Guided Tour to the Piedmont & Lombardia Regions of Italy with the owner of Coco s Italian Market October 13th - October 19th 2018 Piedmont, Italy, a Fodor's GO List destination! Whether you re looking to indulge in great wine, amazing food or experience Italy's diverse culture, with your own personal guide who grew up in the area, Coco s Piedmont tour can t be missed. WINES From Nebbiolo to Moscato, there are varieties for every wine drinker in Piedmont and very good ones at that. Whether you re an occasional wine drinker or an oenophile, the region lives up to its wine expectations. TRUFFLES As if wine isn t tempting enough, the region s abundance of truffles will make the foodie in you salivate. We will go on a guided truffle hunting tour with a trained dog and celebrate our finds with great wine, cheese and salami at La Casa Del Trifulau Company. PICTURESQUE LANDSCAPES Even if Piedmont didn t have great wine and food, travelers would fall in love with the area s countryside, which was recently granted UNESCO World Heritage status. The sprawling vineyards go on forever, and medieval villages seem to pop up out of nowhere. Coco's Italia Market Four Tours to Italy 2018 Umbria April 21st - 27th Puglia June 21st 27th Piedmont October 13th - 19th Sicily October 23rd - 29th

Your Tour Guide Chuck Cinelli, owner of Coco s Italian Market: Traveling with Coco s is like having a Back Stage Pass to Italy, let me explain. What started off as buyers tours for our Italian grocery store has led to a tour company for the friends and patrons. Being a retailer of artisan products means that we have access to the most unique places that the average traveler would never be able to see such as chocolate factories, honey producers, bakeries and pasta facilities to name a few. Also with our partner in Italy being a national distributor they personally know the best chefs and wineries for our enjoyment. Our tours are never generic nor are they cookie cutter, every day will be totally different with enough time for sightseeing and shopping. I ve been to Italy many times but I have never had an experience like traveling with our host and co-owner of Attavola, Gioacchino Passalacqua. This is his 12th year as a travel guide and everything is very well planned, trust me you will love every intimate moment of your trip to Italy. Email me personally for any specific tour questions at chuck@cafecoco.com Your Tour Guide Gioacchino, Gio for short (GEO) is the co owner of Attovola at the table a distributor of gourmet food products from his native Italy. Having access to both artisan producers and high-end users like fine restaurants and hotels, means that Gio has a very personal relationship with people and places that the average tour guide would not be able to take his guests. Hence a most unique and marvelous trip that you will never forget. From an early age Gio s life revolved around food, though his home is now in Sicily he grew up in the Piedmont region where his father took care of vineyards. With his keen sense of quality foods and wines, Gio is sought out to consult on menus for fine restaurants, wine and food pairing events and promotional dinners. You could not ask for better epicurean to be your tour guide. He is liberal to share his knowledge with you and if you want you will learn more about foods and wines than you could have imagined. BTW Gio s English is excellent. Travel Agent Cynthia Schutt, an accredited travel agent with expertise in leisure travel, Cynthia takes care of your flights to and from Italy. With her help you can add on extra hotel nights and excursions you may want to do before and/or after this tour. Cynthia heads the leisure department for Travel Leader formally Wright Travel on 21st and Interstate 440. Wright travel has been serving Nashville for over 35 years and and Cynthia has been in the travel business for over 20 years. Coco s is very excited to partner with them and lend you their expertise Cynthia has booked hundreds of tours to Italy so rest assured your trip will be a great experience. Direct Line 615 463-0758 Main Line 615 783-1111 Learn to Speak Italian with Patti Nelson and Viviana Luison: While it is not a prerequisite for your trips to Italy with Coco s you may find it fun to learn a little Italian. Patti and Viviana are Italian tutors through Italian For Fun and teach Italian at various locations through Nashville including Coco's Italian Market s event center. Again these are escorted tours but if you want to learn the basics and add a little more charm to your trip then you may want to give the folks at Italian For Fun a call. italianforfun@gmail.com www.italianforfun.com 615.306.1615

Day 1: Saturday October 13 th : Milano Malpensa and Torino We arrive in Milano and travel to the town of Torino to check into our first hotel, Hotel Turin Palace. This is a beautiful resort with an excellent view of the Alps. We also meet our tour guides and get some insight into what adventures await us over the next few days. Hotel Turin Palace Torino Cathedral After a short rest, we ll have some free time to explore the city. Torino has so much to offer including the resting place of the Shroud of Turin in the Turin Cathedral. Shop along Via Garibaldi and make sure you go down it s side streets. Those streets feature some of the older shops of the city. If you are a film buff you may want to visit Mole Antonelliana, the National Museum of Cinema housed in a beautiful old synagogue. It s collections comprise a wide variety of media including: films, books and magazines, documents, photography, posters and advertisements, film apparatus, sketches, costumes, props and sound archives. www.museocinema.it/index.php National Museum of Cinema After returning to Torino, we ll have supper together at La Badessa Restaurant, a beautiful structure still resembling the nearby monasteries in the Piedmont region. We will start with a toast with a local Prosecco then onto other local flavours like the Cod Fritters, Pancetta Tagliatelle or any Black Truffle infused dishes. Let s end the evening with Barolo Chinato, a Piedmont digestive, a treat for lovers of both spirits and wine. Pronounced barolo kee-not-oh www.labadessa.net

