denomination of origin (d.o.) within our wine list The classification of Spanish wines is a complex process that goes through a number of certifications before receiving the mainstream grading, referred to as the Denominación de Origen. In 1986 Spain adopted the EU-sponsored QWPSR (Quality Wine Produced in Specific Regions) regulatory code (Vino de Calidad Producido en Región Determinada (VCPRD) and in 2011, Spain was recorded as having approximately 120 regions that received geographical classification for cultivating wines.
