMAINE SEGUIN MANUEL BEAUNE CLOS DE MOUCHES 1ER CRU 2010 $139.00 $99.00 "The fruit for this was sourced off the upper parts of the Clos, facing east, the average vine age is 25 years old. Maturation was for 14 months in oak, 25% of which was new." - LW. 43473 DOMAINE SEGUIN MANUEL MERCUREY VIEILLES VIGNES 2010 $65.00 $49.00 Grown on clay and limestone, located in Côte Chalonnaise in the south of the Côte d Or, this wine has a lovely soft texture and a supple finish. Domaine Séguinot-Bordet The Séguinot family s roots in Maligny, the front door to Chablis, can be traced as far back as 1590 when they began to write their history. Resting on the sloping right bank of the Serein River, 16 hectares lie on a perfect south/south-east exposition. The Kimmerridgian, 80 million years old, made of white clay and fossilised oysters, gives the wines their specificity. This maritime origin gives the wines a specific iodine character, genuine and inimitable typicity. Managed today by Jean-Francois Bordet, who is taking the property to new heights. The Séguinot Bordet Chablis is now one of our top selling Chardonnay through Glengarry with the new stocks of 2012 just landed. 40479 SEGUINOT BORDET CHABLIS GRAND CRU VAUDESIR 2009 $106.00 $46.99 Stephen Tanzer, 91/100: "Bright medium yellow. Aromas of orange, ginger, flowers and porcini. Dense and tactile, with strong, fresh acidity giving cut to the pineapple and honey flavors. Finishes taut, juicy and long, with excellent clarity." 40475 SEGUINOT BORDET CHABLIS PREMIER CRU FOURCHAUME 2011 $53.00 $39.00 Jancis Robinson, 17/20: Really distinctive liquorice and fennel note here. Shows the idiosyncratic side of Chablis premier cru. Versatile, interesting flavours. - RH 40478 SEGUINOT BORDET CHABLIS PREMIER CRU VAILLONS 2011 $51.00 $39.00 Stephen Tanzer, 91/100: "Pale, bright yellow. Honeysuckle and jasmine on the nose, along with pumpkin and squash notes that reminded me of sake. Sweet, fruity and nicely concentrated, with a lovely stony undercurrent."

Domaine Tortochot Domaine Tortochot is a lovely property in Gevrey and was rejuvenated by Chantal Tortochot who took over the estate from her father in the late 90 s. The family have been in Gevrey for many generations, but it was not until Chantal took over that the wines really showed their potential. Chantal is a very skilled winemaker who produces wines that beautifully represent the terroir, whilst being accessible and fruit driven. Her wines are impressive and the quality just gets better and better each vintage. Definitely a producer to start following. We are lucky enough to have allocations of the jewels in their range - Lavaux St-Jacques, Champeaux and Chambertin itself. 42414 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT CHARMES CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2010 $199.00 $145.00 "From a.57ha parcel in Charmes, 10 barrels produced. This is delicious, even at this early stage. Elegant fruit framed in just the right amount of wood, with great richness." - LW 42402 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT GEVERY 1ER CRU LAVAUX ST JACQUES 2009 $99.00 $74.99 This was bottled in March 2011, Chantal has 0.61ha in this 1er Cru. The palate is rich, savoury and very textured. Unlike what the nose suggested you d find on the palate, it was approachable with lovely roundness. There's 50% new oak in this wine. It will require some time in the cellar Chantal suggests 10 years at least. 42412 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT GEVERY 1ER CRU LAVAUX ST JACQUES 2010 $99.00 $74.99 "From a 0.61 ha plot, 8 barrels produced. Very fine, elegant with lovely sweet fruit, it has a rich structure with very elegant tannins." - LW 42409 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT GEVREY 1ER CRU LES CHAMPEAUX 2009 $99.00 $74.99 Chantal has slightly more land in this 1er cru 0.822ha. This is very approachable, the nose was forward and fragrant, on the palate it is quite luscious and round. Like many of the wines from the 2009 vintage, this is very approachable now. As with all of Chantal's 1er Cru, there's 50% new oak. 42413 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT GEVREY 1ER CRU LES CHAMPEAUX 2010 $99.00 $74.99 "From a.81 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines. This trades elegance for complexity as there is fine depth to the red and dark berry fruit suffused nose that also displays hints of stone, earth, and game." - LW 42401 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT GEVREY CHAMPERRIER 2009 $89.00 $69.99 The vineyard is 50 years old, the nose has creamy notes, the palate is classic Grevry, it s chewy and savoury, the palate is fine, elegant, but not luscious. Finishing with a great savoury finish and impressive length. 42410 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT GEVREY CHAMPERRIER 2010 $89.00 $69.00 "Tortochot's parcel of old vines in Champerrier is their oldest in all of Gevrey. The vines were planted by Félix Tortochot in 1920. They produce a wine with marvelous density and texture." - LW 42400 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT GEVREY LES JEUNES ROIS 2009 $59.00 $39.00 Another of the three village expressions of Gevrey-Chambertin that Chantal makes, the vineyard is 0.53 ha and the location is similar to the Champerrier. The resulting wine is very different, it has all the power of Champerrier, but is more fleshy and rich. It s a wonderfully aromatic wine. 42408 DOMAINE TORTOCHOT GEVREY LES JEUNES ROIS 2010 $59.00 $39.00 "Chantal makes three different village Gevrey, all from different parts of the village and with different vine age. We import two of the Village Gevrey, the youngest (this one) and oldest vine age. From a.54 ha parcel, on the lower slopes of Côte St. Jacques and Brochon, this is a aromatic fleshy Gevrey with splendid aromatics that has great ageing potential." - LW

Georges Duboeuf The undisputed King of Beaujolais is Georges Duboeuf, who started by roaming the region in his VW back in the sixties, making wine wherever he stopped, and whose company now produces upwards of 3 million cases a year, making him one of France's largest and bestknown wine merchants. An innovator in the way Beaujolais was made, he also took the concept of Beaujolais Nouveau to new heights. It is now one of the wine world's most famous events and accounts for 1/5th of his annual production (approximately 4 million bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau alone). It centres around the concept of being the first wine of the vintage, with much fanfare made of the wine's release on the third Thursday in November. 43910 DUBOEUF CLOS DU MOULIN A VENT 2005 $69.00 $43.99 Nothing to do with Kidman & Co. moulin a vent means 'windmill'. From one of the Beaujolais 'cru' vineyards so the fruit is more concentrated than a 'villages' wine.

Château Laboure-Roi The House of Laboure-Roi dates back to 1832, when it was founded in the town of Nuits- Saint-Georges, by Monsieur Laboure and Monsieur Roi. The Burgundy negociant firm of Laboure-Roi, today owned by brothers Armand, Louis and Philippe Cottin, is involved not only in selling wines, but first and foremost, aging them. With the expert advice of their five oenologists, they select the grapes or wines, conduct the vinification process and then age the wines in barrels, tanks or bottles. 42239 LABOURE-ROI CHARMES CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2004 $202.00 $105.00 Moreno cherries, cinnamon, truffle, licorice. It is well structured with elegant fruit, excellent balance and good persistence. 42227 LABOURE-ROI LE MONTRACHET GRAND CRU 2001 $634.00 $325.00 42228 LABOURE-ROI MERSAULT CLOS DE LA BARONNE 2000 $88.00 $52.00 42234 LABOURE-ROI POMMARD 2000 $64.00 $38.00 Almost a Volnay-like elegance on the nose, tho' the structure is 100% Pommard. Red and black fruits haunt the perfumed nose; the flavours are intense and earthy: elegance wins out over robustness.

