Principal s Message Hi Everybody! We saw so many sweet, excited students and parents at Open House. Thank you for taking part, and for being involved members of our school community! After a rest for Labor Day, we head into a solid six weeks of learning before the first quarter ends. During that time, we will gather detailed information about your student s abilities with our iready diagostics, to better guide their individual learning. We will present our School Improvement Plan to our School Advisory Council on Sept. 19 th. We will also send our donations and our hearts to Houston, where families have lost so much. Their ongoing struggles remind me to be grateful for every single thing: for professional and loving teachers, for bright and eager students, for caring and supportive parents, and for a beautiful 44- acre campus with solid facilities. Feeling so grateful Your Principal, Caty Van Housen 610 A1A North, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082 Rawlings (904) 547-8570 PVPV (904) 547-3820

General Reminders Please note that students cannot be dropped off before 8:10 unless they are eating breakfast. If they are eating breakfast, they can be dropped off at 8:00 and are welcome to go to the cafeteria. If your child is absent, please go to the school website and utilize the attendance link or send a note when he or she returns to school. Please do not call the front office. If your child attends ACE, please notify Lynda Wing. For the safety of our students, please do not talk or text while in the car line. It is important that we have your undivided attention! Also, please use the designated crosswalk. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance. This is a friendly reminder that only service animals are permitted on the PVPV/Rawlings campus. Please have your name tag displayed in your window, in the car pick up line. All visitors to school (whether you are eating lunch with your child in the cafeteria, chaperoning a field trip, working the book fair, or volunteering in the classroom) must complete the School Access Form. This is required at all St. Johns County School District facilities. Please take a few minutes and complete the application on https://stjohns.keepntrack.com/apply/ Extended Day News PARENTS: It is imperative that you call or email the Extended Day Coordinator when your child will not be attending aftercare. The special education program at PVPV/Rawlings has been granted 3 ipads as a part of their iheal grant program. We are grateful for the support from the HEAL Foundation here at our school. Thanks to a generous monetary donation from Dream Finders Homes, along with support from The Home Depot of Jacksonville Beach, Ponte Vedra Staging and parents, the PTO was able to welcome our teachers and staff back to school with two beautifully upgraded break rooms. Thank you Dream Finders Homes and all those who made it possible! Some of our Kindergarten classes on their first day of school!

The PVPV/Rawlings PTO is here to help bridge the gap in funding for items and services that are not included in the school budget. Our school depends upon PVPV/Rawlings PTO as a major source of financial support. We have many different levels of support from Green Sea Turtle to Platinum Sea Turtle! Any level of support is appreciated. Please tell your friends about PVPV/Rawlings PTO. Thank you for supporting our beloved school as part of the PTO family! Did you join PTO? Are you receiving our weekly email newsletter, The Current? If not, please contact our Membership Chair, Catherine Finnemore, pvpvrawlingsptomembership@gmail.com Please consider signing up in your child's classroom to be the CAAP (Children's Access to Art Program) representative. You do not need to be an artist or have an art history background to volunteer for this position. It's a great way to get into the classroom, and to meet and interact with the kids in your child's class. If you are interested in volunteering, please let your child's teacher know. The CAAP training will take place on Wednesday, September 27, at 9:15 in the PVPV auditorium for any volunteers who are new to CAAP. The training takes 30-45 minutes. If you have questions about CAAP, contact Lesley Sunas at lesleysunas@yahoo.com. Please keep in mind that you must be cleared as a volunteer through St. Johns County to participate in classroom activities.

SAVE THE DATE! The Fall Book Fair Presented by PTO and Fishman Pediatric Dentistry will be held on Thursday November 2nd-Thursday November 9th on the Rawlings Stage. This is a great opportunity to encourage the love of reading in our children and help build our media center and classroom libraries. It s also a great way to tackle some holiday shopping lists! Please contact Laurie Berger at discoverthebalance@yahoo.com if you would like to volunteer. More information regarding class times and hours will be sent out closer to the Fair. Hope to see you there! Coastal Luxury Outdoors and PVPV/Rawlings PTO Present... THE TURTLE TROT FUND RUN The PTO is excited to announce that the 7th annual Turtle Trot Fund Run will take place on October 12th! It's that time of year again...when we all pitch in to support The Turtle Trot Fund Run. This is the only school sponsored fundraiser that encourages both physical fitness and support for our school. It teaches students teamwork and community engagement. 100% of the proceeds... every dollar...every penny... raised by our students, will be used to support our school and to benefit our children! Please help your child collect funds to ensure this annual event is a success! An information packet will be sent home with your student following a pep rally on September 28th. Interested in volunteering for this year s FUNd-raising event? Volunteer sign-up sheets will be available during Meet the Teacher as well as your Classroom Liaison for the Turtle Trot. If you should have any questions, please reach out to Mel Intemann at 12ktts12@gmail.com. For now, please keep these important dates in mind:: - September 28th: Pep Rally (Students only) - September 28th- October 5th: Students collect funds from friends and family - October 12th: Turtle Trot Fund Run (Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend!) We thank you in advance for your commitment and continued support!

The PVPV/Rawlings PTO would like to extend a super Sea Turtle thank you to our amazing Community Partners for the 2017-18 school year. We are excited to welcome our newest partner, The Goddard School! Thank you for all you do to support our school!
