RHaassembleur a beautiful meeting with champagne...
The men... Heirs to a long line of winemakers established in Chouilly, the three brothers Rémi, Olivier and Jérôme Legras all contribute to the management of the family winery created 20 years ago by their parents and elaborate meaningful champagnes. Although their paths are different, the passion for wine that has inspired them since their childhood has brought them together for the benefit of the vine and the wine. Today, Rémi Legras manages the company and the development of viticultural techniques, Olivier pays all his attention to the family vines and Jerome, the youngest, goes to meet champagne fans around the world. During the vinification, all three meet in the cellar to taste each pressing and perfect the assemblage of the next cuvées. Rémi, Jérôme Legras and Olivier met with the same passion... From this exceptional family osmosis great wines are born, wines that can be enjoyed in their youth for their fresh fruit character or after aging for their harmonious complexity. The strength of the Legras brothers lies in a common, uncompromising vision of the crafting of their wines. They try to achieve strong structure, amplitude, and aging potential. Three key words behind exclusive champagnes, far from established standards. the estate The Legras & Haas family owns 35 hectares of vineyards of which the vast majority is in Chouilly, a Grand Cru of the Côte des Blancs, planted exclusively with Chardonnay. In their pursuit of purity the Legras & Haas family has acquired vineyards in Vitry and in Les Riceys to improve their range. This diversity of terroirs and characters is the basis of the complex and delicate style of the house. It is of course due to the unique wild strawberry aromas of Pinot Noirs from Les Riceys (the largest wine-producing village of Champagne), that the House may offer to lovers of champagne rosé such delicate hints of fruit. To explore the infinite possiblities of the three champagne grape varieties, including chardonnay, pinot meunier, and pinot noir, the house of Legras & Haas has for several years maintained close relationships with winemakers from all over the region known for their high reputation and expertise. This extraordinary range of flavors, good craftsmanship and long acquired blending skills make the Champagne Legras & Haas wines genuine masterpieces.
InvitHaastion...to discover a remarkable terroir...
The village Chouilly, a charming village and classified Grand Cru terroir on the Côte des Blancs, was long in the shadow of Épernay, the capital of Champagne. However the village will reveal to anyone who takes the trouble to stop, treasures of hospitality, joie de vivre and an exceptional cultural heritage. Visit the Roman church of Saint-Martin, in which the statues from the 18th Century are carefully preserved. One of them is the statue of Saint Remi, who baptized Clovis. You can also take a walk in the Allees of the "Jardin Humide", a flower garden, near the bottom of the river "Les Tarnauds". You can then visit the "Jardin des Vignes" an open-air museum of vines. The inhabitants of the village live to the rhythm of champagne and devote themselfs to it with heart and soul. Nowadays, even if the grapes from Chouilly mostly contribute to the production of large and famous houses, the village has not lost its soul and passion for wine.