Maison Roche de Bellene In 2008, after the departure from SAS Nicolas Potel company, Nicolas Potel launches his new negociant business called "Maison Roche de Bellene". The philosophy is the same as Nicolas used to in Nuits-Saint-Georges: we have been keeping the same source of wines and the same relationship with growers that Nicolas have been working with the last 15 years. One extremely important difference from the past is the we are now only focusing on offering the finest wines, in limited cuvees in order to achieve our goal: being the only "Haute Couture" negociant in Burgundy. 40881 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE AUX EXHANGES CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2009 $135.00 $75.99 40852 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2006 $95.00 $51.99 40869 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE CHARMES CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2007 $245.00 $132.99 Robert Parker, 88/100: "Flavors of cherry jam along with slightly funky gaminess; considerable overt new woodiness; and rather rough tannins render the personality of the Bellene 2007 Charmes-Chambertin familiar for someone who has been through the corresponding 2008 grand cru line-up. Despite its breadth and sweetness, it evinces a slightly drying note in the finish that might reflect a bit of brett over and beyond of the wine's prominent tannins. I don't wish to downplay this wine's admirable sense of ripe fruit, but I wonder about its future and would prefer to sin on the side of drinking it over the next several years." 40870 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE CHARMES CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2008 $245.00 $132.99 Robert Parker, 91/100: "Good bright ruby-red. Black fruits and licorice on the nose. Rich, generous and deep, with lovely energy and underlying minerality enlivening the black cherry and spice flavors. A very broad, sweet Charmes that finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and excellent lift." 40872 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET VIEILLES 2008 $91.00 $49.99 40871 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE CLOS DE VOUGEOT GRAND CRU 2008 $272.00 $147.99 Robert Parker, 92/100: "Nicolas Potel s Clos-de-Vougeot has a very vibrant, lifted, almost sorbet-like nose with raspberry, strawberry and dark cherries soaring from the glass with an uninhibited zestiness. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, superb vigour with candied cherry and strawberry fruit, very lithe and for want of a better word: joyful." 40863 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE GEVREY CHAMBERTIN 1ER CRU 2008 $142.00 $77.99 Wine Spectator, 89/100: "Black cherry, blackberry and mineral flavors highlight this firm red. There's a crisp edge, as opposed to the juicy quality of the best '08 reds. Tight finish." 40882 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE GEVREY CHAMBERTIN CHAMPEAUX 2009 $135.00 $75.99 Tanzer: 89-91 Deep medium red. Strongly smoky-oaky aromas of red raspberry, crushed stone and minerals. Large-scaled, rich and very ripe but a bit youthfully disjointed today; plenty of material here but this big boy will need time in bottle to harmonize. Finishes quite long, with strong coffee and caramel oak notes. 40857 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE GEVREY CHAMBERTIN VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $84.00 $45.99 Wine Spectator, 88/100: "Dark flavors of black cherry and black currant mark this Gevrey. There's a hint of vanilla and other spices as this glides to a long finish. Turns crisp at the end." 40858 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE GRANDS EPENOTS POMMARD 1ER CRU 2006 $110.00 $59.99 Stephen Tanzer, 89-92/100: Deep red. Liqueur-like candied raspberry and stone on the perfumed nose, complicated by toast and smoke notes. Juicy, intense and sweet, with a sappy, candied quality carrying through the palate. But there are also lovely saline soil tones here. Very chewy, vibrant wine with excellent length and showing superbly today. 40862 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE GRANDS EPENOTS POMMARD 1ER CRU 2008 $110.00 $59.99 Stephen Parker, 89-92/100: "Good full, deep red. Currant, cherry, flowers, brown spices and a hint of leather on the slightly liqueur-like nose, joined by licorice and mineral nuances in the mouth. A serious Pommard but not a tough style. Finishes with lovely lift and length." 40868 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE LATRICIERES CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2007 $245.00 $132.99 40861 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE PEZEROLLES POMMARD 1ER CRU 2007 $100.00 $53.99 Burghound, 88-91/100: "An extremely deft application of wood as it's almost invisible allows the beautifully elegant mineral-infused red berry fruit aromas to have center stage while the intensely stony and pure medium weight plus flavors display driving energy before finishing in a linear, youthfully austere and sappy finish where the impact of the stems is also evident. Even though the tannins are quite fine, patience will be required."

40880 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE POMMARD 1ER CRU GRANDS EPENOTS 2009 $99.00 $61.99 Burghound: A heavily reduced nose fades into vibrant, detailed and precise flavors that possess a distinctly odd character that I could not place. While this may be fine by the time it's bottled, I choose not to guess. 40853 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE POMMARD LES VIGNOTS 2007 $89.00 $47.99 Very popular since the XIX century, Pommard has a rich history. It offers a deep red ruby color and a robe with purple lights."this is the fight between day and night" (Victor Hugo). Blueberry, blackcurrant and prune aromas are the most common. With maturity you will discover some leather, chocolate and spices as well. This is a wine which matures well with age. Enjoy this wine with strong meats such as Beef, buffalo, lamb, pheasants. Will accompany cheeses with some strong characters such as Epoisses, Comté, Reblochon 40854 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE POMMARD LES VIGNOTS 2008 $89.00 $47.99 Very popular since the XIX century, Pommard has a rich history. Jancis Robinson 16.5 40859 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE VOLNAY 1ER CRU SANTENOTS 2006 $93.00 $50.99 Burghound, 88-91/100: "A slightly riper nose with darker and spicier fruit introduces beautifully textured and admirably precise flavors that display more minerality than usual, indeed this is exceptionally mineral-driven and wrapped in a persistent, mildly strict and austere finish though I suspect this will round out with a few years in bottle." 40865 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU LES PETITS 2008 $169.00 $91.99 Wine Spectator, 90/100: "A dense and tightly wound style, with cherry, cranberry and rose flavors reined in by the racy structure. Shows purity and elegance, with detail on the long finish. Not imported into the U.S. Best from 2014 through 2025." 40867 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU 2008 $214.00 $115.99 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: "High-pitched aromas of licorice pastille, mint and pepper. Dry and uncompromising, with dominant flavors of licorice and minerals. Slightly high-toned but not at all a sweet style. Broad on the back end, with a firm tannic spine." 40866 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU SUCHOTS 2008 $187.00 $101.99 Wine Spectator, 90/100: "Ripe and rich, with a beam of cherry coursing through the dense texture. Firms up on the back end, but this is balanced overall. Cherry and spice notes linger on the finish. Not imported into the U.S. Best from 2013 through 2022." 40856 MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE VOSNE ROMANEE VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $95.00 $51.99 Wine Spectator, 90/100: "Pure, taut and linear, this red shows wild berry, spice and floral notes that are like a steel coil waiting to be sprung. Supple and vibrant, with a firm base of tannins. Not imported into the U.S. Best from 2013 through 2020."

