The first Mexican Organic Cotton Candy Grapes are set to arrive after Memorial Day, though prices are not yet promotable. Get ready for this seasonal treat! The first California Organic Yellow Peaches and Nectarines are available and sizes should get larger going into June. South Carolina Organic Peaches and California White Donut Peaches are available and good supplies are expected! Organic Raspberries and Blackberries are now in excellent supply with promotional opportunities available. Organic Blueberries are running late! Driscoll s Organic Blueberries have firmed up, but better supplies are on the horizon and some pints will start to reappear. Other brands of California Organic Blueberries are starting to ramp up in supply. Expect prices to come down and supplies to be steadier for June. The season has gotten off to a very slow start in terms of harvest, however Mexican Organic Green, Red, and Black Grape supplies continue to improve. Some California fruit is expected to begin in June.

MaY 25 - JUNE 1, 2018 MARKET NEWS 21 18 FOUR SEASONS PRODUCE OG CELERY OG PINEAPPLES OG KALE Organic Celery quality was better this week, with a few bug related issues. Prices have softened a little, but the big drop will come directly after Memorial Day. Oxnard shippers are still not up to speed on volume at this time. Organic Pineapple supplies are steady. Quality has been very nice! 6ct fruit from Dole and 8ct in the Purity label will be available next week! Organic Kale is in good supply out of Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, and California. All varieties are available at steady pricing. Local PA Organic Kale will start in early June. Organic Celery Hearts are in good supply from CA. OG MANGOS OG PEPPERS OG MELONS Organic Tommy Atkins and Ataulfo Mangos should remain steady for the time being, but hot weather and transition in growing regions could make things a little dicey over the coming weeks. Growers in the new growing regions are seeing a flush in smaller (12s) sized fruit right now. Organic Red, Yellow, and Orange Peppers from Holland are all in good supply. Pricing is steady. Mexican Organic Cantaloupes have virtually finished for the season and California is not quite ready. We will see a small gap this week and supplies of California fruit should begin in early June. OG BROCCOLI og apples OG CUCUMBERS Increasing supplies of Organic Broccoli and Broccoli Crowns have led to price reductions loading this week. Quality has been very good. Next week, prices will become promotable for the start of June Organic Gala, Granny Smith, and Fuji Apples are now in good supply out of Argentina, Chile, and New Zealand. Organic Cucumbers are in decent supply this week out of Mexico, with prices moving up slightly. Georgia product is increasing in volume and pricing has moved down. Washington storage crop Organic Honeycrisp Apples will finish for the season before the beginning of June. Organic Hothouse Cucumbers are abundant out of Mexico. Local Organic Broccoli out of PA should start in early June. Desert production has begun on Organic Green Peppers, in California though supplies are limited. Organic Honeydew and Mixed Melons should follow suit a couple of days behind the cantaloupes.

Georgia growers report adequate supplies of Organic Zucchini and more limited on Organic Yellow Squash. Organic Baby Spinach, Arugula, and Kale continue to make a comeback and by the end of next week we should be almost completely back to normal with supplies. OG HASS AVOCADOS OG TOMATOES OG LETTUCE Organic Hass Avocados from Mexico should remain steady for at least the next couple of weeks. California will be steady as well. Pricing is the field has been up just a bit. Mexico shippers have adequate supplies of 15lb Organic Hothouse Tomatoes and 2-Layer Tomatoes are available as well. Organic Green Leaf Lettuce is limited this week. Organic Red Leaf and Romaine Lettuce continue out of GA. OKE s Equal Exchange program has developed a new Fair Trade Organic program in Peru. This will extend the program through June and July! We will be working with our ripening teams to pre-condition and start the ripening process. Peru Avocados tend to be more stubborn to ripen, especially at the beginning of the season. This will help you the retailer, and give the consumer a much better Peruvian Avocado experience! Fruit is sizing small at the beginning of the season, so 60ct fruit will be where the volume is! Look for these to be available after Memorial Day. ALERT! Prices on Organic Grape Tomatoes out of Florida and Mexico moved up this week. Supplies are fairly tight out of the southeast. N Conventional outlook May 25 - JUNE 1, 2018 N www.fsproduce.com 25 lb peach season is here! South Carolina is finally underway with Peaches! 2 ½ and 2 ¾ are available for the Memorial Day weekend. Pricing is strong as volume is still low with growers not picking every day. There should be enough volume for retailers to fill their counters, but we may see some small gaps in supply until early June. California continues to pick up volume and size on Yellow and White Peaches. White Donut Peaches will be in season right after Memorial Day. CV NECTARINES CV GRAPES CV BERRIES More shippers are getting started on Yellow Nectarines and availability is increasing. We are seeing better size and very good color. As the Mexican Grape gradually ramps up, prices are starting to drop. We are seeing better size on the Flames and better varieties on the Green Seedless, with Sweeties, Sugarones, and Primes. Good supplies of Strawberries will continue this week. Keep promoting! White Nectarines have started and will be here for early June. Cotton Candy and Sweet Globe Grapes are starting soon! The Cotton Candy should be here for the beginning of June in small volume, and Sweet Globes (large, crisp, round green seedless) in early June. Georgia and North Carolina will see slightly better volumes of Blueberries come in this week. California fruit will also see an increase in supplies. Prices will be steady to start the week. The pipeline will take a few days to refill.

