A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Dr. Steve Wickham & the Beef Committee for their assistance with Weigh In! Fairbook Ad Campaign Thank you to those of you who brought in Fair Ads early! We will be taking ads until January 15 th! Ads that come in after January 15 th will be printed in the fairbook and will be turned over to a new club next year and your club will not receive commission for that advertisement. Advertisements will not be accepted after February 1st. The fairbook is going to print early again this year. Soup Supper is January 23 th ALL HANDS ON DECK! Mark your calendar! The Soup Supper fundraiser is only one month away! This county-wide event raises funds for the $30-per-member State 4-H Fee payable each year. 4-H families are highly encouraged to sell tickets, and clubs donate homemade food and items for the auction. Clubs also are responsible for helping at the supper. Clubs are assigned responsibilities each year. Ticket packets and additional details were mailed to all 4-H families on December 15th. Club responsibilities were included in the mailing! Ticket money is due back to the office before or on January 15 th. Youth will have ONE month to sell tickets. All families are encouraged to take part in this fundraiser for the Henry County 4-H program. (If you are receiving this email, but did not receive tickets to sell for the soup supper it is because your status in 4-H online was or is currently inactive - when tickets were mailed in December. HENRY COUNTY 4-H SOUP SUPPER & AUCTION Saturday, January 23, 2016 Serving from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Manning Hall, St. Alphonsus Church Mt. Pleasant All tickets - $7.00 3 years of age and under are free Price includes choice of soup, sandwich, dessert and drink Member and Club Responsibilities: Each 4-H family is receiving one sheet of 10 soup supper tickets to cut apart and sell. Tickets are $7 each. Money must be turned into the Extension Office or club leader by January 15th. Additional tickets available from the Extension Office, 127 North Main, Mt Pleasant, 319/385-8126. (All ticket proceeds go to offset the cost of the $30 membership fee required by the state 4-H Office for each 4-H member.) Members are also encouraged to assist their club in the soup supper club responsibilities attached in this mailing. We ask that all families attending the supper to please purchase tickets. Each 4-H club is to provide the following home baked desserts for the supper: 4 pies 1 cake or dessert bars 3 refrigerated desserts Each club is also asked to provide at least one specialty food item for the auction. Examples: cheesecake, pecan pie, layer or angel food cake, yeast or quick breads/rolls, homemade candy, nuts, etc. Desserts and food donations need to be at Manning Hall by 2 p.m. on January 23rd. Each 4-H Club is to provide items for the auction equal in value to $2-$3 per club member (10 members x $3= $30 value item). The item needs to be brought to Manning Hall between 2-3 p.m. on January 23rd. Some suggested items include: Coupon for service work by club members (i.e. painting, yard work, washing windows, etc) or for products produced by club. (i.e. sweet corn, firewood, etc.) Handmade item such as a wood shelf or picture frame, birdhouse or feeder, unique crafted item, any homemade non-perishable items. Collectable item, artwork, tools, tickets for events, coupons for "mini-vacations", etc. Additional donations from families or businesses for the auction are welcome!! (i.e. item for the home/farm, coupon for garden produce or a service, white elephant item.) USE YOUR IMAGINATION BE CREATIVE! Henry County 4-H Soup Supper January 23, 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Club Responsibilities Advertising, Promotion & Thank you Recognition 3 weeks prior to supper: Set up and carry out Breakfast Club with KILJ. Club will put up posters in towns/locations around Henry County. Contact area businesses for auction donation items. Extension Office will prepare event details and posters. 1-2 weeks following supper--send thank you notes to all who donated, it is your club responsibility to keep track of the donations that will be made. (3-4 adults, 4-5 members) 1. Triple C Set-up 10:00 a.m. Set up tables, chairs, drink and dessert tables, and prepare soup and sandwiches. Also, put salt, pepper, cream & sugars on dining tables following set up (3-4 adults, 5-6 members) 1. Henry County Teen Council 2. Cooking Club 101 Table Decorations & Kitchen 2:30-3:30 p.m. Decorate tables with centerpieces that your club makes by hand or purchases ahead of time for the supper. (Ideas can be a 4-H trivia game or 4-H clover garlands, etc. Assist in kitchen with assembling sandwiches, relish trays, etc. (2-3 adults, 4-5 members) 1. Jackson Juniors Drink & Dessert Tables 3:00-7:00 p.m. Organize desserts, set up and replenish drinks and desserts on respective tables in serving area. Clean Up all Dishes, serving utensils, and last shift mops dessert cutting area floor (2-3 adults, 5-6 members) 1. Wayne Soil Savers from 3:00-5:30PM 2. Outdoor Club from 5:30-7:00PM Cashiers 3:30-7:30 p.m. Take in money and tickets at the door. Following supper, help organize and sell left-over soup & other food items from the kitchen. (2-3 adults, 2-3 members) 2. New London Lassies and Lads Table Service 3:30-7:00 p.m. Hand out trays, silverware, relishes & sandwiches. (2-3 adults, 2-3 members) 1. New London Pioneers from 3:30-7:00PM

Club Responsibilities continued Waiting and Cleaning Tables 4:00-8:00 p.m. Replenish drinks and other items at the dining tables. Assist in removing dishes & disposable trash from tables. Empty trash cans throughout the shift. Immediately following supper, remove all items from the dining tables. Remove dishes and disposable trash at the dining tables after people are through eating. Carry items to be washed to kitchen. Wipe off tables. (2-3 adults, 6-7 members) 1. Silver Spurs from 4:00-6:00PM 2. Scott Sodbusters from 6:00PM-8:00PM Dishwashers 4:00-8:00 p.m. Scrape and wash dishes, wipe trays, assist in kitchen clean-up following supper. (2-3 adults, 5-6 members) 1. Jefferson Juniors from 4:00-6:00PM 2. 4-H Wizards from 6:00-8:00PM Auction and Raffle--2:00 p.m. Set up auction area and items prior to supper. 6:00 p.m. assist and clerk auction. (3-4 adults, 4-5 members) 1. Sunshiners: Set up auction item area, display auction item cards, and assist with auction monies. 2. Sharp Shooters: Assist Sunshiner s Club with displaying items to crowd during the auction. (Sharp Shooters must be in place no later than 6:15pm to assist Sunshiners.) Tear Down 8:00-??? Following supper & auction. Put tables and chairs away, sweep floor and mop all areas if necessary. (2-3 adults, 5-6 members) 1. Baltimore Barn Busters 2.