Nicolas Potel Nicolas Potel, whose credentials are as impeccable as his wines, is one of the leading lights of a new breed of Burgundian super negociants who have modernised the business of sourcing wine from the best growers in highly-rated estates. In doing so, Burgundy's wines have been propelled right back up to the top. He very keen on biodynamics, and of the growers he works with many work organically and he says, 'I prefer more sensitive winemaking than a work made by analysis of results'. Nicolas Potel is on a roll and recieving much praise for his efforts in turning out great wines across the price spectrum, which in Burgundy can be enormous. 43384 NICOLAS POTEL ALOXE CORTON LES VALOZIERES 2007 $102.00 $51.00 Burghound, 87/100: "An earthy, somber and serious nose offers up strong floral aromas that also mix cherry and red current before sliding into rustic, serious and nicely voluminous medium plus weight flavors that are not particularly elegant but come across as very Aloxe in character, all wrapped in a mildly rustic but persistent finish." 42462 NICOLAS POTEL ALOXE CORTON LES VALOZIERES 2006 $105.00 $60.00 42254 NICOLAS POTEL BEAUNE 1ER LES PERRIERES 2008 $90.00 $48.99 42485 NICOLAS POTEL BEAUNE BLANC VIEILLE VIGNES 2006 $52.00 $28.99 Robert Parker, 88/100: "This smells of apricot, lemon, toasted hazelnut, and brown spices. Impressively rich and fat in the mouth, with citrus zest and smoky, toasty accents." 42276 NICOLAS POTEL BEAUNE BLANC VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $55.00 $29.99 42461 NICOLAS POTEL BEAUNE LES GREVES 1ER CRU 2006 $99.00 $56.99 Burghound, 89/100: "A moderately toasty nose of lower register dark berry and raspberry aromas that are very fresh and almost airy lead to textured and relatively fine flavours that possess good power on the supple, round and sweet finish. The tannins though are a bit rustic as they arrive with a real rush on the moderately long finish." 42424 NICOLAS POTEL BEAUNE LES GREVES 1ER CRU 2008 $88.00 $47.99 42430 NICOLAS POTEL BEAUNE ROUGE 2008 $49.00 $26.99 Robert Parker, 92/100: "A 2005 Beaune Teurons from Potel s own vines offers a beefy, faintly briny nose, with roasted beet and black cherry on the palate underlain by persistent meat broth, game, and salty, chalky minerality. Silky and refined in texture, this is one of those Pinots that takes you far away from mere fruits and berries, offering a fascinating, exceptionally long finish melding meat and mineral." 43405 NICOLAS POTEL BIENVENUE BATARD MONTRACHET 2007 $516.00 $243.50 42271 NICOLAS POTEL BONNES MARES 2004 $220.00 $140.99 Wine Spectator. 93/100: "Saturated deep red. Black raspberry, brown spices, menthol and minerals on the sappy nose. Impressively broad and sweet but not yet showing the complexity of some of Potel's other grand crus. Broad but quite firm-edged on the back, finishing with notes of mocha and brown spices." 42480 NICOLAS POTEL BONNES MARES 2006 $346.00 $196.99 Wine Spectator, 88/100: "Very fresh, with a smoky aroma, sporting plenty of oak. Black cherry and oak spice are the main flavours, with a chewy, licorice-tinged finish. A bit tough in the end. Best from 2011 through 2022." 42499 NICOLAS POTEL BONNES MARES 2007 $487.00 $243.50 Burghound, 93/100: "As it almost always is chez Potel, here the nose is deeper and more serious with obvious earth and game notes that add depth to the red and dark berry fruit aromas that merge into delicious, round and distinctly masculine and powerful flavors that are punchy, long and while not rustic, certainly robust. Despite the muscled quality, this is not an especially big Bonnes Mares by the standards of this grand cru though it is certainly focused and intense." 42256 NICOLAS POTEL BONNES MARES 2008 $391.00 $212.99 An aromatic range combining scents of red fruits with a hint of undergrowth. Its opulent volume and powerful tannins make it especially suitable for a rich fare. 42483 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBERTIN 2006 $370.00 $210.99 42416 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBERTIN 2007 $487.00 $243.50 Burghound, 92/100: "A very fresh and high-toned nose of raspberry, cranberry and earth that can't begin to match the aromatic breadth of the Bèze leads to cool, reserved and tight middle weight flavors that do possess ample amounts of minerality on the balanced but oddly, seemingly somewhat simple finish compared to the very best in the range."

42482 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBERTIN CLOS DE BEZE 2006 $400.00 $227.99 Stephen Tanzer, 90/100: "Deep red-ruby. Fruit-dominated aromas of crushed raspberry and strawberry. Pure considering the extensive hail damage here (Potel says 40% of the berries were eliminated) but in a very tight style, with a distinctly cool, peppery quality apparent." 42263 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2008 $492.00 $267.99 42250 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE 1ER CRU LES AMOUREUSES 2007 $340.00 $173.99 Jancis Robinson, 17.5/20: Sweet red cough-linctus on the nose thanks to a slight cedary medicinal note. Bright and spicy and jumping with life once it goes into your mouth. Lively and long though quite oaky at the end. Tannins are just right. - JH 42420 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE 1ER CRU LES NOIROTS 2008 $128.00 $69.99 Made in honour of Nic s pops, and in a style that the veteran would have no doubt approved of. Concentrated, elegant Pinot, this shows beautiful depth and length, with the 40-plus-year-old vines also contributing concentration and an intensity of cherry/dark fruit flavours. Precise and focused, it offers up plenty of primary fruits touched with scintillating spice, followed by a second layer of truffle and earthy notes all in a seamless, sensuous whole. An exciting, stylish and very interesting wine. 43396 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE LES FUEES 1ER CRU 2007 $159.00 $79.50 43392 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE LES GROSEILLES 1ER CRU 2007 $159.00 $79.50 43395 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 1ER CRU LES 2007 $159.00 $79.50 Of the 22 Premiers Crus, Les Charmes is probably the most famous. 9.53-hectare, the vineyard lies midslope at approximately 260 meters of elevation. The vineyard name derives, alas, not from the seductive allure of its wine but from the Latin-based word meaning field that also engendered the modern French champs ( field ). 42435 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY GRUENCHERS 2008 $144.00 $78.99 42267 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY LES CHARMES 2004 $105.00 $67.99 42471 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY LES HAUTS DOIX 2006 $127.00 $72.99 Wine Spectator, 88/100: "The tannins are a bit aggressive, dominating the cherry note and silky texture. There's sweet fruit, so be patient, but better to enjoy on the early side. Best from 2009 through 2015." 43390 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY LES HAUTS DOIX 2007 $159.00 $79.50 Burghound, 91/100: "This too evidences a bit of wood that sits around the edges of the slightly riper and notably more elegant aromas that are seductively spiced while offering up notes of violets and rose petals as well as red and blue berries, forest floor and a trace of wet stone that are also reflected by the rich, round, generous and supple middle weight flavors that are delicious if not nearly as complex or persistent as those of the Amoureuses. A lovely if not brilliant effort that should age well over the medium term." 43389 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY VIEILLES VIGNES 2007 $116.00 $67.99 Gorgeous ruby. Strong reduction blocks the nose though the flavors are very rich, full and intense with a frank, complex and serious finish that displays moderate rusticity. 42434 NICOLAS POTEL CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $101.00 $54.99 42475 NICOLAS POTEL CHARMES CHAMBERTIN 2006 $223.00 $124.99 Stephen Tanzer, 91/100: "Deep red. Wild, complex nose melds raspberry, leather and game. Silky and round but with lively mineral pungency giving definition and grip to the flavours of raspberry and gibier. Finishes with substantial tannic power, a subtle saline character and superb length." 