TRADITION
REVOLUTION, hence the same word
The Francisco Gómez winery nestles inside a magnificent valley among luxuriant green slopes and winding mountains that are interspersed with dry river beds and rolling hills. Located inland of the Mediterranean Sea, 700 metres above sea level, the microclimate of this valley has always been perfectly suited for growing vines and olive trees. Mediterranean woodland, pine trees, evergreen oaks, rosemary bushes and local wildlife that includes hares, partridges and golden eagles, intermingle with 1.000-year old olive trees, old Monastrell vines and interminable rows of vine trellises in an extraordinary 3.500 hectare estate, 600 hectares of which are dedicated to vine and olive growing.
The growing methods at Bodegas Francisco Gómez are conducted according to environmentallyfriendly and sustainable principles, following the strict requirements stipulated by organic growing. Over the years, we have carefully merged the time-honoured, local methods with the most modern technology and techniques and have succeeded in establishing a way of working that is genuine, appropriate and adapted to the unique conditions of our olive groves and vineyards.
Our Extra Virgin Olives Oils Ever since the Phoenicians were present in this part of Spain, the Alicante province has produced this precious liquid and exported it all over the world. The different peoples that have inhabited the area used olives for different purposes: some simply used olives for juice; others had a domestic or cosmetic use for them while others chose them as an offering. The ancient Alicante legacy of oil production continues to thrive at Bodegas Francisco Gómez, where the growing methods have been perfected through the introduction of new techniques and technology in the different processes of olive oil production. We maintain a thorough control of the whole process so as to determine the optimum times to carry out the different jobs in the olive groves. In doing so, we can also determine the peak moment of ripeness for the picking of the olives and their transfer for pressing to our state-ofthe-art olive mill. Located on the estate, the mill has pressed 700,000 kg of olives sourced exclusively from our 300 hectares (741 acres) of olive groves. This is the best way of guaranteeing that our olive oil is a totally natural product one of pure juice- with extraordinary appearance, aromas and flavours and delicious in taste. Long stretches of olive groves covering the landscape produce varieties such as Arbequina, Picual and Grosal as well as other minority varieties, either as single variety olive oils or blends, providing us solely with the first extra virgin olive oil 100% natural and the liquid gold of the Mediterranean diet. Pure olive juice from the olive tree to the dining table in little over half an hour.
