Nothing compares to homegrown, tree-ripened fruit, and fruit trees are one of our specialties! We carry early, mid-season, and late season varieties in each fruit category. Try the Backyard Orchard Culture technique of planting multiple trees (an early, a mid, and a late variety) in one hole, and enjoy a summer-long harvest! Look for the color codes (green/pink/ tan = early/mid/late). These fruit trees arrive each January. The following varieties are expected for 2011. Please call for current availability. APRIUMS, PLUOTS, These fruits are complex hybrids of apricots, and plums. The complex, intense flavor of both the Aprium and the Pluot is unique to interspecifics, much like a blend of fruit juices where the mixture is an improvement over any of the separate ingredients. Additionally, the sugar content of interspecifics is much higher than in standard plums or apricots, yielding fruit of incomparable sweetness. Dave Wilson Nursery FLAVOR DELIGHT APRIUM Apricot plum hybrid. Resembles an apricot, but with a distinctive flavor and texture all its own. High scoring in taste tests. One of the most flavorful early season fruits. Chilling <300 hours. Self fruitful, but biggest crops if pollinated by any apricot. FLAVOR QUEEN PLUOT Exquisite plum/apricot hybrid with candy-like sweet, wonderfully pleasing flavor. Greenish-yellow skin, amber-orange flesh. Pollenized by Dapple Dandy or Flavor Supreme Pluot or by a Japanese plum such as Burgundy. Not pollenized by Flavor King Pluot 400-500 hours APPLES ANNA Heavy crops of sweet, crisp, flavorful apples. Yellow skinned blushed with red. An excellent variety for mild winter areas. Good fresh or cooked. Chilling <200 hours. Self fruitful, or use Golden Dorsett for bigger crops. PINK LADY Very crisp, sweet tart, distinct flavor, good keeper. Skin reddish pink over green when ripe. White flesh resists browning. Self Fruitful, 300-400 hours. SUNDOWNER Sundowner has a sweet, crispy, white flesh and excellent flavor. Considered a late harvest variety ripening from October well into winter in most areas. Does well under extreme fruit growing conditions such as southern fruit growing districts and deserts with little or no damage to the fruit. Self Fruitful, 200-300 hours APRICOTS Early June Late July- Aug July Oct- Nov Oct- Nov 1 Pictures courtesy of Dave Wilson Nursery Ganter Nursery 2017