43402 NICOLAS POTEL CHASSAGNE 1ER CRU MORGEOT 2007 $176.00 $88.00 42243 NICOLAS POTEL CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET MORGEOT 2003 $108.00 $97.00 42432 NICOLAS POTEL CHOREY LES BEAUNE 2008 $47.00 $25.99 42476 NICOLAS POTEL CLOS DE LA ROCHE 2006 $223.00 $124.99 Robert Parker, 91/100: "The Potel 2006 Clos de la Roche offers a similarly gripping but more texturally refined and pure-fruited experience than the corresponding Clos St.-Denis. Smoked meat, dark berry concentrate, black tea, and roasted meats fill the mouth, leading to a lingering, saliva-inducing finish. In the final analysis, there is a trade off between the mystery of the Clos St.-Denis and the greater clarity and refinement here." 43400 NICOLAS POTEL CLOS DE VOUGEOT 2007 $280.00 $140.00 Burghound, 93/100: "A highly complex nose, indeed so much so that it possesses one of the most complex noses in the entire range with a pretty red berry, layered warm earth and perfumed spice notes that are interestingly contrasted against sauvage hints that can also be found on the compelling, powerful, full and beautifully intense broad-shouldered and tautly muscled flavors that culminate in a long, dense and youthfully austere finish." 42491 NICOLAS POTEL CLOS SAINT DENIS 2007 $280.00 $140.00 Burghound, 89/100: "Good medium red. Medicinal red cherry, mocha, menthol and smoky oak on the nose. Precise and pungent on the palate, offering a complex combination of red fruits, faded rose, minerals and smoky earth. A rather powerful wine whose tannins are firm but not hard." 42273 NICOLAS POTEL CORTON CHARLEMANE 2004 $179.00 $116.00 Jancis Robinson, 17/20: Low key, but quite a tingly nose. Medium to full weight. Dense. Pretty good, but not absolutely top drawer. 42463 NICOLAS POTEL COTES DE NUITS VILLAGES VIEILLES 2006 $57.00 $31.99 Wine Spectator, 87/100: "Shows purity, with defined flavors of cherry, strawberry and spice allied to a silky texture. This is bright, with a moderate finish. Drink now through 2013." 43385 NICOLAS POTEL COTES DE NUITS VILLAGES VIEILLES 2007 $69.00 $62.10 Burghound, 89/100: "This is very Nuits in character with an intensely sauvage nose of earthy and lightly spiced crushed dark berries that complement the rich, full and admirably fresh flavors underpinned by good energy on the delicious, serious and sappy finish that is firmly structured yet the supporting tannins are quite ripe. Lovely."

42479 NICOLAS POTEL ECHEZEAUX 2006 $233.00 $130.99 Wine Spectator, 91/100: "Pure, fresh cherry, blackberry and mineral aromas and flavours showcased on an elegant, rich frame. Forward in style, yet with the structure, class and length to develop over the medium term. Best from 2010 through 2024." 42441 NICOLAS POTEL ECHEZEAUX 2008 $268.00 $145.99 42251 NICOLAS POTEL ECHEZEAUX GRAND CRU 2003 $266.00 $174.99 Wine Spectator, 91/100: "This starts out easy, with an open texture as the backdrop for its black cherry and spice flavors, picking up more structure from midpalate through the finish. All the elements are there, with a spicy oak aftertaste." 42433 NICOLAS POTEL GEVREY 1ER LES CAZERIERS 2007 $121.00 $66.99 42472 NICOLAS POTEL GEVREY CHAMBERTIN 2006 $86.00 $48.99 There s a smashing recipe for Coq Au Vin that calls for two bottles of G-C to be poured over the poultries over the two days duration they spend atop the stove. A criminal waste or commitment to your cuisine? Ahh, but when it s done, it s almost like Gevrey soup Nic s pick is intensely flavoured, slightly musky with powerful licorice-touched flavours typical of the appellation. More forward and brassy than some; but there are still mysterious depths to be plumbed. 42437 NICOLAS POTEL GEVREY CHAMBERTIN 2008 $88.00 $47.99 42473 NICOLAS POTEL GEVREY CHAMBERTIN LAVAUT ST 2006 $141.00 $80.99 Burghound, 89/100: "An unusually pretty and expressive nose of airy red berry fruit nuanced by touches of earth, underbrush, stone and only a trace of the sauvage slides into rich, full and attractively intense flavors that culminate in a moderately firm and only slightly rustic finish." 43398 NICOLAS POTEL GEVREY LES CHAMPEAUX 1ER CRU 2007 $170.00 $85.00 Burghound, 91/100: "Here the nose is much more complex than the Cherbaudes and is more typical as well with its slightly riper red berry, earth and underbrush suffused nose that precedes equally cool, reserved and detailed medium-bodied flavors that carry a bit more size and weight on the energetic, minerally and linear finish that delivers solid if not truly sensational length." 42498 NICOLAS POTEL GRANDS ECHEZEAUX 2007 $487.00 $243.50 Stephen Tanzer, 92/100: "Good full red. Exotic aromas of redcurrant, white pepper and mocha. Lush, sappy red fruit flavors saturate the palate but will need time to show their inherent complexity. Not as seamless as the Bonnes-Mares, finishing with fairly serious, dusty tannins. This was destemmed but I never would have guessed it." 42474 NICOLAS POTEL LATRICIERES CHAMBERTIN 2006 $223.00 $124.99 Burghound, 93/100: "Fairly strong reduction renders the nose impossible to evaluate but the detailed and mineral-driven flavors are fresh, supple and intense with good size and weight yet this remains essentially a wine of finesse, all wrapped in a sweet, vibrant and driving finish. This is lovely though much more understated in basic character than the majority of these grands crus." 42495 NICOLAS POTEL LATRICIERES CHAMBERTIN 2007 $280.00 $140.00 Burghound, 93/100: "A cool and retiring nose of wood spice, ripe red berry fruit, limestone, dried flowers and an interesting hint of dried ginger root merges into concentrated and notably powerful flavors that offer up excellent intensity and more minerality on the dusty, understated and linear finish that is impressively persistent." 43383 NICOLAS POTEL LES GREVES 1ER CRU 2007 $120.00 $60.00 43374 NICOLAS POTEL LES VERGELESSES SAVIGNY LES 2007 $90.00 $45.00 Burghound, 86/100: "A more elegant and refined nose features red berry fruit, leather and iron-infused earth notes that introduce nicely rich and lightly mineral inflected flavors that are dusty but also mildly dry on the finish that causes the overall sense of balance to be on the awkward side at present." 43382 NICOLAS POTEL LES VIGNES FRANCHES MONOPOLE 2007 $120.00 $60.00 42493 NICOLAS POTEL MAZOYERES CHAMBERTIN 2007 $280.00 $140.00 42486 NICOLAS POTEL MEURSAULT BLANC VIEILLE VIGNES 2006 $88.00 $50.99 Robert Parker, 87/100: "The Potel 2006 Meursault Vieilles Vignes is even more marked by the barrel, although ripe orchard fruits, nut paste, and honey make for an undeniable sense of richness. The overall effect is rather opaque, with a concentrated, slightly warm finish dominated by smoke and spice, along with bitter notes of fruit pit and citrus zest." 42464 NICOLAS POTEL NUIT ST GEORGES AUX MURGERS 2006 $114.00 $65.99 Stephen Tanzer, 91/100: "Good medium red. Reduced but expressive aromas of strawberry and smoke. Sweet, creamy and exotic, but with ripe acids framing the strawberry, mineral and spice flavours. Finishes spicy, exotic and long." 43386 NICOLAS POTEL NUIT ST GEORGES AUX MURGERS 2007 $149.00 $74.50 Burghound, 91/100: "A touch of reduction is not enough to hide the relatively high-toned aromas of cherry, raspberry and earth nuances that are also captured by the unusually sophisticated, precise and intense middle weight flavors that are tautly muscled but not necessarily carrying the usual size and weight one typically associates with a classic Murgers yet the balance and length are lovely." 42465 NICOLAS POTEL NUITS ST GEORGES LES PRULIERS 2006 $114.00 $65.99 Stephen Tanzer, 90/100: "Good medium red. Musky, reduced aromas of red fruits, smoke and mint. At once creamy and round and quite dry considering its good ripeness." 43387 NICOLAS POTEL NUITS ST GEORGES LES PRULIERS 2007 $149.00 $74.50 Stephen Tanzer, 90/100: "Good medium red. Subdued aromas of redcurrant, tobacco and smoky oak; lower-pitched than the Chaignots. Sweet and supple but with the oak component currently dulling the fruit a bit and drying the finish. No shortage of length though."

