JLH2B5 FOR YOUR SAFETY IF YOU SMELL GAS 1. Shut off gas to the appliance 2. Extinguish any open flames 3. Open lid 4. If odour continues, immediately call your gas supplier or fire department. Safety information Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service or mainte- nance can cause injury or property damage. Read the instruc- tions thoroughly before installing this appliance. The installation of your barbecue must meet all local codes and/or gas utility requirements. Keep any electrical supply cord and fuel supply hose away from any heated surface. Do not perform any servicing on the barbecue yourself. Call an approved gas engineer. It is important you install your barbecue exactly as described in these instructions. In particular you should keep the barbecue clear of combustible material, and you should check for leaks whenever a new gas connection is made. Do not leave the barbecue unattended. Keep children away from the appliance at all times. Keep the barbecue clean to avoid fat fires. FAT FIRES WILL VOID ANY WARRANTY. Note gas type: Within these instructions we make reference to gas cylinders and regulators. This barbecue is suitable for propane or butane gas. We recommend you use a 27mm clip on propane gas bottle to enable barbecuing all year round. The length of the hose must not exceed 1.5m. The hose should not be twisted. This appliance must be kept away from flammable materials when in use. There must be no obstruction to the ventilation of the barbecue frame. Changing the gas bottle MUST be carried out away from any source of combustion and in accordance with the gas bottle manufactures instructions. 8 FOR YOUR SAFETY 1. For outdoor use only 2. Do not store or use gasoline or other Flammable vapours or liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. 3. An LP cylinder not connected for use shall not be stored in the vicinity of this or any other pipelines. Installation Where to put your barbecue This barbecue must be installed according to these Instructions. This appliance is for OUTDOOR USE ONLY. Use in a well ventilated space only. This unit MUST NOT be used in a building, garage or any other enclosed area. This appliance should NOT be located under any overhead, unprotected combustible construction. The back, side and bottom of the barbecue should NOT be any closer than 100mm to a combustible surface. THIS OUTDOOR COOKING GAS APPLIANCE IS NOT INTENDED TO BE INSTALLED IN OR ON RECREATIONAL VEHICLES AND/OR BOATS. Keep the area near your barbecue and cylinder clear of debris and ensure that it is well ventilated. Never place your barbecue near any combustible material, gasoline or other flammable vapours or liquids. Assembly and gas connection Assemble according to 1-10 on pages 5-7 Check the gas type sticker attached to the barbecue. Ensure the appliance supplied is suitable for the gas type you require. Throughout Europe, barbecues use butane or propane gas, please be aware that different types of gas cylinder valves are in widespread use. The regulator must be designed to fit the cylinder valve that you purchased. Never attempt to force a quick-on connection regulator onto a cylinder valve. It is much safer to contact your barbecue supplier or gas supplier for assistance. LP gas pressure regulators and hose assemblies must be used without alteration. The hose must be inspected for abrasion, wear or cuts prior to each use. If the hose or regulator assembly needs to be replaced, use only the type specified by the manufacturers of this appliance. The regulation hose should be connected to the appliance by fitting hose to the inlet connection. Please use a spanner to ensure this conection is tight and no gas can escape. Do not use thread tapes or sealers on these connections.

