WHEN YOU ARRIVE
OPENING Welcome Guests & Thank Host: Hello everyone Before we start swirling and sipping, I d like to thank our Host for having me here today and to all of you for joining us (present Host Thank You Bottle). I m really excited to share some of our artisan wines with you My name is and I am an Independent Wine Consultant with WineShop At Home. I am a wine lover, just like you. My job is simple (and fun): I m looking for a home sweet home for three to four cases of wine today I just want you to know that I am not a wine expert I am a professional wine consumer I love wine and that is why I do this. At the end of the Tasting, you will have an opportunity to schedule your own or get information about doing what I do It s easy, fun and profitable Okay, now who s ready to taste and stock their cellar? OPENING Jane Creed, President & CEO Alex Reble, Winemaker Company Story: WineShop At Home is a licensed, bonded Napa Valley winery that offers more unique wine styles and varietals from all over the world than any other wine company. Our award winning wines are handcrafted by our winemaker and priced for extraordinary value. You won t find these wines on store shelves, or anywhere else. From sweet and bubbly, to dry and crisp whites, smooth and supple, to bold and intense reds, we feature artisan wines for every occasion, palate and personality.
TASTING FIRST: Distribute your Order Boards with a pen, the Wine Tasting Menu, Wine Tasting Sheet, Interest Form (optional) and your business card (optional) inserted. As we taste each wine, I ll share with you its key attributes: its region or appellation, aromas, flavors and ideal pairings. The Wine Tasting Menu shows you all of our current wines and we ll be using this to keep track of the wines today. Put a little star by the ones you particularly like and at the end of the Tasting, I ll recommend a few companion wines in the same category on the Wine Tasting Menu. And remember, the great thing about a WineShop At Home Tasting is that you get to try before you buy TAS T I N G WINESHOP Keep it simple and don t over pack your Order Board with too many marketing materials. Instead, use the back of the Order Board to insert a flyer or brochure. AT HOME WINE TASTING GUIDE
THEN: Remember that your Host must pour the wine throughout the Wine Tasting. As your Host pours the first wine, remember to use the Posi-Pour for guaranteed 1 oz. pours. Tell your Host to pour with the bottle almost vertical until they hear a little click. We will be tasting 1 oz. pours of some amazing wines today. As you enjoy the first wine, I d like to start by sharing with you some fun Wine Tasting techniques called the S s of wine. TAS T I N G
S s of Wine TASTING SEE: Look for clarity and bold color. Hold your glass up to the light so that you can see through the wine. SWIRL: Gently swirl the wine to allow more air to permeate the wine and release its flavors & bouquet more fully. (Sparkling wines should not be swirled as it releases too much of the gases.) SMELL: When smelling wine, be bold. Stick your nose right into the glass where the aromas are captured. The smell of the wine is also referred to as its nose. Bouquet also refers to smell. SIP: Hold it in your mouth, purse your lips, and if you re brave, draw in some air across your tongue over the wine. Now swish it in your mouth as if you are chewing it. Then swallow. The process should take a few seconds. So what do you taste? (Refer to the listed flavors, aromas and the food pairings from your Tasting Tips to name a few key points.) Pass around the wine s VintNote to the guests after they have tasted the wine. Repeat this process with every wine in the Wine Tasting Sampler. The following pages are where you can insert your Tasting Tips. TAS T I N G