42460 NICOLAS POTEL POMMARD LES PEZEROLLES 1ER CRU 2006 $123.00 $70.99 Burghound, 90/100: "A pungent nose of reduction and wood spice will require racking soon though the round, elegant and detailed medium weight plus flavors offer an attractive texture if not quite the same concentration on the firm and slightly woody finish that also is notably mineral-suffused." 43381 NICOLAS POTEL POMMARD LES PEZEROLLES 1ER CRU 2007 $149.00 $74.50 Burghound, 91/100: "An extremely deft application of wood as it's almost invisible allows the beautifully elegant mineral-infused red berry fruit aromas to have center stage while the intensely stony and pure medium weight plus flavors display driving energy before finishing in a linear, youthfully austere and sappy finish where the impact of the stems is also evident." 42429 NICOLAS POTEL POMMARD LES PEZEROLLES 1ER CRU 2008 $125.00 $67.99 42458 NICOLAS POTEL POMMARD LES VIGNOTS 2006 $80.00 $45.99 Wine Spectator, 88/100: "Nice depth and more dark fruit flavors of black cherry, blackberry and plum. It's rich and smooth, with adequate tannins and spine. Should come around soon." 43379 NICOLAS POTEL POMMARD LES VIGNOTS 2007 $101.00 $50.50 42459 NICOLAS POTEL POMMARD RUGIENS 1ER CRU 2006 $123.00 $70.99 Burghound, 91/100: "Somewhat surprisingly, this is actually more elegant than the Pézerolles in the mouth and the nose is also wonderfully refined with airy red berry fruit that is also trimmed in noticeable oak while the big-bodied flavors are clean, cool, intense and dusty on the mouth coating finish that also displays ample minerality. Lovely." 43380 NICOLAS POTEL POMMARD RUGIENS 1ER CRU 2007 $149.00 $74.50 42241 NICOLAS POTEL POMMARD VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $90.00 $48.99 42417 NICOLAS POTEL ROMANEE SAINT VIVANT 2007 $900.00 $450.00 Wine Spectator, 93/100: "This starts out on the earthy side, with floral, berry, spice and mineral aromas and flavors. Just a touch herbaceous, but complex and refined overall, with a firm spine that keeps it tense and long." 42423 NICOLAS POTEL SANTENAY 2008 $54.00 $29.99 42453 NICOLAS POTEL SANTENAY 1ER CRU CLOS ROUSSEAU 2006 $74.00 $42.99 Wine Spectator, 88/100: "This red offers sweet cherry, berry and spice notes and a juicy mid-palate impression. The tannins are firm, but they just need time to meld with the fruit. Best from 2010 through 2015." 43372 NICOLAS POTEL SANTENAY LES GRAVIERES 2007 $90.00 $45.00 A nose of red cherries and an evocative bouquet of rose-petals This wine has a fresh attack with a lot of fruit, black berries and a hint of liquorice. 42419 NICOLAS POTEL SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE BLANC 2007 $74.00 $37.00 Wine Spectator, 90/100: "Smoke and spice accent a core of lemon, flint and apple flavors. Though rich, this smolders under the surface with latent energy. There's fine balance and length." 42449 NICOLAS POTEL SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE VIEILLE VIGNES 2006 $60.00 $33.99 Burghound, 88/100: "This is a picture perfect Savigny nose as the pungent iron-infused earth infuses the wines from start to finish as the very fresh and densely fruited nose is in keeping with the vibrant and punchy flavors that finish with a bit of an edge that may or may not round off. It's a reasonable assumption that it will however as the underlying material appears quite ripe." 43373 NICOLAS POTEL SAVIGNY LES BEAUNE VIEILLES VIGNES 2007 $72.00 $36.00 Chalky, stony notes enhance a sense of austerity in the finish, but this is impressive for its sheer grip, and the stream of fresh fruit remains pure. 42242 NICOLAS POTEL SAVIGNY LES VERGELESSES 1ER CRU 2008 $67.00 $36.99 Great Graves wine, this with its mineral, slightly herbaceous nose. Dank as a cellar with wet stone and subtle fruit on the palate it has the mineral richness you'd expect and will love, babies. 42457 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY 1ER CRU CLOS DE CHENE 2006 $119.00 $67.99 Robert Parker, 90/100: "A prickly sense of ginger and Szechuan pepper accents the concentration of tart black fruits, with smoky black tea, peat, and chalk notes as well as a saline beef bouillon undertone adding depth and intrigue. This displays cut and grip, and while it is certainly more formidable than winsome." 43376 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY 1ER CRU CLOS DE CHENE 2007 $145.00 $72.50 Burghound, 89-92/100: "An overtly spicy nose features notes of cinnamon, clove and anise that add interest to the discreetly earthy red berries, currants and plum notes that continue onto the rich, fresh, textured and relatively powerful flavors that are serious yet perfectly balanced and impressively persistent. This is a big Volnay but retains a sense of elegance and overall refinement." 42255 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY 1ER CRU LES BROUILLARDS 2008 $86.00 $46.99 42455 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY 1ER CRU LES SANTENOTS 2006 $111.00 $63.99 Stephen Tanzer, 91/100: "A slightly riper nose with darker and spicier fruit introduces beautifully textured and admirably precise flavours that display more minerality than usual, indeed this is exceptionally mineral-driven and wrapped in a persistent, mildly strict and austere finish though I suspect this will round out with a few years in bottle." 43377 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY 1ER CRU LES SANTENOTS 2007 $145.00 $72.50 Burghound, 92/100: "A fine Santenots is a thing of beauty as this example sports a simply gorgeous nose that is complex, ripe, elegant and utterly classy with its blue fruit and violet suffused nose that complements perfectly the impressively rich, textured and seductive medium plus weight flavors that possess perhaps the best dry extract levels to this point that render the otherwise firm tannins almost invisible at this early juncture, all wrapped in a tangy, long and sophisticated finish. Lovely stuff and well worth a look."

