This easy-to-use recipe booklet contains all the recipes for our kits, as well as lots of useful tips I ve gathered over many happy years making these products. Everything you need to start your new and exciting hobby is here - complete guides to making your own fizzy bombs, luscious creamers, beautiful soaps, luxurious melts, and many other fantastic products are waiting for you inside. Read on, and happy crafting!

Put the sodium bicarbonate & citric acid into the mixing bowl. Sieve the mixture and then mix together until you have a consistent texture. We recommend setting a little aside in a sealed bag incase you add too much liquid in the mixing stage. If you are making more than one colour or fragrance, you will need to divide the mixture now. ADD THE COLOURING Add a small amount of powdered colour - as the colour deepens when it gets wet you can add more when you begin mixing. ADD THE FRAGRANCE Add just a few drops of essential oil or a little more if using fragrance oil. MIXING THE BOMB MIXTURE - A little at a time and stirring the mixture all the time, add a small amount of oil - a TEASPOON OR SO DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH MIXTURE YOU ARE USING and spray a little water on it with the spritz bottle As a rough guide, if you are using one bag of Sodium and one bag of Citric you should only need to spritz the mixture 4 or 5 times. Mix vigorously and continuously to avoid it fizzing-up in the bowl you can use an electric whisk. ONLY ADD ENOUGH OIL OR WATER TO MAKE THE MIXTURE HOLD TO- GETHER WHEN SQUEEZED IN YOUR HAND. A good test is to squeeze a lump in your hand and drop it into the bowl from about 12 height. If the lump stays solid your mix is probably right, if it breaks apart and crumbles it may need a little more liquid Taking the moulds, fill each half with mixture (make sure it's a lot more than full). Press the two halves together firmly, wait a few seconds (maybe count to 15) then very gently remove one half of the mould. Set the bomb on a dry clean surface and remove the other half of the mould. They usually come out easily but sometimes they need a tiny tap to release them. Be gentle with them at this stage, they are very fragile until they have hardened (about an hour, maybe 2). ADDING PETALS ETC You can put a small amount of petals in one half of the mould before filling it with mixture. This will ensure that the flowers are visible seen when you wrap the bombs. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Drop the bomb into the bath as you are running your water. Bath bombs have the effect of softening the water. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN USING ESSENTIAL OILS ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN. HAVE FUN!!!

TROUBLESHOOTING The most common mistake when making bath bombs is adding too much liquid. When you get it right it is surprising just how little the mixture needs. YOUR BOMBS KEEP EXPANDING AFTER DEMOULDING too much liquid. The citric has reacted and you will need to add more dry mix and stir vigorously. YOUR BOMBS ARE STUCK IN THE MOULD too much liquid scoop them out and, if they haven t hardened, add more dry mix. YOUR BOMBS FALL APART WHEN DEMOULDED Very rare but probably not enough liquid put them back in your bowl and spritz and stir a little more. YOUR BOMBS CRACK AND CRUMBLE AFTER DRYING A combination of a little too much liquid and not packing the mould tight enough or pressing hard enough. PLEASE NOTE THAT, EVEN WHEN BOMBS GO WRONG, THEY CAN STILL BE USED. CUPCAKE OR MUFFINS You can use a silicone tray or our muffin cases to make cupcake bath bombs with cocoa butter whipped topping. See the muffins recipe for how to achieve this stunning look. SPECKLED BOMBS You can achieve a speckled effect by adding the colour powder after you have spritzed the mixture - this gives the powder less time to absorb the water. MINI BOMBS You can make very cool mini bombs using ice cube trays silicone is best. Add a little more oil (or melted shea butter) and really pack the mixture down hard.

