28 28 Monday, July 9, 2018 Skippers & Volunteers Report by 12 Noon *Children will be arriving at 12:30PM and depart by 4:00PM* Every year boat rides and entertaining experiences have been delivered to hundreds of deserving children and their families. These are children with physical, chronic and life-threatening conditions who might otherwise never get to experience such a day on the water. Supported by the community, the Erie Yacht Club hosts Frolic on the Bay. Among organizations invited to participate are The Achievement Center, Make a Wish Foundation, Mercy Center for Women, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The good skippers volunteer themselves and their boats so these children enjoy the special attention of an honored guest. Through the generosity of too many people to mention the children and their families enjoy lunch on-board as well as fun shore-side activities after their boat ride. EYC volunteers coordinate everything so the children enjoy smooth sailing all day. After the children depart, the skippers and volunteers relax during a well-earned cook-out with all the trimmings.
