An introduction Welcome to Darjeeling - Park Gate Tandoori, situated in the old station masters house (built in 1888 at Swanwick station) which was at one time the centre of the English strawberry trade, boasting one of the longest platforms in the country for the purpose of loading the widely loved berry onto trains which would then transport them all over the country several weeks before anywhere else could produce the fruit, thanks to Hampshire s unique micro climate. Let us take you on a journey through food, recreating the romance of Anglo-Indian rail travel at the height of its popularity during the late 1800 s.