42456 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY CRU CHAMPANS 2006 $119.00 $67.99 Stephen Tanzer, 88/100: "Deep ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of strawberry and raspberry. Sweet and superripe, with a distinctly liqueur-like exotic aspect co-existing uneasily with strong acidity. This was just racked, which may explain its disjointed character. Plenty of flavor and acidity here." 43378 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY CRU CHAMPANS 2007 $145.00 $72.50 Burghound, 92/100: "This too is aromatically brilliant with a slightly riper and more complex cool and exceptionally fresh crushed red berry nose nuanced by soil and mineral tones plus a touch of underbrush that is picked up by the quite firmly structured medium plus weight flavors where the ripe tannins are solid but aggressive on the long finish." 42454 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY VIEILLES VIGNES 2006 $74.00 $42.99 Wine Spectator, 88/100: "There's nice depth and texture to this red, along with cherry, earth and mineral flavors. The structure is firm, and this is almost chewy. Nice length. Best from 2010 through 2017." 43375 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY VIEILLES VIGNES 2007 $90.00 $45.00 Burghound, 88/100: "Potel also noted that there was a high percentage of 1er in this blend. A subtle hint of wood spice frames relatively elegant red pinot fruit that is both airy and cool before dissolving into textured, dusty and long if not especially complex middle weight flavors. The presence of the 1ers reveals itself more in the context of a certain refinement in the tannins rather than in the depth of the finish." 42244 NICOLAS POTEL VOLNAY VIEILLES VIGNES 2008 $76.00 $41.99 Robert Parker, 87-88+/100: "Tart sour cherry blond tobacco and a saliva-inducing, saline savor are features of Maison Potel s 2008 Volnay Vieilles Vignes, which typifies the penetrating brightness and vivacity of its vintage, helped however when I tasted it a bit too much by residual CO2 that needed to be shaken-off and which no doubt contributed its lasting bit of carbonic acid. This will be well worth revisiting and likely merit at least 6-8 years of employment." 42467 NICOLAS POTEL VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU LES 2006 $141.00 $80.99 43388 NICOLAS POTEL VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU LES 2007 $170.00 $85.00 42240 NICOLAS POTEL VOSNE ROMANEE 1ER CRU PETIT MONTS 2007 $170.00 $85.00 Young Nick is the bright young star of Burgundy negociants and this is his wine. The 70 year old vines give this an immense density while Potel's skill ensures class and character. 42269 NICOLAS POTEL VOSNE ROMANEE VIEILLES VIGNES 2004 $71.00 $45.99 Wine Spectator, 87/100: "A beam of cherry counters the meaty flavor and texture in this medium-bodied red, with firm but fine-grained tannins and a balanced finish."

Domaine Vincent Girardin Vincent Girardin was born in Santenay, in the Côte de Beaune and is part of a winemaking family whose origins date to the 17th century (11th generation). Now in his forties, Vincent began in 1982 with only 2 hectares of vines. When his father retired, Vincent took over several additional hectares to which he could devote himself. Vincent s wife Veronique has worked alongside him at the Domaine since 1994. As of today, the Domaine represents 20 hectares which is comprised of 42 parcels from 8 villages in the Côte de Beaune. The white wines find their essence in their finesse, an extreme aromatic purity, at a focal point between acidity and richness. 40494 VINCENT GIRARDIN BATARD MONTRACHET GRAND CRU 2008 $464.00 $348.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93/100: "Pale yellow. Lemon drop and acacia flower on the attractive nose. Dense, sweet and rich but with nicely integrated acidity giving it a harmonious character. Sappy, serious, tactile wine with some new oak yet to be integrated. The chewy, long finish also suggests that patience will be rewarded." 40426 VINCENT GIRARDIN BATARD MONTRACHET GRAND CRU 2009 $459.00 $356.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92-94/100: Hazy pale yellow. Musky white peach and citrus peel dominate the nose. Rich, dense and packed with fruit; fat and tactile but not overly sweet. With its subtle notes of flowers and minerals, this grand cru shows more inner-mouth energy than the Bienvenue. Finishes broad, smooth and long, with lovely sweetness of fruit. 40481 VINCENT GIRARDIN CHAMBERTIN CLOS DE BEZE 2006 $368.00 $276.00 Stephen Tanzer, 90/100: "Good deep red. Closed nose hints at black cherry and menthol. Quite tight in the mouth and not giving up much today, hinting at sappy dark cherry. Best today on the chewy, expanding finish, which offers sappy black cherry and mineral notes and lovely late perfume. This youthfully clenched wine is less complex than the Charmes, and less ripe than the Chambertin, but its broad tannins avoid coming off as hard." 40434 VINCENT GIRARDIN CHAMBERTIN CLOS DE BEZE 2009 $469.00 $364.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92-95/100: Ruby-red. Lively aromas of blackberry, licorice and violet. Then dense and seamless but youthfully imploded, with classy, sharply delineated flavors similar to the aromas. On first sniff and taste this appears to lack the complex soil tones of the cru, but the very long, perfumed, firmly tannic, slowly building finish exudes a crushed rock character with significant aeration. Distinctly juicy, cool and backward in the context of the vintage, but then this is Chambertin. 40433 VINCENT GIRARDIN CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2009 $459.00 $356.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93/100: Dark red. Complex aromas of dark cherry, wildflowers, crushed stone, chocolate and mocha. Silky-sweet, dense and seamless, conveying outstanding energy as well as an essentially gentle personality. Chewy, savory, minerally wine with impressive saline persistence. There's much more complexity to come. 40498 VINCENT GIRARDIN CHARMES CHAMBERTIN 2009 $215.00 $167.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92/100: Medium red. Floral, perfumed nose offers blackberry, cocoa powder, violet, licorice, bitter chocolate and a hint of meat. Not especially fleshy but displays lovely inner-mouth perfume and a captivating sugar/acid balance. This very young and pure wine will depend more on its acidity than on its tannins for structure. Leaves the palate vibrating. 40484 VINCENT GIRARDIN CHASSAGNE MONTRECHET LE 2010 $129.00 $100.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93/100: "Bright straw-yellow. Lemon, coconut and vanilla on the slightly exotic nose. Fat, rich and pliant on the front half, mouth-filling without coming across as heavy. Then ripe but a bit youthfully aggressive on the back, with strong lemony fruit carrying through to a long, bracing finish. This energetic wine is very young." 40427 VINCENT GIRARDIN CHEVALIER MONTRACHET BLANC 2009 $599.00 $465.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92-95/100: Hazy pale yellow. Ineffable high-pitched aromas of lemon, lime, lavender, licorice, fresh herbs and crushed stone. Densely packed and minerally, with juicy ripe acidity and captivating floral lift leavening the wine's surprising sweetness. Wonderfully creamy and pliant in texture: this will give pleasure fairly early. Best today on the sappy, echoing, very long finish. Girardin's top 2009s boast terrific chewy depth and soil character: it's hard to find chardonnay like these anywhere but on the Cote de Beaune. 40430 VINCENT GIRARDIN CLOS DE VOUGEOT 2009 $240.00 $186.00 Stephen Tanzer, 93/100: "Good medium-deep red. Austere but pure nose offers currant, herbs and graphite. Lovely fine-grained fruit is quite youthful but already suave, with black cherry and licorice flavors displaying impressive chewy intensity. Finishes long and subtle, with very well-integrated tannins. No sign of hydric stress here, noted enologist Eric Germain, who told me he prefers the Cote de Nuits to the Cote de Beaune in 2009.