JLH2B5 Installation The hose should be fitted securely to the barbecue and to a butane or propane gas regulator, using the appropriate clips. HI OFF HI OFF HI OFF When not in use the gas cylinder MUST be turned off. Never store your gas cylinder inside a building or in the vicinity of any gas burning apparatus. When not in use, gas cylinders must be stored outside in a well ventilated area and out of reach of children. Never allow the cylinder to tip over. The cylinder must be installed in an upright position. The cylinder must have a collar to protect the cylinder gas valve. Do not store a spare gas cylinder under or near this appliance. Storage of the gas cylinder under or near this appliance and/or overfilling this cylinder may cause a fire resulting in death or serious injury. Checking for leaks This should be done the first time you connect your barbecue, and again every time you disconnect and reconnect any fitting. Turn the gas on at the cylinder but do not turn the burners on. This fills the gas lines with gas. Now brush or pour some soapy water onto the connections. If there is a leak, bubbles should appear within about 20 seconds. If you find any leaks, tighten the connection. If the leak persists, return to you place of purchase. Never use a flame of any kind to test for leaks. Using your barbecue Lighting the barbecue Lighting the barbecue is easy, but must be done with due care. Make sure that the gas is turned on at the cylinder. Do not lean directly over the barbecue when lighting the burners. Ignition - Push the right hand main burner knob in and turn anti- clockwise to the HI position. You should hear and feel a click as the igniter creates a spark to light the gas. 9 LO The knobs have 3 basic positions. You can achieve any flame height between low and high by rotating the knob between these positions. When you ve finished cooking, leave the burners on HI for a maximum of 5 minutes to burn off any excess from the burners and other surfaces. To turn the barbecue off, it is best to turn off the cylinder first, and allow all the gas left in the hose to burn off. This will only take a couple of seconds, then turn off all burners LO To turn to high, push the knob in and turn anti-clockwise Controlling the flames Turning off LO Keep turning to reach the low position Once the burner is alight, you can light the adjacent burner by rotating the gas control knob to HI. If the burner does not light first time, turn the gas control knob to the off position and try a couple more times. If the burner still does not light, wait a few minutes to allow the gas to dissipate before trying again. Manual ignition - If for any reason your ignition does not work you may put a long lighted match to the burner and then turn on the burner to get ignition. We recommend the use of protective gloves i.e. a barbecue mitt when handling particularly hot components, i.e. kebab skewers, rotisserie, baskets, griddles and stir fry plates, meat and fish baskets etc. to avoid injury. At no time should any parts sealed by the manufacturer be altered by the user. NEVER move the appliance during use, when lit or hot

JLH2B5 Cooking Lightly coat the cooking surface with oil. This will prevent food from sticking. Light the burners, and leave on low for about 3-5 minutes to warm the barbecue up. You re now ready to start cooking. Curing the cooking surface Take the cooking surfaces and wash them with mild soapy water to remove dust and oils that may be left over from manufacturing. Dry these off and then spray a light coating of cooking oil on all surfaces, top and bottom. Put them back into the barbecue. Now light the Burners and turn to Low for 15-20 minutes. Hints while cooking Flare-up control: Flare-ups are sudden bursts of flame that come up over the top of the grill. They are caused by natural cooking juices from your food falling onto the flame tamer and burning. A little bit of flare-up, as well as the resulting smoke, is a good thing. It s what gives your barbecue food that unique outdoor flavour. But if it happens too often, or if the flame lasts more than a couple of seconds, your food will Char, so you need to control it. If excess flare-up occurs it could mean either you have too much fat on your meat (trim meat before hand to avoid this) and/or the burners are turned up too high. Finally moving the meat away from the flaring will help reduce the problem. Keeping your food moist: It s easy to keep your food moist and succulent on a barbecue by following these guidelines. Use tongs instead of a fork when turning meat and poultry. A fork pierces the flesh and causes the juice to seep out. Resist the temptation to keep turning meat over. Juices tend to rise to the top of a piece of meat and then settle. Each time you turn the meat on each side (about half a minute) then with the burners down near low, leave the meat to cook on one side at a time, turning once only before serving. Maintenance Cleaning your barbecue Your barbecue will look better and last longer if you keep it clean. You can do this by following these simple steps. The cooking surfaces. While the cooking surfaces are still hot, take a long handled brass brush and remove any remaining oil and food scraps. A Scraper can be used on non-porcelain coated grills. You should use an oven mitt to avoid burning yourself. DO NOT use a scraper on any porcelain enamelled grill. The Burners. Occasionally the burner holes may get clogged with fat, marinades or food particles, leaving the burners for a maximum of 5 minutes after you ve finished cooking will remove most of this. However, you should check the burners periodically for any sort of blockage. To do this, let them cool down, then use a wire brush to unclog the holes. Check your burners for insects and nests. Clogged or obstructed venturis (throats of the burner) can lead to a fire underneath. The barbecue frame. Fat can build up around the sides and under the rim of the barbecue frame. Simply clean it off with hot water and detergent. Do not use oven cleaner as this will damage the surface coating. The fat tray. You will have marinades, food particles, etc.. That are going to fall through the grill, flame tamer and finally into the fat tray. Therefore this should also be cleaned after each use. FAT FIRES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY 10
