THE BEERS INSIDE YOUR Hi Equity Punk! It s time for your latest re-up of super-fresh BrewDog beer delivered direct from our packaging line in Ellon to your front door. Yes, it s BottleBox time again! We have a dozen delights awaiting, and to switch things up we have moved our tasting notes online so you can check out the detail of your new arrivals via your smartphone whilst you are cracking each one of them open. So without further ado, let s take a look what delights await this time around! First up is the beer that started it all for us ten years ago our flagship Punk IPA. We are also including two other formative beers in the form of 5AM Saint and the mighty Dead Pony Club. There is also a bottled version of our ruthless India Pale Ale Jack Hammer, and a whole lot of canned craft beer to add straight to your fridge. In no particular order there s our 21st Century Pilsner Kingpin, our brand-new spring seasonal Hop Fiction (never canned before) and our dark lager inspired by the hidden gems on the continent Zeitgeist. Your final two beers are the superfresh Semi-Skimmed Occultist and the latest in our boundary-pushing collaborations, this time Brewdog vs Beavertown. We hope you enjoy these beers as much as we enjoyed brewing them! James and Martin
PUNK IPA 5AM SAINT PUNK IPA 5AM SAINT The beer that started a revolution. Our flagship India Pale Ale was the direct result of James and Martin brewing beer they wanted to drink, based on the influences of the burgeoning American craft beer scene. The resultant trans- Atlantic IPA is fresh, fullforward and pays due homage to the India Pale Ales of yesteryear. With explosions of fruity hops at every stage, it is truly a beer to rally behind something we have done since the day BrewDog was formed, ten years ago in 2007. With tropical fruits and light caramel on the nose, the palate soon becomes assertive and resinous with the New Zealand hops balanced by the biscuit malt. The finish is aggressive, dry and resinous, with the hops emerging over warming alcohol. This post-modern twist of huge levels of dry-hopping give that characteristic explosion of tropical fruit flavour from start to finish. Style: IPA ABV: 5.6% IBU: 35 Pair with: Chicken Tikka Colour: Light Gold Hops: Simcoe, Chinook, Ahtanum, Cascade, Nelson Sauvin, Amarillo Malts: Extra Pale, Cara A robust red ale, 5AM is hopped to the brink and back with some of our favourite North American hops and featuring a rich, roasty base of speciality malts for flavour and colour. The second beer we ever dry-hopped (after we had dialled in Punk IPA), this technique transformed one of our existing amber ales The Physics making a roasty, fruit beer so much more. Switching to US hops over English ones, combined with this massive dryhopping, created this hugely popular beer that has remained in our Headliner range ever since. The nose is a riot of citrus and berry aromas, from orange to lychee to redcurrant. On the palate is a bold resinous bitterness which builds against the burnt sugar sweetness. The finish is clean and the fruity notes linger on. A bitter twist on a classic style, this red ale takes the best of sweet malt and bitter hops and fuses them in perfect harmony. Style: American Red Ale ABV: 5% IBU: 35 Pair with: Ribs Colour: Red-Brown Hops: Cascade, Simcoe, Amarillo, Centennial, Ahtanum, Nelson Sauvin Malts: Extra Pale, Munich, Cara, Crystal, Dark Crystal : - 4 - : - 5 -
DEAD PONY CLUB JACK HAMMER DEAD PONY CLUB JACK HAMMER Inspired by the wave of classic American Pale Ales arriving in the UK, Dead Pony Club was first brewed at the start of 2012 although it seems like it has been around for a lot longer than five years. As a showcase for the amazing qualities US hops can bring to beers of midrange ABV levels, as such we took pointers from a number of different (but similar) styles to merge into a Session Pale Ale. Once released, Dead Pony Club very quickly became one of the most popular beers on the BrewDog roster and it still remains our second-best seller behind Punk IPA. Light, aromatic and zesty, Dead Pony Club revels in big citrusy aromas of lime zest and lemongrass against a light caramel backbone. At the first sip, there s light toffee malt before grapefruit and pine come crashing in this pale ale packs a full throttle hop punch, making it a low amplitude, high voltage hop hit. Style: Session Pale Ale ABV: 3.8% IBU: 40 Pair with: Prawn tempura Hops: Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic Malts: Pale, Cara, Crystal The beer we simply can t brew fast enough since going into cans Jack Hammer has truly caught the imagination. It has a long history, having come out of the 2012 Prototype Challenge and having gone on to firmly become a staff favourite. Our big-hitting India Pale Ale