The collection is simple yet functional and comfortable to use. Story Behind the Kyusu Teapot Sencha is a type of green tea that is widely enjoyed in Japan. In preparing a delicious cup, one of the keys is the way of "pouring" which is closely tied to the design of the teapot handle. The position and shape of the handle affect the ease and beauty of movement when pouring. "Kyusu" is a term that refers to Japanese teapots, and the side handled type is said to have originated from people's lifestlye in traditional Japanese rooms. Tea preparation along with eating, sleeping, and many other daily activities stayed within reach from sitting position on the floor. The side handled teapot allowed easy pouring with just one hand by holding the handle, placing your thumb on the lid, and tilting your wrist. Due to the complex production process and changes in tea culture, lately the side handled kyusu teapot is not seen as much. Still, it is appreciated by users for sensibly minimizing movement when pouring. DESIGNER Kosei Shirotani From 1991, worked at a design office in Milan.