IF MAKING VARIOUS COLOURS OR FRA- GRANCES YOU SHOULD DIVIDE THE SOAP BASE FIRST. MELTING THE SOAP BASE - Cut the soap base into fairly small squares - about 2 cm by 2 cm and then put it into the pan. Turn on the heat - it doesn't matter what setting but the soap should never boil. Keep stirring until it is thoroughly melted. Alternatively, melt the soap base in a microwave (in a Pyrex jug/bowl) on a medium to high setting for 1 minute bursts. Be careful not to boil the soap base and stir occasionally to distribute heat. ADD THE COLOURING If you re using liquid colour you will just need a few drops. ADD THE FRAGRANCE Add just a few drops of essential oil or a little more if using fragrance oil. Most essential or fragrance oils are safe to use but please be aware some people have a sensitivity to highly fragranced products. Also if you are making soaps for children it is advisable to use fragrance oils and avoid essential oils. MAKING THE SOAPS - your soap is now ready to pour into the moulds - do so carefully. If you want to make a 2 coloured soap you will need to half fill the mould, leave it to set thoroughly, melt the next batch of soap base and then repeat the process. Simply pour the second batch on top of the first batch - they should seal together making one bar. They should be cooled before pouring so that the second batch does not melt the first batch when poured. EMBED SOAPS - You can make small soap shapes to put in your moulds and then pour another colour (when cooled) on top to make very striking soaps. EXFOLIATING SOAPS - It is easy to add petals, oats or exfoliators (such as poppy or sesame seeds) to your soaps. Sprinkle them on top when the soap is half set or, if you'd like your petals suspended in the soap, wait until the soap is partly solid and stir in the petals. If they sink or rise, wait 10 minutes and give it a stir. Some petals will form mould if left too long before use. AND FINALLY - When your soap is thoroughly set you should be able to simply flip the mould over and tap the soap out. If they don't come out straight away, twisting the moulds should release the soap.

MIX THE BASIC INGREDIENTS - We suggest using EITHER just one packet (or even a half a packet) for your first try so you will need to divide the butters in half. Put 600g of bicarbonate and 300g citric acid into a mixing bowl. It is best to sieve the mixture to break up any lumps. Mix together until you have a consistent texture. MELT THE BUTTERS Cut 50g of cocoa butter into small pieces and place it in the pan. Heat the butter until it is melted and then add 25g of shea butter. You can add a small amount of oil (jojoba, almond etc) if you wish. Mix the butters and oils into the bath bomb mix until you have a fairly smooth consistency. If you wish to make 2 or 3 colours or fragrances, you will need to divide the mix now. COLOURING THE MIXTURE - Simply add a small amount of the powder colour at a time to the mixture, until you have your desired colour. ADDING PETALS - If you want to put petals or seeds into your mixture you can add it to the mixture now. If you add too many petals the mixture might not stick together and your creamers will crumble a little goes a long way. ADD THE FRAGRANCE Add a few drops of essential oil or a little more if using fragrance oil to the mixture and mix it in - breaking up any lumps of fragrance with the back of a spoon. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN USING ES- SENTIAL OILS, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN SPRITZ the mixture with warm water from the spray bottle, while stirring vigorously. The mixture needs to reach a consistency where it will stick together when squeezed in the palm of your hand but without being too wet. If you hear a slight fizzing from the mixture, stop spritzing and stir the mixture vigorously. MOULDING THE CREAMERS - You can hand mould them by rolling a small amount between your palms OR using a 2 part mould, you should fill each half with mixture (more than full). Press the two halves together firmly, wait a few seconds (maybe count to 15) then very gently remove one half of the mould. Set the creamer on a dry clean surface and remove the other half of the mould. If you are using a silicone tray mould - you will need to press the mixture into the cavities - it is best to over fill them and then press and smooth the tops with the back of a spoon. Leave to cool and harden overnight before demoulding. HAVE FUN!!!

MIX THE BASIC INGREDIENTS - Put the bicarbonate of soda and the citric acid into the mixing bowl (If you are just making one pack you will need to divide the oils and butters by half). You will need to sieve or break the mixture up if it s in lumps. Mix together until you have a consistent texture. Melt the cocoa butter in a pan or in short (1 minute) bursts in the microwave - please be careful not to over heat. Add the almond oil and then add the butters & oils to your mixture - stir thoroughly and you may need to squash any lumps with the back of a spoon. IF MAKING VARIOUS COLOURS OR FRAGRANCES YOU WILL NEED MORE THAN ONE BOWL AND SHOULD DIVIDE THE MIXTURE NOW. ADD THE COLOURING Add the powdered colour a small amount at a time until you have your desired colour. ADD THE FRAGRANCE If you are using one pack of sodium & citric you will need about 10mls of fragrance oil - this can be all the same fragrance or a mixture. Mix in quickly and thoroughly. You should spritz the mixture with a little warm water until you have a slightly sticky (but NOT wet) texture. The mixture may react to the water so make sure to stir well as you spritz - also make sure you have no dry deposits of mix at the bottom of your bowl. This is a bit like cake making when you need to mix the flour in well. You need to spoon the mixture into the truffle cases now and you'll need to work quickly. You can either fill the cases and flatten the top of the muffin, or over fill and hand mould the tops to look more like cupcakes. DECORATIONS - Press or sprinkle any decorations on to the top of the truffles. FINISHING OFF Place the truffles on a tray or baking sheet and try to leave them to dry and harden (in a cool place) without disturbing them. They can be placed in the fridge, which will harden the cocoa butter quickly. HINTS & TIPS - When filling your cases, you do need to make sure the mixture is pressed down fairly well. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Take the truffle out of the case and drop it into the bath as you are running your water. The cocoa butter and oils should melt but the bath will be very slippery after use. If you are giving the truffles as gifts, please make sure to put this on a label.

