Operating your Multi Cooker Congratulations on your purchase of this Multi Cooker. This is the ultimate kitchen aid with six different applications: steaming, grilling, roasting, flash frying, slow cooking and sautéing. It is now possible to prepare the most delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers, even soups, and stews in so many ways. GETTING STARTED Before first use: Unpack the appliance and all accessories from the packaging. Remove all paper packaging and foil. Unpack the power base unit. Check that there is no packaging, paper, etc. left between the inner pan and the power base unit. Clean the inner pan with a damp sponge and some dishwashing liquid. Place the inner pan on the power base unit, so that the four protruding legs of the inner pan stand in the corresponding openings of the base unit. Before you begin using the Multi Cooker first clean the base unit, the steam rack, the frying basket, the fondue forks, the lid and the inner pan with a soft cloth and sudsy water. Rinse and dry well. Never submerge the base unit in water - this can cause personal injuries or damage the device. Settings: The control knob has several temperature/ function settings: OFF, WARM, SLOW COOK (STEAM), SAUTÉ/GRILL, ROAST, FLASH FRY. The temperature is adjustable from 60 C (lowest temperature) to 190 C (highest temperature. Use the guide below as a reference for which function to select when using a conventional recipe to prepare food in your Multi Cooker: Function Conventional Recipe Warm: 80 Slow cook: 120 Sauté/Grill: 180 Flash fry: 200 Roast: 240 NOTE: The Multi Cooker features a red thermostat indicator light that is located under the control knob. The light will turn off when the desired temperature is reached. When the light is on, please wait until it turns off and the correct temperature is reached. You will notice that the light turns on and off when the thermostat holds the temperature. This is normal.

Operating your Multi Cooker WARM: Place your liquid or food in the inner non-stick pan and close the lid. Turn the control knob to WARM position. The indicator light turns on, then off when correct temperature is reached. Always set your Multi Cooker to OFF position and disconnect from mains power supply after cooking. SLOW COOK: Place your liquid or food (depending on the recipe) in the inner non-stick pan and close the lid. Turn the control knob to SLOW COOK position; the indicator light will turn on, then off when correct temperature is reached. To maintain heat and retain moisture during cooking, it is a good idea not to open lid during cooking. Always ensure there is plenty of liquid in the pan to cover the food. Always set your Multi Cooker to OFF position and disconnect from mains power supply after cooking. Check the recipes section for ideas to get you started. STEAM: Use the stackable steam rack for steaming. Place the rack in the inner pan. Add two cups of water (the water level must stay under the steam rack) and close the lid. Set the control knob to SLOW COOK position; the indicator light will turn on, then off when correct temperature is reached. To prevent excess moisture evaporation and temperature dropping, it is recommended not to open the lid during cooking. After finishing steaming carefully remove the hot steam rack from the inner pan. Always set your Multi Cooker to OFF position and disconnect from mains power supply after cooking. Check the recipes section for ideas to get you started. SAUTÉ/GRILL: Set the control knob to SAUTÉ/GRILL position; the indicator light will turn on, then off when correct temperature is reached. Put a small amount of cooking oil, butter or margarine into the inner pan. Sauté or grill food. Take the food from the inner pan when finished. Always set your Multi Cooker to OFF position and disconnect from mains power supply after cooking. Check the recipes section for ideas to get you started. ROAST: Place your ingredients in the inner pan. Set the control knob to ROAST position; the indicator light will turn on, then off when correct temperature is reached. After the appropriate time, check that your food is properly cooked. Take the food from the inner pan when finished. Always set your Multi Cooker to OFF position and disconnect from mains power supply after cooking. Check the recipes section for ideas to get you started.

Operating your Multi Cooker, continued FLASH FRY: Place oil into the inner pan up to the fill mark (2.54cm). Make sure not to fill above this mark. Set the control knob to FLASH FRY position; the indicator light will turn on, then off when correct temperature is reached. Place your ingredients in the frying basket (optional) and drop it in the oil. Do not fill the basket beyond the fill mark. Drain the food on kitchen paper. Always set your Multi Cooker to OFF position and disconnect from mains power supply after cooking. Check the recipes section for ideas to get you started. TROUBLESHOOTING The indicator light does not light up. Check whether the inner pan is properly inserted. Make sure the plug is properly plugged into the wall outlet. The temperature is too low or too high. Set the control knob correctly. Turn the button clockwise towards FLASH FRY for more heat and counter-clockwise towards WARM for less heat. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE: Do not submerge the base unit in water or other liquids; do not place it in the dishwasher. Let the multi cooker cool down completely before cleaning. Cleaning: Make sure that the power plug is disconnected at the wall outlet. Remove the lid and any other accessories. Wash the accessories in warm sudsy water. Remove hot oil from the inner pan before cleaning. Remove the inner pan from the device and remove remaining food and liquids, and let the pan cool down. Fill the inner pan with warm water and some detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaning products for the inner pan. Wipe the surface of the base unit with a damp sponge. Never use scouring pads or other abrasive products for cleaning. Maintenance: Ensure that the inner pan is completely dry before use. Never pour cold water into the inner pan, when the pan is hot. Do not use any steel wool or other abrasive agents for cleaning; this can damage the nonstick coating. Do not use metal utensils. Never submerge the base unit in water or other liquids. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Never add water to hot oil. SUPPORT AND TECHNICAL ADVICE North Shore City, Auckland, New Zealand Monday Friday 8am-5pm Phone: 0800 232 633 Website: www.goldair.co.nz