revels in bitterness and hop load, piling both up to near theoretical levels. The first of those in particular, as the International Bitterness Scale only goes up to 100. Jack Hammer tops out well above that as its many fans can attest We threw the kitchen sink at Jack Hammer from the first nose the aroma is full-on citrus and pine. With grapefruit, pineapple and lime resonating from start to finish, our ruthless India Pale Ale becomes progressively more bitter and resinous as you go. The aftertaste is a simple eulogy to the glory of the hop, and a celebration of the art of bitterness. Style: IPA ABV: 7.2% IBU: 100+ Colour: Golden Amber Pair with: Ceviche Hops: Amarillo, Centennial, Citra, Columbus, Simcoe Malts: Extra Pale : - 6 - : - 7 -
KINGPIN HOP FICTION KINGPIN HOP FICTION Of all the beer styles in all the world, the most bastardised by far are those of the lager family. So we worked for months to redress the balance with this Headliner, channelling the spirit of classic German pilsners into a king amongst knaves a true twenty-first century lager. Kingpin was designed by our brewteam to balance full-bodied malt character with classic continental hops; the all-malt bill setting the bar for everything that follows. Kingpin is a showcase, pure and simple, designed to return a much-maligned beer style back to the top, where it rightfully belongs. Robust, full-bodied malt character arrives on the palate laying the scene for the arrival of the hops, which follow along soon afterwards. The Magnum and Perle double act bring a onetwo of floral notes and spicy citrus bitterness, with the Magnum in particular resulting in a classically assertive Pilsner-style bitterness to the finish. Style: Lager ABV: 4.7% IBU: 40 Colour: Golden Pair with: Tuna Maki Hops: Magnum, Perle Malt: Pilsner, Pale, Cara, Munich To get a second chance to see how single hops affect flavour, our springtime seasonal Hop Fiction leads with Chinook but unlike its Ace of Hops cohort it then follows with other hops; the citrus and tropical-heavy combination of Amarillo and Mosaic. The resultant pale ale is perfect for this time of year; emerging from the colder weather into the (not entirely guaranteed) warmth is a beer that gives a lift just at the point of the calendar where one is needed. All of this brewery ingenuity results in two complementary surges of rounded citrus and light stone fruit (think mango, lychee and apricot), with rising hop-laced bitterness. Deploying the early and late hopping is all about those fruity flavours, carrying the light stone fruit elements through the entire beer, before that bitterness arrives on the palate to round everything out. Style: Pale Ale ABV: 5.2% IBU: 40 Colour: Gold Pair with: Waldorf Salad Hops: Chinook, Amarillo, Mosaic Malt: Extra Pale : - 8 - : - 9 -

TBC% Our first small-batch canned release of 2017 is hot off the press and looks an absolute picture thanks to the amazing custom can artwork from the incredible guys at The Red Dress. We wanted to produce something of true decadence, so have packed into the recipe everything that we could think of to raise the body and make a smooth, truly redolent deep stout. The four key additions exaggerate the mouthfeel and work with the blend of malts, oats and wheat to leave you with a beer that is best enjoyed on those dark, early-spring evenings when the weather is yet to break and the cold still seeps in around the door jambs. SEMI-SKIMMED OCCULTIST In a word? Opulence. The aromas start with cocoa and vanilla but it is the flavour that really holds the key to our latest small-batch release. Chocolate milkshake, roasty espresso and mellow vanilla blend into one in a smooth, fullbodied beer that is rich, deep and rewarding. When it comes to others at the top of their game then Beavertown are right at the very pinnacle, so it was an enormous pleasure to welcome them to Ellon for a collaborative brewday. On a pre-dawn voyage of discovery with London s finest we stumbled into daybreak and uncovered renewed purpose with this imperial stout. VS. BEAVERTOWN Riffing on the theme of how to kick-start those early mornings brewers find themselves battling against, this beer is a smoke and caffeinethemed heavyweight aged in three different whisky casks. Each of those aforementioned casks brings its own element into play the peaty Islay, oaky vanilla Bourbon and spicy Rye all having an input. With molasses, caramel, raisin and mocha notes this beer is dry, peaty and roasty and will charge your glassware and soul both. : - 11 - Style: Imperial Stout ABV: 12.1% Pair with: Smoked Brisket Hops: Magnum, Chinook Malts: Pale, Munich, Cara, Dark Crystal, Chocolate, Brown, Black, Smoked, Flaked Oats Extras: Dark Muscovado Sugar, Coffee, Islay, Bourbon and Rye Cask-Aged