MAKE THE BASE MIX THE BASIC INGREDIENTS - Put the bicarbonate of soda and the citric acid into the mixing bowl. You will need to sieve or break the mixture up if it s in lumps. Mix together until you have a consistent texture. Add a small amount of almond oil. ADD THE COLOURING Add the powdered colour a small amount at a time, until you have your desired colour. ADD THE FRAGRANCE If you are using one pack of sodium & citric you will need about 10mls of fragrance oil - this can be all the same fragrance or a mixture. WORKING QUICKLY - spritz the mixture with water whilst stirring continuously As a rough guide, if you are using one bag of sodium and one bag of citric you MAY only need to spritz the mixture 4 or 5 times. ONLY ADD ENOUGH OIL OR WATER TO MAKE THE MIXTURE HOLD TOGETHER WHEN SQUEEZED IN YOUR HAND. A good test is to squeeze a lump in your hand and drop it into the bowl from about 12 height. If the lump stays solid your mix is probably right, if it breaks apart and crumbles it may need a little more liquid. Spoon the mixture into the muffin cases; you'll need to work quickly. You can either fill the cases and flatten the top of the muffin or you can over fill and then hand mould the tops to look more like buns. You need to pack the mixture quite tightly into the case but take care not to deform the cases. Leave to harden and dry preferably overnight. MAKING THE TOPPING Melt the cocoa butter in a pan or in short (1 minute) bursts in the microwave - please be careful not to over heat. Once it is melted it will need to cool - you can pop it in the fridge, but check it often, as it will quickly become too hard to mix (if this happens, just put it in a microwave for 10-20 secs). What you are looking for is a soft, buttery texture. WHIPPING THE BUTTER You can do this by hand but it is better with an electric whisk - whip up the cocoa butter until you have a white, thick (but soft) cream. You can then spread the creamy butter on top of the muffin or scoop the butter into a piping bag and pipe the topping onto the muffins. DECORATIONS - Press or sprinkle any decorations on to the top of the muffin.

MELTING THE BUTTERS - Cut the shea butter and cocoa butter into small pieces (about 1cm square) and place in a pan with the beeswax. Heat the mixture - stirring and making sure it doesn't get over heated as, like ordinary butter, it can burn. You can use a microwave but you must heat on a low heat for a few minutes at a time, checking every so often to make sure the butters have not burnt. Once melted leave the butters to cool for a few minutes and add the jojoba oil you can use any other oils if you prefer. You can add up to 50mls of oils but the more you add the softer your melts will be. This can sometimes cause them to melt at room temperature; keep them in the fridge to prevent this. IF MAKING VARIOUS FRAGRANCES YOU WILL NEED MORE THAN ONE BOWL AND SHOULD DIVIDE THE MIXTURE NOW. ADDING PETALS - If you want to put petals, seeds or herbs into your mixture you can add them now. Don t add too many, as they may cause your melts to fall apart. ADD THE FRAGRANCE Add a 1 to 3mls of essential oil or a little more if using fragrance oil to the mixture. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN USING ESSENTIAL OILS ESPECIALLY WITH CHIL- DREN & PREGNANT WOMEN. MAKING THE MELTS - Once all the ingredients are mixed and fragranced, pour the butters into the moulds - I use a tablespoon or very small ladle so as to avoid over filling & spilling the mixture. POP THE FILLED MOULDS IN THE FRIDGE FOR AN HOUR OR TWO TO COOL AND HARDEN. Once fully cooled the melts should pop out of the moulds easily and should be stored in an airtight container to avoid losing the aroma or being contaminated with other odours. ADDING PETALS ETC You can put a small amount of petals in the mould before filling it with mixture. This will ensure that the flowers are seen when you wrap the melts. You can also add rose buds to the top of the melts before they are fully solidified. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Drop the melt into the bath as you are running your water - it will slowly melt leaving a rich, moisturising oil on the skin.