MaY 25 - JUNE 1, 2018 MARKET NEWS 21 18 FOUR SEASONS PRODUCE CV PEPPERS CV SWEET CORN CV SWEET ONIONS A few Georgia growers have started on Bell Peppers, with the majority starting this weekend. Promotable volumes out of Georgia are expected by the second week of June. The Florida Sweet Corn deal is wrapping up this week. Despite heavy daily rain, availability is hanging in there and quality remains excellent on Bi-color, White, and Yellow. In Canada, Hothouse Pepper growers report tighter supplies this week as replanting continues. We will move into Georgia Sweet Corn the beginning of June. Vidalia Sweet Onions will likely see prices increase in the next couple weeks as a large amount of rain may push shippers into storage onions sooner than anticipated. This brings more cost to the onions and growers typically command a premium for storage Vidalia Onions. Check out the Chocolate Bell Pepper (code: 207670) from Zing! to shake up your pepper set! PA Simply Sweet Onions are expected to start in early July. CV BROCCOLI CV ARTICHOKES CV DAIKON RADISHES Broccoli supplies will remain limited from the east and west coasts to start the week. Look for better numbers after Memorial Day. Artichokes are in good supply and prices are promotable this week on a range of sizes. Daikon Radishes are back in stock! We have beautiful product from Burch Farms in North Carolina. Check out the jumbo 12 ct for early June promos! CV ASPARAGUS CV ICEBERG LETTUCE CV GREEN BEANS Promote Asparagus! New Jersey, Michigan, Peru, and Central Mexico will all be in good supply this week. Look to promote Iceberg Lettuce this week. Supplies will be good and pricing has adjusted. The Georgia Green Bean deal has started. Rain has hampered harvests, reducing availability. Pricing could edge higher this week if rain continues.

MaY 25 - JUNE 1, 2018 MARKET NEWS 21 18 FOUR SEASONS PRODUCE CV ONIONS CV POTATOES The Yellow Onion market remains depressed as supplies exceed demand. Growers are trying to move as much volume as possible until New Mexico growers contribute additional supplies in two weeks and prices continue to weaken. The Red Potato market remains steady across the regions. A rain/holiday market might be felt next week from Florida. Storage crop supplies are still available out of Washington and new crop Yellow Onions are available out of California, Texas, and Georgia. Supplies of storage crop Yellow Potatoes are limited. New crop Yellow Potatoes are shipping from California and Florida. Growers from Florida and California have new crop White Potatoes available. Demand remains seems strong. Russet Potatoes are available in all shipping areas; however, some regions are seeing a tightening in supply. Carton pricing appears to be inching forward as inventories continue to shrink on that size. CV APRICOTS Apricots are now in season from California. Specialty varieties are also available, but for a limited time only. "Red Velvet" Apricots arrive after Memorial Day, followed by "Black Velvet" Apricots during early June for a quick seasonal appearance. Crimson Rose Apriums and early Pluots get started this week!