Day 2: Sunday October 14th: Torino We ll wake up, have breakfast at the hotel and go out for a guided tour of Torino. Torino is the capital city of Piedmont. The Alps are to the northeast of the city. Stately baroque buildings and old cafes line Turin's boulevards. Ravera Chocolates Torino Following the tour we will have a tasting at Guido Gobino Pastry. Guido s creative passion, chocolate art and innovation, is considered today one of the most important craftsmen of chocolate, both nationally and internationally. After returning to the hotel you have the remainder of the day and evening to continue to explore the city of Torino and it s history. You may want to visit the Duomo, the Holy Shroud, which is conserved underneath Guarini s dome. NOW BOOKING for 2018 CALL 615.463-0758 ItalianMarket.biz/tour info@destinationitalybycocos.com

Day 3: Monday October 15 th : Torino /Asti/Benevello/Barolo After breakfast and check out at the hotel we ll take a short drive and enjoy the stunning natural scenery of the region and stop in the town of Asti where it is still possible to see wonderful Medieval parish churches and monuments from the 11th to 14th Centuries. Free time and lunch on your own in Asti. You would enjoy going to the home of the famed Barbero Confections Company. You will be impressed how they make their chocolate from scratch and use only the best hazelnuts from the region, Italian coffees and local essential oils to make their famous nougatine candies and chocolate confections. We ll get to witness everything in their 4 story factory including my favorite, the churning of the nougatine, of which we ll get a tasting of their multiple sweets. Coco s is proud to carry Barbero confections in our market. Check them out on our last tour on Coco s Italian Market YouTube channel. From Asti, we ll drive to Benevello for a 3:00 check in to Hotel Villa D Amelia. Villa D Amelia is a completely restored farmhouse with a large garden and heated pool overlooking Piedmont countryside. After a rest, we will depart for Barolo at 5:30 for a visit and tasting dinner at Cantine Barale. The wine lovers will really enjoy this trip.

Day 4: Tuesday October 16 th : Benevello/Costigliole d Asti and Alba After breakfast we all head to the nearby town of Costigliole D Asti to experience truffle hunting! Brothers Natale and Giorgio and their specially trained hound dog, Brio, will lead a guided tour to the natural truffles grounds and a hike along a scenic trail (with rest areas). They are 5th generation owners of La Casa del Trifulau Company and after the hike we will break bread with them and learn about the local traditions and foods, shave the truffles we find, and enjoy them with wine, cheeses and salamis. From there we will head to the hotel at 2:00 for a rest. At 5:30 we will leave for Alba. It is considered the capital of the UNESCO Human Heritage hilly area of Langhe, and is famous for its white truffle, peach and wine production. Enjoy a couple of hours shopping for sweets and wine. We will meet for dinner at 8:00 at the Restaurant Hostaria Museum. The Museum is situated on the site of an ancient Roman temple, full of fascinating items such as, medieval cellar, red bricks, Roman finds, large vault and wooden ceiling beams. The Restaurant entrance is situated in a cozy courtyard on Cavour Street at number 10. A few steps down and a solitude open world will appear. The name Museum was chosen rightly.

Day 5: Wednesday October 17 th : Benevello and Alba At 9:30, after breakfast, we will visit the White Truffle Fair in Alba. You will also need to pick up your ingredients for your Piemontese meal cooking class later this afternoon. We will have a light lunch with the Attavola staff. 8:00 cooking class dinner.

Day 6: Thursday October 18th: Benevello/Vercelli and Como After breakfast and check out, we will leave for Vercelli at 9:30. Where at 11:00 we will have a visit and tasting lunch at Cascina Brarola Company (rice Producer). There we will experience all the steps growing, harvesting and water control. Late September is the harvest period and continues until late October to Mid-November. From Vercelli we will travel to Como at 2:00 for check in at Hotel Terminus. Enjoy your afternoon exploring the city. There are beautiful water fronts to explore. The cathedral was started in 1396, so much history. We will meet for our final dinner at 8:00 at Restaurant I Tigli in Theoria. The I Tigli restaurant has merged with the Theoria art gallery. It provides a superb combination of art, history and gourmet cuisine.

Friday October 19 th : Milano and Milano Malpensa Airport For our last day, we ll have a breakfast at the hotel before checking out driving to the Milano Malpensa Airport. While on the plane you can sort through all your photos and make your final Face Book posts about your wonderful trip.