MELTING THE BUTTERS - Cut the shea butter and cocoa butter into small pieces (about 1cm square) and place in a pan with the beeswax. Heat the mixture - stirring and making sure it doesn't get over heated as, like ordinary butter, it can burn. You can use a microwave, but you must heat on a low heat for a few minutes at a time, checking every so often to make sure the butters have not burnt. Once melted, leave the butters to cool for a few minutes and add the oil. You can add more oils but the more you add the softer your bar will be this can sometimes cause them to melt at room temperature. You can keep them in the fridge to prevent this. IF MAKING VARIOUS FRAGRANCES YOU WILL NEED MORE THAN ONE BOWL AND SHOULD DIVIDE THE MIXTURE NOW. ADDING EXFOLIATORS - If you want to put seeds, grains or herbs into your mixture you can add these now they will probably rise to the top of the bar and this can look quite pretty. ADD THE FRAGRANCE Add a few drops of essential oil or a little more if using fragrance oil to the mixture. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN USING ESSENTIAL OILS ESPECIALLY WITH CHIL- DREN & PREGNANT WOMEN. MAKING THE BARS - Once all the ingredients are mixed and fragranced pour the butters into the mould - I use a ladle so as to avoid over filling & spilling the mixture. YOU CAN POP THE FILLED MOULD IN THE FRIDGE TO HARDEN AND COOL. Once fully cooled the bar should pop out of the mould easily - I advise storing the bars in the fridge, especially in very warm weather as they will melt slightly at room temperature. ADDING PETALS ETC You can put a small amount of petals in the mould before filling it with mixture. This will ensure that the flowers are seen when you wrap the massage bars. The mould is suitable for making soap so you can make massage soaps and bars. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Hold the bar in the palm of your hands until some of the oils have melted on your skin, and then massage into your skin. Or use the bar directly on your skin.

MIX THE BASIC INGREDIENTS - Break the cocoa butter up into small pieces. This speeds up the melting process. Add the shea butter and the beeswax to the cocoa butter. Place these ingredients in the mixing bowl and place the bowl into a pan of shallow water. Place the pan on the hob and begin to heat, stirring continuously. You can use a microwave but you must heat on a low heat for a few minutes at a time. Checking every so often to make sure the butters have not burnt. When the butters have melted you can add the sweet almond oil and leave to cool slightly. ADD THE FLAVOURING Your kit contains more than enough flavour oil for this amount of lip balm so add about half to the mixture now - if you want to make 2 different flavours you will need to divide the mixture now. DO NOT LEAVE THE MIXTURE TO STAND OR IT WILL START TO SET. DECANTING INTO THE POTS - Leave a little of the mixture aside for topping up the balms. Spoon the mixture into pots and leave to cool. Sometimes you will see a little dipping or hollowing in the middle of the balm as it cools - simply remelt the extra mixture that you set aside and top up the pots. Leave to cool and harden - minimum 1 hour but best for 5 or 6 hours. You can place them in the fridge to cool if you wish to speed up the cooling. IDEAS & HINTS CHOCOLATE LIP BALM You can put a small amount of real chocolate (we recommend a good quality chocolate with 70-80% cocoa). Melt the chocolate with the cocoa butter and shea butter and proceed as normal. If your lip balm is too soft you can remelt it and add a little more cocoa butter or beeswax. If it is too hard remelt and add a little more oil. You can make a lip gloss using a very small amount of cosmetic grade mica pigment you must ensure that you purchase the correct colouring for use in lip products and we only advise that experienced makers of cosmetics attempt this.

