FINAL REPORT EXPOSHOP, GASTROPACK 2016 I. GENERAL INFORMATION On 31 st January 2016 the exhibition centre INCHEBA EXPO Bratislava closed its gates after four days long course of the most important trade fair events from the gastronomy area: the 23 rd international fair of gastronomy Danubius Gastro, the 16 th exhibition of equipment and technologies for shops Exposhop and the 15 th exhibition of packing materials and machines Gastropack. The Danubius Gastro fair is a decisive event in the area of gastronomy and hotels within the whole Slovakia and Central Europe. It traditionally offers an attractive show full of the biggest world suppliers to small and middle-sized companies. Due to its huge success during last years edition, the main partner of the Danubius Gastro fair was once again the very Kaufland Slovak Republic. Presenting itself at the fair as a company fully responsible towards its environment, Kaufland, in the spirit of its campaign For the Love of Slovakia (part of it being also a support of Slovak producers), is fully aware that love for Slovakia also means responsibility. As one of the key players within the Slovak retail it puts strong emphasis on environmental protection and responsible product choices. In its broad stand it also highlighted presentation of high quality food labelled with The Mark of Quality SK that is irreplaceable within its store chain. Amongst food, coffee and wine from the whole world has always been very strongly presented at the fair. The Coffee Town was a true novelty to the fair, hosting competitions of student and professional baristas from the whole Slovakia in Slovak Barista Cup Junior 2016 and Latte Art Show Incheba. During the fair visitors could learn how to properly prepare the coffee professionals giving valuable advice to everyone interested were always at hand. The very attractive fair was visited by 70 140 people in four days.
II. OPENING CEREMONY The Danubius Gastro fair was inaugurated by the Director General of the Section of Trade and Food Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Nouzovská together with the Chairman of the Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber Milan Semančík and the Chairman and CEO of Incheba, a.s. Alexander Rozin in the presence of mayors, members of diplomatic corpses, representatives of other professional associations and other guests. III. ACCOMPANYING PROGRAMME The accompanying events were dedicated both to professionals and wide public. Special attention was paid to its preparation, in cooperation with professional guarantors; which resulted in seminaries, competitions, presentation and sales shows. One of the most attractive accompanying events was surely the 17 th edition of the National Culinary and Confectionary Art Show Poetry in Gastronomy where many competing exhibits of hotels, restaurants, confectioneries and vocational schools from the whole Slovakia were presented. Widely represented cooks competed in prestigious competitions Danubius Gastro Cup. The jubilee tenth edition of the baking competition for The Best Bratislava Roll was accompanied by wonderful competitions such as For the Best Knitted Product, Pastry Art Classic Bakery, and Competition for the Best Innovative Product of 2016 The bartenders event in D1 hall the 2 nd edition of the competitions MASTER CUP 77 was especially popular.
The future cooks competed in the IV. METRO HoReCa pentathlon of junior competition of students of vocational schools and hotel academies in individual skills and team preparation of menu. Within the National Programme for Support of Agricultural Products and Foodstuff the Mark of Quality SK the prizes of THE MARK OF QUALITY SK were awarded during the fair. The best exhibits and novelties of the fair won the DANUBIUS GASTRO 2016 award. The chief advisor of the State Veterinary and Food Administration of SR and the chairman of the competition committee Ján Štulc handed the Danubius Gastro 2016 award to ten exhibits of the best quality. Another 12 products that met the strict competition criteria were awarded with diplomas right at the stands. IV. AWARDS The DANUBIUS GASTRO 2016 AWARD Exhibits were evaluated by expert commission consisting of experts from the area of gastronomy, food industry and shops under the leadership of Ján Šulc. The competition for the best exhibits of the international fairs Danubius Gastro, Exposhop, Gastropack in 2016 were joined by 59 exhibits. The DANUBIUS GASTRO 2016 award went to: Bakery Ing. V. PROMOTION The ITF Slovakiatour and Danubius Gastro fairs together with the accompanying exhibitions Hunting and Leisure, Wellness and Fitness, Exposhop and Gastropack got a lot of live feeds in Slovak televisions, radios, mainstream newspapers as well as in specialized, news and lifestyle web sites. TVs All relevant televisions had the event fully covered. TV Markíza broadcasted 3 live feeds from the fairs in the Teleráno show (right from the exhibitors stands) and a reportage in Televízne noviny o 17 (TV News at 5pm) and at 7pm. Slovenská televízia (Slovak National TV) talked about the fairs in Dámsky klub show (STV1), through live feed in Ranné správy o 8 (Morning News at 8am) (STV), reportage in Správy o 16 (News at 4pm), Správy z regiónov (Region News) (STV2) and Správy o 19 (News at 7pm) (STV1). The Joj TV showed the atmosphere of the fairs in Noviny o 17 (News at 5pm) and Noviny o 19 (News at 7pm). Many regional televisions also reported about the events through reportages. The invitation to fairs was also mediated via sponsorship in TV Markíza. Radios The fairs of travel and gastronomy resonated in the most popular radios. Fun Radio informed about the events in its regional news in morning broadcasts and through interview in the Day with Didiana. The Expres Radio highlighted the fairs in its daily broadcast. The events also resonated through broadcasting in the Vlna and Jemné melódie radios. Radio Regina broadcasted information about fairs in its news and Radio Slovensko mediated the atmosphere of both events via several journalistic coverages. The invitation to fairs was also mediated via commercials and sponsorship in Fun Radio and Radio Expres.
Print The events were given full coverage by the most popular mainstream daily papers. Plus 1 Deň brought in several reportages right from the premises of the events. Besides advertising, Nový Čas informed about the fair via PR feeds. Amongst the mainstream daily papers that covered the fairs via reportages were also Hospodárske noviny and Pravda. The daily paper Pravda also published invitations to the fairs. On-line Cooperation with the media house News&Media Holding resulted in many feeds. Banners of the fairs were placed in web site like dobrejedlo.sk, pluska.sk, zena.sk, wanda.sk, glanc.sk. Web sites pluska.sk, ibreak.sk, dobrejedlo.sk and emma.sk published reports about the fairs. Plenty of other webs also mediated the many interesting facts about the fairs: feminity.sk, topky.sk, dromedar.sk, 24hod.sk, dnes24.sk, teraz.sk, pravda.sk, pozri.sk, sme.sk and many other regional web sites and events calendars. Communication via Incheba.sk and fun page INCHEBA EXPO BRATISLAVA was a matter of course. Outdoor Billboards, bigboards, citylights, flags, banners and doublebigboards informed people about the fairs all over Slovakia. VI. MARKET POSITION The Danubius Gastro fair has confirmed its leading position in the area of gastronomy, hotels and food industry in Slovakia and is becoming one of the most decisive events in the Central Europe. VII. EVALUATION OF THE FAIR The fair received an extremely positive feedback from both exhibitors and visitors. We are pleased to note that with its size and especially with its quality the fair has reached the biggest level in its history. The Danubius Gastro together with the ITF Slovakiatour
fair and co-running exhibitions is the biggest and most attractive exhibition event in Slovakia. VIII. INFORMATION ABOUT NEXT EDITION Incheba Expo Bratislava is already looking forward to the next edition of the fair that will take place from 26 th to 29 th January 2017. We believe it to be even more interesting with a rich offer of diverse national and foreign exhibitors.