40457 VINCENT GIRARDIN CORTON CHARLEMAGNE BLANC 2010 $169.00 $131.00 Burghound, 93-95/100: "This is unusually expressive for a young Corton-Charlemagne with its green fruit, apple, wet stone and white floral aromas. There is excellent power and concentration to the rich, vibrant and strongly mineral-inflected large-scaled flavours that possess a seductively textured mid-palate before terminating in a bone dry, balanced and explosive finish. Terrific." 40425 VINCENT GIRARDIN CORTON CHARLEMAGNE QUINTESSENCE 2010 $269.00 $209.00 Stephen Tanzer: Bright, pale yellow. Reticent but very pure aromas of yellow peach, hazelnut and vanillin oak; comes across as riper than the utterly primary basic Corton-Charlemagne. Sweet and fine-grained, with a distinctly silky texture to the yellow fruit flavours. I find this less limey and minerally than the basic bottling, without quite that wine s tension. In fact, the finish shows a slightly exotic apricot quality and a bit of youthful warmth. 92/100. 40497 VINCENT GIRARDIN CORTON ROUGE BRESSANDES 2009 $99.00 $77.00 Stephen Tanzer, 91-94/100: Bright red-ruby. Black fruits, licorice and violet on the vibrant nose. Dense, juicy and fine-grained, with sweet dark fruit and licorice flavors complicated by savory, smoky nuances. Finishes with substantial but very fine tannins and excellent subtle persistence. Deceptively easygoing in the style of the vintage, but this will reward patience. 40499 VINCENT GIRARDIN CORTON ROUGE RENARDES 2009 $99.00 $77.00 Stephen Tanzer, 90/100: Palish red. Rather hermetic nose hints at redcurrant, cherry, menthol and mint. A dense, saline midweight, but in a shell today, showing some redcurrant fruit and good concentration but limited nuance. Finishes with dusty tannins and good length. Perhaps I caught this in an awkward stage. 40495 VINCENT GIRARDIN GEVREY CHAMBERTIN LES CAZETIERS 2009 $125.00 $97.00 Stephen Tanzer, 89/100: Medium-deep red. Reticent nose hints at redcurrant, fresh herbs, leather, game and earth. Fresh but tight, with a chewy texture and firm acidity to the flavors of currant, menthol and fresh herbs. Leaner than the Cote de Beaune wines that preceded it in my tasting. Finishes firmly tannic and a bit youthfully dry." 40487 VINCENT GIRARDIN MEURSAULT 1ER CRU LES CHARMES 2010 $115.00 $90.00 40486 VINCENT GIRARDIN MEURSAULT LE LIMOZIN BLANC 2009 $73.00 $57.00 This is a great introduction to quality Meursault at a reasonable price. A village level wine from a single vineyard with an exceptional position. Rarely seen on vineyard maps, Le Limozin is situated alongside Charmes and directly underneath Genevriéres, two of the great 1er crus of Meursault. Classic styling, full and nutty with excellent acid structure, all from an excellent vintage most agree is at least on a par with 2005. Drink 2012-2016. 40451 VINCENT GIRARDIN MEURSAULT LE LIMOZIN BLANC 2010 $74.00 $58.00 Classic Meursault without the expected price tag, Engaging perfume of citrus fruit and blossom, lifted vibrant acidity gives the palate intensity and length. Whilst a village level wine, this is from a single vineyard that is situated alongside Charmes and underneath Genevieres. The 2009 version of this was exceptional, in comparison it is a little richer and fruit forward, the 2010 has a vibrancy and freshness. 40453 VINCENT GIRARDIN MEURSAULT LES PERRIERES 2010 $135.00 $105.00 Stephen Tanzer, 94/100: "Bright pale yellow. Exotic, slightly high-toned aromas of orange, hazelnut and spicy oak. Then much more soil-dominated on the palate, with savory, chewy flavours of liquid stone and salty minerality dominating the wine s underlying fruit. Tensile, tightly wound Perrieres, in need of I've to seven years of patience." 40489 VINCENT GIRARDIN POMMARD CRU LES GRANDS EPENOTS 2009 $99.00 $77.00 Stephen Tanzer, 90/100: Deep ruby-red. Very ripe but fresh aromas and flavors of black cherry, cassis, licorice and chocolate, with complicating notes of truffle and violet. Sweet and generous in the mouth, with a menthol hint to go with the dark fruits. Serious tannins give the wine solid backbone but are also a bit tough today. 40488 VINCENT GIRARDIN POMMARD LES NOIZONS 2009 $69.00 $54.00 Raymond Chan, 18.5/20: "Dark, deep, ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a full, solid nose with depth and intensity, showing dark berry fruits and earthy notes, with hints of meat and game, suggestions of brett? Full-bodied, rich and lush, this is solid in presentation, very Pommard and masculine, but with fleshiness." 40440 VINCENT GIRARDIN PULIGNY LES FOLATIERES 2009 $115.00 $90.00 Stephen Tanzer, 90-93/100: Hazy pale yellow. Enticing aromas of crystallized lemon peel, flowers and spices. Juicy, energetic and light on its feet, with a distinctly rocky character to its tangy citrus flavors. A classic hillside style of white Burgundy. 40454 VINCENT GIRARDIN PULIGNY LES FOLATIERES 2010 $149.00 $116.00 Stephen Tanzer, 94/100: "Pale-medium yellow. Reticent but pure aromas of peach, spices and minerals. Brisk and intense, with terric clarity and punch to the flavours of citrus peel, salty minerals and flowers. A noble expression of terroir, finishing tactile, saline, dry and very long, with terrifc floral lift and grip. This needs time in bottle to expand. Yet another outstanding Folatières bottling in vintage 2010." 40456 VINCENT GIRARDIN PULIGNY LES PUCELLES 2010 $169.00 $131.00 Burghound, 92-94/100: "The remarkably well-layered nose features aromas of honeysuckle, citrus and soft spice nuances and leads to rich, generous and relatively dense flavours that enjoy plenty of mid-palate dry extract that coats the palate on the attractively dry finish. The style of the 2010 vintage works well with a terroir like Pucelles which tends to be generous and opulent yet here there is good acidity that helps to delineate and focus the lingering backend. This is first-rate and should age well yet be approachable young." 40492 VINCENT GIRARDIN PULIGNY MONTRACHET LES COMBETTES 2009 $146.00 $114.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92/100: Pale green-yellow. Reticent but pure aromas of lime and spearmint. Then rich but juicy in the mouth, with pepper and spice notes conveying an impression of precision. Quite tightly wound; this struck me as more classically Puligny than the 2010 version. Finishes very long and dusty.