Weigh your butters you can use any combination of butters but some butters cocoa butter especially will make a harder product; coconut & shea will make a softer butter depending on how much oil is used. To make approx 250g of Body Butter use 150g total Butter Break the butters into fairly small pieces and place them in a pan. Add the beeswax and turn on the heat to a medium temperature. Heat and stir until the solids have melted and then remove from the heat. You can use a microwave but you must heat on a low heat for a few minutes at a time, checking every so often to make sure the butters have not burnt. Leave to cool for about 10 minutes then add the oils, glycerine and the vitamin E oil. ADDING THE FRAGRANCE If you want to make 2 separate fragranced body butters you should divide the mixture now. You have enough fragrance oil to fragrance all of your butter but if you add it while the butter is still hot, some of the scent will evaporate. It is best to leave it until the butter is semi-solid. Add the fragrance and mix well. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN USING ESSENTIAL OILS. Leave your butter to cool for another half an hour and it is now ready to decant into spa tubs. Give it a vigorous stir, then simply spoon the mixture into the tubs. Put the top loosely onto the tub and leave to cool for a few hours. HOW TO MAKE WHIPPED BODY BUTTER When your butter is semi solid (this usually takes half an hour and you will notice the top of the butter going hard), you can whip it using a hand blender or electric whisk. After a minute or two you will notice it begins to go paler and fluff up. If the butter is still liquid it will take longer to whisk but will still work as the air you are incorporating will cool the butters further. TOP TIP Cocoa butter will make for a much harder whipped butter so I suggest using shea and coconut butter and leaving out the beeswax for a soft and creamy butter. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Rub the butter into areas of your skin that need deep moisturising: elbows, knees, tops of arms. Your butter is suitable for your face providing you have not t used too much fragrance oil. Remember to label your butters with the date you made them so you know how long you can safely keep them they should be safe for up to 18 months.

TO MAKE AN OIL BASED SCRUB WITH GLYCERINE 200g sea salts OR sugar 50mls of oil & glycerine Fill one spa tub with salt or sugar leaving about 2cm at the top so you have room mix. Add up to 50mls of oil and glycerine (depending on how oily you like your scrubs you can add more or less oil, but I wouldn t recommend going over 50mls total) and then add about 2mls of fragrance and 5 drops of vitamin E (this will help to preserve the oils). Stir well until all the sugar/salt is coated with oil. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Best used in the bath. Simply scoop out the desired amount of scrub into your palm and rub in a circular motion. Rinse and wash off. TO MAKE A SOAP BASED SCRUB 200g of salt or sugar 100mls of shower gel Half fill your tub with shower gel and then fill the tub almost full with either salt or sugar. If you are using unfragranced shower gel you can then fragrance with approx. 3mls of fragrance. Stir well until the salt/sugar is well covered. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Best used in the bath. Simply scoop out the desired amount of scrub into your palm and rub in a circular motion. Rinse and wash off. TO MAKE A SOLID SUGAR SCRUB BAR Using a soap mould (or a spa tub) put the sugar in the bottom and then pour melted soap base over it stirring well to make sure there is no sugar left uncoated. Leave to cool and harden best placed in the fridge for this. DIRECTIONS FOR USE- Solid scrubs are best used in the bath simply glide the scrub bar over your skin rubbing gently in a circular motion. Then soak in the bath washing the sugar and dead skin off. IDEAS OATMEAL SCRUB - You can substitute sugar or salt with coarse grained oatmeal which has the effect of softening your skin or you can add the oatmeal to the sugar or salt scrub. HERBS & SPICES You can add small amounts of spices and herbs to your oil based scrubs, but make sure you aren t allergic to any of them before you add them to your scrubs. Good herbs to use are green tea, basil and rosemary.

Making Face Masks Put 3 x tablespoons of clay powder into the tub and mix in approximately 3 teaspoons of floral water. Add just ONE drop of vitamin E oil this will soften the skin and help to preserve the face mask. Then add 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel this will thicken the mask a little. If adding fragrance you will only need ONE or TWO drops. Please be aware that some people have skin which is sensitive to some fragrances so take care not to add too much. When the mixture is well mixed and smooth in consistency, it is ready to use. DIRECTIONS FOR USING THE MASK Spread the mixture evenly on your face avoiding contact with eyes and lips. Leave the mask on for 5 minutes and then wash off with clean warm water. Face masks can be used once a week to deep cleanse the skin. Making Face Scrubs Put 3 x tablespoons of clay powder into a tub and mix in approximately 1 x tablespoon of oil. If the scrub seems too dry then go ahead and add more oil. You can add some moisturising cream or a teaspoon of the aloe gel to thicken it, but this depends on how you like your skin scrubs. You can also add some seeds, nuts, grains or oats between 1 and 3 teaspoons. Add ONE drop of vitamin E oil and ONE OR TWO drops of fragrance. When the mixture is well mixed and smooth in consistency it is ready to use. DIRECTIONS FOR USING THE SCRUB Using the tips of your fingers scoop a little face scrub onto your skin and, working in small circular motions, gently exfoliate the skin. DO NOT RUB OR SCRUB AT THE DELICATE SKIN OF YOUR FACE. Your masks and scrubs are best made up fresh to use but will keep for up to a month in the fridge. Making exfoliating soaps - See the soap making section for directions on how to make the soap base Add fragrance (approximately 1ml) and any other ingredients you wish. i.e. 2 x tsp clay powder; 2 x tsp of seeds or grains or a mixture.

