EDIBLE CANDY JEWELLERY Have a go at making some candy jewellery. You could make a necklace or a bracelet or even a matching set! Have a think what sweets you could use. How about strawberry shoe laces for the bracelet and fruity polos for the beads? Use your imagination and get creative! DESIGN YOUR OWN JELLY BABY Did you know that there are 6 different Jelly Babies, each with their own name, colour, flavour and qualities? (See sheet at the back of this pack for descriptions.) Design your own Jelly Baby. What would it taste like?, what would its name be? what skills and talents would it have? DESIGN YOUR OWN MASCOT Bertie Bassett is the mascot of the brand Bassetts sweets. He is made from liquorice allsorts. Imagine you have just started your own sweet company. Have a go at making your own sweet mascot. You could use cocktail sticks and a selection of sweets to build it.

SWEET ART Have a go a making a small mosaic picture using only jelly beans (or similar). Tip: choose a simple design to make or use one of the templates at the back of this pack. Here are some examples of some pictures created only with jelly beans! HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR SWEETS? How many of the sweets can you identify correctly? Have a go and see how many you get right (quiz available at the back of this pack). A HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE We all love sweets but eating too many is bad for you and your teeth. Can you think of some healthy alternatives that you could have instead? Discuss in small groups and share your ideas with the rest of the unit. Maybe you could have a go at making your snack next week! SWEET MADNESS Try these games using sweets such as smarties or similar. Form a small group of around 6 people and sit in a circle. Using a straw, suck a sweet up against the straw and try and pass it on to the next person without dropping it. See if you can get right around the circle. Form a small group of around 6 people and sit in a circle. Put some sweets in a bowl in the middle of the group. Each person needs a straw and a cup. You also need one dice. Someone starts by rolling the dice. It keeps going round the circle until someone rolls a six. When they do, they have to try and get as many sweets into their cup using just the straw, by sucking the sweets. They keep doing this until another person rolls a six and starts sucking instead. The person with the most sweets at the end of the game is the winner.

COCONUT ICE SWEET TREATS Ingredients 50g sweetened condensed milk 250g icing sugar 200g dessicated coconut Food colouring (optional) Wooden spoon, mixing bowl and plate Small sweet cases Method 1. Mix together the coconut, condensed milk and icing sugar in a large bowl. It will get very stiff, but keep mixing until it is well combined. 2. At this stage you could add a small amount of food colouring to all or half of the mixture. 3. Sprinkle some icing sugar on a plate and begin to roll the mixture in to small balls. Place in the sweet cases, Ideally these should be left uncovered overnight to set. If you haven t eaten them all the next day, they can be stored in an airtight container.

PLAY THE CHOCOLATE GAME Items required Dice Tray, Bar of chocolate (in squares) Selection of items: Hat, scarf, gloves or similar, knife & fork How to play Un-wrap the chocolate bar and place it on a tray in the middle of the circle (no more than 6 people). Everyone takes it in turns to roll the dice. When someone gets a six they must put on all the items of clothing and then use the knife and fork to eat as much chocolate as they can (1 square at a time) beore the next person throws a six and takes over. DESIGN YOUR OWN CHOCOLATE BAR Cadbury s have employed you to design a new chocolate bar for them. In small groups you need to invent a chocolate bar, design a wrapper and create a TV advert to advertise your new product. What would your chocolate bar be called? What would it taste like and what ingredients would it have? Would it be aimed at young children, teenagers or adults? How much would it cost? Present your new product to the rest of the group! MAKE SOME GIANT SWEETS Giant Jelly Tots! (recipe at the back of this pack).
