T H E C O U N T Y L I N E Lennon Veteran s Park Needs Donations The Friends of Doyle Knight are seeking donations from the community to help build Lennon s very own Veteran s Memorial Park. The property the Park will be located on is in Downtown Lennon, (Across the street from the Grain Elevator and adjacent to the Elevator storage areaclose to the train tracks.) This location is also across from Lennon Village Hall and Perkins Library. Anyone from the Lennon area who is a current or past Veteran may add your name to the wall that will go up at no cost. The Friends of Doyle Knight just need the full name and armed service sector. Granite-like stones of various sizes may be purchased that will include 2 short lines of engraving. These Idaho stones are all unique and are different in size, no two are alike. The stones will be laid out in the shape of Michigan, when the Park is completed. Stones are $100 for a small size, about 6x8 inches. A medium stone which is about 12x14 inches, is $200. Finally, the large size, which is about 15x24 inches is a $500 donation. (See picture right). Donations are accepted of any value, stone purchase is not required. If you would like to help plan and complete the Lennon Veteran s Memorial Park, please call Marcia Harris at 810-621-3695. The Friends of Doyle Knight meet about once a month and are looking for more participants and members. The next Friends of Doyle Knight (FODK) Meeting will be Monday, November 20th at 8:00 pm at the F A L L 2 0 1 7 Lennon Café. Please join us if you can. If you would like to enter a Veteran s name for the wall, contact Sharon Patsey at Lennon Telephone/TVC Cable. P.O. Box 369, Lennon, MI 48449. You can also send donations to that same address, and a receipt will be mailed back to you, or you can stop in and see her in person. Progress will be made shortly, as a white vinyl fence will go up before the ground freezes on the property, and the community can see that the Veteran s Park construction has begun. Please help honor our area Veteran s by supporting the new Memorial Park!

T H E C O U N T Y L I N E Lennon Lions News P A G E 3 The Lennon Lions would like to thank all those people who supported our recent annual Sportsman s Raffle. This year s raffle was another success and we owe that success to those people and businesses who helped sell raffle tickets and to those that purchased tickets. The Lennon Lions Club has been in existence for 45 years and has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars, to many worthwhile causes. Without the help of those who support Our causes, none of that would have been possible. We have maintained a large park and a small park in Lennon and we are always looking for new members to help continue with the upkeep of these parks. Anyone interested in joining this great Organization can call Don Austin at 810-621- 4550 or Bob Sturgis at 810-621-3485. Just before Christmas, for many years, the Lennon Lions has put together food baskets for families in need of help. This project takes Lennon Police & DPW Update A lot of work and planning. Most of the food for the baskets comes from food drives at Dieck Elementary, as well as Swartz Creek Middle and High Schools. The Lions appreciate the hard work those students and teachers put in to helping us make this program a success. Please consider joining the Lennon Lions Club, to help us continue with our Community projects we are involved with. Chief Folaron informed the Council that each Officer (3) and both patrol cruisers will be getting new radios capable of working on the encrypted frequency. The radios will have the abilities to communicate with the new frequency in Genesee County and the current frequency in Shiawassee County. This is over a $10,000 upgrade at no cost to the Village thanks to a Government grant. Our Officers are taking advance Emergency Trauma Training for multiple injuries and defense classes. Village DPW Supervisor Dan Wenzlick took advantage of a recent warmer day along with Nick Taylor from LTC/ TVC to put up the Holiday lights. The lights are slated to be turned on after Thanksgiving. The street banner cable was hit by a truck and alternate methods are being considered to hang the banner. Please remember to keep the streets clear 2:00 am - 6:00 am for snow removal. Thank you!