STAGE ONE - MIX THE FATS 20g Cetyl Alcohol 25g Emulsifier 90mls Oils (in whatever combination works for you) Place the above ingredients in the mixing bowl and place the bowl into a pan of shallow water. Place the pan on the hob and begin to heat, stirring continuously. When they have melted keep them on the hob to raise the temperature; if you have a thermometer the heat needs to be 75-80C. STAGE TWO - MIX THE WATER BASED INGREDIENTS 40g Water Based Emulsifier 40mls Glycerine 780mls Spring Water You will need another bain marie Put the water based emulsifier and glycerine in a bowl then heat the spring water in a pan. Pour the spring water onto the water based emulsifier and glycerine mixture. Whisk thoroughly to make sure all the emulsifier has dissolved and place the bowl in a pan of shallow water and heat it needs to be hot but not simmering or boiling. STAGE THREE - MAKING THE CREAM Leave the water based mixture on the hob but remove the fat-based mixture from the heat. Pour the fat based mixture into the water-based mixture in a steady stream, whilst whisking thoroughly from side to side. Continue whisking for at least 5 minutes. You may need to scrape the edges of the bowl to thoroughly mix - similar to when mixing a cake mix. You will need to continue to stir the cream while it cools - speed up the cooling process by placing the bowl in a pan or larger bowl filled with cold water. STAGE FOUR - ADDITIONS When the cream has cooled but is not cold you should add the vitamin E oil & preservative (without this the cream will only last 3-5 weeks, with it the cream should last 1-3 years). Keep stirring and when the cream has cooled to room temperature add the fragrances or essential oils of your choice. Add only a few drops per 100mls IDEAS & HINTS CREAMS FOR DIFFERENT SKIN TYPES - Substitute the included oils with others for different skin types: thistle oil instead of apricot for oily skin; macadamia or jojoba oil instead of almond oil for mature skin. BODY LOTIONS AND CREAMS - Once you have made your basic cream, you can gently heat it and add 50-100mls of oil to make a lighter body lotion, or 100g of lightly heated shea butter to make a body cream.

We are often asked whether our customers are able to sell the products they make with our kits. There is a lot of legislation surrounding the manufacture and sale of cosmetics, including bath & body products. The skin is the largest organ on the human body. That which is placed on it can be absorbed into the systems of the body. As the manufacturer, you are responsible for making sure that you stay within the law when you embark on making and selling cosmetics. In fact, as the manufacturer you are responsible for ensuring the safety of your products, ensuring the correct labelling of your products, and ensuring that you have adequate insurance cover in the event that anything should go amiss with your products. The starting point should be that you know what you are doing. You should have, at the very minimum, some experience of what you are making. Know how the ingredients of your products interact with one another and with the skin of the consumer, to whom you are selling. THE EU COSMETICS DIRECTIVE This is a huge document that would take too many pages to reproduce here, but, very basically, as a member of the European Union, the United Kingdom has signed up to being governed by their legislative guidance. In effect, this means that the UK has to ensure that it has laws in place that will cover the areas within the directive. Principally, those laws are: Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 2008 General Product Safety Regulations introduced in 1994 If you are selling to the public (and perhaps online), then you also need to take into account the following: The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (amended by The Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994) Consumer Safety Act 1978 The Trades Description Act 1968 and 1972 The Consumer Protection Distance Selling Regulations 2000 If you need advice or assistance with any of the above we can offer consulta- tion (by email) for a small fee.
