GREAT GAME! Sandon 5-4 Brentwood County High School On Tuesday, 19 September the year 9 boys football team had their opening fixture. Following a very successful season last year where they only missed out on promotion by one point, they had something to prove. With a couple of new faces in the squad, and Mr Ashley adopting a new formation with players playing in slightly different positions to what they're used to, Sandon started really well. Each player dominated and Sandon were soon controlling the game with ease. It only took four minutes for Kai Webster to score and Sandon to take the lead following some fantastic passing moves. An own goal by the visiting team on 12 minutes and then Luke Reeve scoring half way through the first half made it 3-0. As Sandon pressed for a fourth goal, BCHS came back and scored two goals just before half time, their two strikers being too fast for our back four! The second half matched the first, with Alfie Hooper scoring after only two minutes. However, BCHS quickly replied with a goal a minute later. Luke Reeve scored his second of the game and Sandon looked comfortable. With five minutes to go BCHS scored again. With the score 5-4, Sandon defended well and deserved the 3 points. Well done to the whole team! Team: Will Boyden, Terry Catchpole, Tristan Koch (capt), Kyran Lally, Alex Porter, Ollie Hollingsworth, Will Broadrick, Alfie Hooper, Stephen Miller, Luke Reeve, Kai Webster, Isaac Hurrell, George Rogers, Teddy Taylor. Man of the Match: Luke Reeve Next Game: vs SJP Monday 25th Sept (away) Mr Ashley AUDITION WORKSHOP Friday, 22 September 2017 3-5 pm with Mrs Davis in A4 Come prepared to join in with acting scenes. All are expected to sing the first verse of Consider Yourself from Oliver. For more information on roles, see the Drama noticeboard.

https://www.time-to-change.org.uk/what-you-should-know/be-there-your-mate BOOKS AND EQUIPMENT FOR SCHOOL Please can we ask students to check their timetables and ensure they bring in the correct books, PE kits etc each day. Our reception staff are having to deal with a large number of items being brought in as they have been left at home. We are no longer able to call home if your child has forgotten any items. To avoid having to carry around particularly heavy bags, we suggest that students may want to bring in just their books for that particular day. Whilst we do not have lockers in school, most classrooms have a form cupboard where coats and PE kits can be safely left. Student Administration

Please try to bring in the correct change ( 3) to pay for your ticket as there will be no change available. Please see the next page of the newsletter for more details. WHY DO WE NEED IT? Friends of Sandon School works with the school year-round to provide extra funding, for example, this year, FOSS funded the Year 11 Leaver s Breakfast and the Year 13 Leaver s Barbecue. Additionally, FOSS provides money for the School Council to allocate to areas of the school that they decide need it, and also much more! WHAT IS IT? EasyFundraising is a way for you to raise money for the Friends of Sandon School just by doing your online shopping be that an Amazon order or booking a holiday! Some companies partner with EasyFundraising and a percentage of your total order will be donated to FOSS. This does not change how much you pay for items, it is a donation from the company! HOW CAN YOU HELP? To allow EasyFundraising to make donations to the Friends of Sandon School, you will need to make an EasyFundraising account. Once that is done, when you want to do some online shopping, simply visit the EasyFundraising site and search for the retailer there are big names, such as Amazon, Debenhams (2.5% donation), Hilton Hotels (up to 3% donation), Expedia (up to 4% donation), and Sainsbury s! Once you find the retailer, click the link and it will redirect you to the retailer s site, having activated the EasyFundraising donation. From there, it is as simple as before just do your online shopping as usual and the donation will automatically go to FOSS. You can also install a toolbar onto Google Chrome that will alert you when you are shopping somewhere a donation is possible. HOW DO I DO THAT? Simply follow this link to go to EasyFundraising s site, and from there make an account: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/fosandon/ THANK YOU!