40455 VINCENT GIRARDIN PULIGNY MONTRACHET LES COMBETTES 2010 $159.00 $124.00 Burghound, 91-93/100: "Heavy sulfur dominates the nose at present though there is ample concentration and vivacity to the solidly powerful and subtly mineral-infected flavours that culminate in a long, sappy and delicious finish. There is the typical generosity, size and elegance of a classic Combettes allied with lovely detail if not the sheer depth of the amazing Folatières." 40480 VINCENT GIRARDIN SANTENAY VILLAGE TERRE ENFANCE 2008 $48.00 $36.00 From a maverick producer with eleven generations of winemaking in the family comes a Pinot from a commune so far south it has a Texan drawl, y all. Bunches of lively cranberry and cherry fruit to crunch through, a sexy swish of violets then dustings of redolent earth and chalky tannins, all the things that make up great Burgundy. A superb satiny texture, smooth and undulating, with real presence and character from a man who knows his art from his craft and practices both. 40483 VINCENT GIRARDIN SANTENEY 1ER CRU LE BEAUREGARD 2009 $61.00 $48.00 Raymond Chan, 16.5/20: Bright lemony-straw colour with pale green hues, this has a soft, full, warm and gentle nose of citrus and stonefruit aromas, up-front with balanced oak. On palate quite direct and somewhat uncomplicated with stonefruit flavours initially with sweetness, but tending to dryness and a little austerity, the acidity modest and falling away on the finish. Oaking is sensitive. One to drink over the next 2-3+ years. 40432 VINCENT GIRARDIN GRANDS ECHEZEAUX 2008 $469.00 $352.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92/100: Medium red. Candied raspberry, blueberry, flowers and spicy oak on the nose. Suave and silky but youthfully tight; in a drier style than Girardin's other grand crus but seamless, vibrant and perfumed. This really coats the mouth with flavor without leaving any impression of weight. Finishes with terrific cut and length, and lovely lingering perfume. 40431 VINCENT GIRARDIN GRANDS ECHEZEAUX 2009 $469.00 $364.00 Stephen Tanzer, 92-95/100: Good red-ruby. Captivating aromas of black raspberry, crushed rock and cocoa powder, lifted by a floral treble note. Utterly silky on entry, then velvety and suave in the middle, with perfectly integrated acidity. Refined, scented and very ripe, not to mention concentrated, with a lovely sugar/acid balance giving the wine noteworthy finesse. Finishes tactile, sappy and savory, with terrific chewy persistence.

William Fèvre Coming from a family that has been in the Chablis region for more than 250 years, William Fèvre's father was already a great wine-maker after World War II. His son William founded the Domaine de la Maladière and announced his first harvest in 1959. For many years, William Fèvre (who to this day enjoys a very good reputation as a defender of historically renowned terroirs), has worked each plot keenly and skilfully so as to make wine whose personality reflects the authenticity of the soils from which they spring. In 1998, the venerable Henriot family from Champagne succeeded him. To continue these focused efforts, the Domaine was taken up with the constant desire to make indisputably genuine and fine wines, and above all with bringing along a very personal expertise in Chardonnay. All the efforts have but one goal - to finely express the most subtle variations in the greatest Chablis crus. 43081 WILLIAM FEVRE CHABLIS COTE DE BOUGUEROTS 2007 $140.00 $102.00 Complex bouquest and dense, robust structure with pleasant roundness. 43080 WILLIAM FEVRE CHABLIS LES CLOS GRAND CRU 2007 $155.00 $114.00 Burghound, 94-97/100: The big, rich, powerful, detail and superbly focused flavors are supported by a very firm acid backbone that confers a bone dry quality to the finish that I could still taste hours later. In brief, at the moment this is more extract of Kimmeridgian stone than wine but it s breathtakingly good. This should positively be on your short list of 07s not to miss." 43083 WILLIAM FEVRE CHABLIS LES PREUSES GRAND CRU 2007 $140.00 $102.00 Burghound, 93-96/100: "This is every bit as elegant as the Valmur with nuanced, highly layered, discreet and very pure aromas of understated green fruit and almost pungenttidal pool aromas that are followed by rounded, focused and incredibly complexflavors displaying notes of warm stone and oyster shell. The texture and mouthfeel of this are positively seductive as the finish is a liaison of richnes and delicacy with that silky yet explosive finish that all the great examples of Preuses seem to possess. A wine of crystalline purity that is every bit asgood as the Valmur. Another don t miss Fèvre '07." 43092 WILLIAM FEVRE CHABLIS LES CLOS GRAND CRU 2008 $165.00 $124.00 Burghound, 96/100: "The elegance of the nose is simply stunning with a layered and perfumed aromatic profile trimmed in an almost invisible touch of oak that allows it to ooze Chablis character and in particular, a fine minerality that continues onto the impressively concentrated and palate staining flavors that possess striking precision on the explosively long and bone dry finish. This is a great Les Clos that will make old bones." 43095 WILLIAM FEVRE CHABLIS LES PREUSES GRAND CRU 2008 $144.00 $108.00 Burghound, 95/100: "This would be almost impossible to miss this wine's origins as the marine influence on the pungently mineral, airy and superbly elegant nose is extremely strong with Chablis character to burn. The seductive middle weight flavors brim with dry extract, which does a perfect job of buffering the structural elements on the mouth coating and sappy finish that seems to go on and on. This is very Preuses in its Zen-like sense of harmony and is clearly very classy juice" 43096 WILLIAM FEVRE CHABLIS VALMUR GRAND CRU 2008 $140.00 $104.00 The reflections are the classic light gold-green hues of a fine Chablis. The barest touch of oak highlights the green fruit, menthol, saline and iodine aromas that precede the extremely stony, concentrated and driving flavors that are also blessed with ample amounts of dry extract that provides a much needed balancing element to the ripe acid backbone on the chalky and sappy finish. When Valmur is really good, it rivals Les Clos for the best grand cru in Chablis and this 2008 is really good 95/100 Burghound 43094 WILLIAM FEVRE CHABLIS VAUDESIR 2008 $144.00 $108.00 Extremely discreet notes of wood set off the ripest nose among these grands crus in 2008 with wonderfully fresh orchard fruit and pure citrus aromas leading to impressively precise big-bodied and powerful flavors brimming with dry extract and more minerality than usual on the refined, intense and hugely long finish that is quite dry. A wine of class and grace but with no lack of muscle. 94/100 Burghound 43086 WILLIAM FEVRE CHABLIS VAULORENT 2008 $115.00 $80.00 Burghound, 94/100: This is one of those wines where you can sense the sheer depth of material simply based on the nose as the very dense citrusbased fruit displays additional hints of stone, tidal pool, algae, oyster shell and white flower aromas that give way to concentrated, serious and rich flavors that are actually quite fine before culminating in an explosively long and palate staining finish. A terrific wine that, like its stable mate, could easily pass for a grand cru. A knock-out. Outstanding" 43088 WILLIAM FEVRE FOURCHAUME 2008 $85.00 $64.00 Burghound, 91-93/100: This is almost as aromatically complex but the profile is completely different as here the nose runs away from the floral and more toward green fruit and minerality that is classic Chablis in character and this character is reflected by the rich and full-bodied flavors that are serious and seem to ooze minerality on the saline and wonderfully intense finish. Sweet Spot. Outstanding
