New Orleans City / Katrina Tour A licensed tour guide will escort you on a history tour of New Orleans. The tour will include the Garden District where large, elegant mansions with exemplifying styles were built, including Greek Revival, Italianate and Queen Anne Victorians. You will go down St. Charles Avenue along the street cars where two of the most prestigious colleges in New Orleans are located; Tulane University and Loyola University. You will also pass by Audubon Park, which is a 400-acre park located in uptown New Orleans between St. Charles Avenue and the Mississippi River, near Tulane University, built on the site of the 1884 World s Fair. City Park is another area you will enjoy during your tour. At 1,300 acres, it is one of the largest urban parks in the country. The first parcel of land was acquired in 1854, making it one of the country s oldest parks. You will enjoy a history of New Orleans including the first settlers, religion, culture, and of course, Mardi Gras. Stop along the way in an area devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Day Three Sunday, 28 July 2013 Enjoy a continental breakfast at the hotel located in Astor Ballroom III 2 nd floor 9 a.m. Church Service for those wishing to stay located in Astor Ballroom III Check out time is 11:00 a.m. ADDITIONAL NOTES Reservations may be made beginning 1 August 2012 by contacting the Louisiana Travel Services at 1-866-655-1889, M F 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. If you plan to fly to New Orleans, you will fly into MSY airport which is approximately 12 miles away. If you decide to come early, the cost of your room will be $109 plus tax for a total of $125.17 per day for the extra days. You can get breakfast vouchers on the days prior to the reunion weekend for $22 per person. If you are staying at another hotel or with friends in the city, individual adult banquet dinner tickets are available at $79.00 per person and must be purchased through Louisiana Travel Services. You will not be able to purchase tickets at the hotel or at the banquet dinner. If you need a refrigerator in your room, let them know when you make your reservation. However, there is a charge for all refrigerators. Street car stop outside of the hotel. You can purchase tickets for the street car at a kiosk near the stop. You will be given a map of the area upon arrival at the hotel. This map will provide you with the following information: entertainment, dining, shops & services, museums & exhibits and street car routes. Available Tours: antebellum homes, church tours, other river boat tours, swamp tours, cemetery tours and more can be arranged through Louisiana Travel Services when you make your hotel reservation. Alcoholic beverages are allowed only in your room and nowhere else in the hotel this includes the hospitality room and the pool area. It is suggested when making your reservation do not use a debit card. If you use a debit card, the money is pulled from your account right away and will not be released till the bank says it is ok. So, it is best to use a credit card instead. Small working dogs permitted at hotel with a non-refundable $150 cleaning fee (normally no dogs are allowed, they are making this exception for us, but they do include the cleaning fee). Parking: Valet parking at $31.60 per night. There is no street parking in the immediate area of the hotel and all parking facilities are owned by private entities and normally costs $20 for 12 hours making that $40 for 24 hours. The hotel parking facility is secure, many parking facilities are not secure. Internet service: available at $9.95 per day in your room or free if you use your computer in the main lobby.
