Imara African Coffee Company Profile

About Us At Imara African Coffee we ensure you receive the knowledge and products necessary to succeed in the competitive and growing coffee industry. Imara African Coffee was launched on the 15th March 2015 and is one of the premier specialty commercial coffee roasters in Uganda with a passion of having the best quality. We have an incredible staff of skilled and knowledgeable employees who work with us diligently to make sure we do everything in our power to meet your needs. Outstanding Coffee: We buy the finest organic grade specialty coffees from Bulago, the slopes of Mt Elgon, Kasese, slopes of Mt Rwenzori and The Albertine Region. These coffees are cupped and re-cupped throughout the purchasing, roasting, and packaging process to ensure that you are always getting the best quality possible. Competitive Pricing: We take every precaution to ensure our pricing is competitive and as stable as market conditions will allow. We believe strongly that great coffee still needs to be competitively priced so independent coffee shop owners and specialty retailers can sustain their businesses long term. 1

Our Story Community At Imara, we have embarked on organizing the farmers into producer groups and helping them come up with development programs combined with training them to produce quality Organic Arabica coffees that would ensure a better return on their harvest. Over the years African farmers (Ugandan in particular) have produced quality coffee of which they do not consume because value addition is an expensive and tedious (in their minds) process. Imara African coffee decided to address this by setting up a roasting and packaging facility in Kampala to process the coffee in Uganda where it is grown, which allows the company to retain a greater proportion of the value addition thereby enabling us support the farmers and empower their communities. How do we do this? Imara African Coffee invests 30% of its profits in the growers and their communities. 10 Credit Cooperatives in 17 sub-counties of Mbale District in Eastern Uganda have been established to gain from this program. Through this funding, some farmers have been able to buy their own coffee hurlers. This has increased their independence and profitability. The overall outcome is the farmers have built sustainable businesses they can depend on, businesses that are growing and will continue to grow with us to build better communities and exist in a more responsible way. As part of reaching out to the communities on a more personal level, we have embarked on supporting a large number of children orphaned whose famer parents lost their lives to HIV/AIDS. We try to be in touch with these communities on a wholesome level. We feel great about our coffee but we feel even greater about the farmers because we believe we can t have one without the other. 2

Mission Our Mission To set and maintain the highest standards of quality and ethics in everything we do To provide perfect, delicious coffee products and excellent, reliable services to our customers To earn the trust of our customers, employees, partners and our community and to contribute to good development and prosperity To inspire and to connect people Our Vision To be established and trusted as the perfect coffee business partner To be a leader in innovation, service and quality To be the leader in our markets Our Values Honesty, Integrity, Reliability, Excellence To be open minded, to listen, to care and to be pro-active To be innovative and pragmatic 3
