NOVEMBER EVENTS AT THE INN ON BOURBON November 1, 2010: The New Orleans Lyceum Presents Interview With A Vampire What: FREE Screening of the movie, Interview With A Vampire (1994), starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Christian Slater. Presented by the not-for-profit New Orleans Lyceum The Inn On Bourbon s Salon de Gallier Monday, November 1, 2010 at 7:30 PM Why: In modern-day San Francisco, reporter Daniel Malloy (Christian Slater), interviews a man named Louis (Brad Pitt), who claims to be a vampire and tells the story of his past. The story begins in 1791, in a very dark, eerie, supernatural colonial New Orleans, and takes violent twists and

turns through a dark maze inhabited by the undead. Screenings of New Orleans-themed films take place at the Inn On Bourbon on the first Monday of every month. The series is made possible by the New Orleans Lyceum, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to adult learning. A discussion about The Anne Rice Phenomena will follow the movie and will be facilitated by Lyceum founder David O Donaghue, Psy.D. Established in 2003, the Lyceum consists of O Donaghue and a group of independent scholars, who teach, discuss and share various topics and themes with adult students throughout the area. Besides films, Lyceum programs include yoga, history, poetry, and philosophy. For more information, call David O Donaghue at 504.473.7194 or email neworleanslyceum@gmail.com. November 15, 2010: Philosophy Café, presented by the New Orleans Lyceum* *Media please note update: Topic of Philo Café is now included in this release. All other info remains the same. What: A two-hour group Philosophical discussion of a specific topic, facilitated by the not-for-profit New Orleans Lyceum The Inn On Bourbon s Café de l Opera Monday, November 15, 2010 at 7:30 PM Topic: Do We Share Too Much Online? A Philosophical Discussion About Privacy, Communications and How the Internet and Social Media Affect Our Lives.

Details: The New Orleans Lyceum, an organization dedicated to adult learning, will host a Philosophy Cafe or Philo Cafe at the Inn On Bourbon. A philosophy café is an opportunity to actually do philosophy in a fun conversational manner without reading heavy texts or listening to ponderous lectures. The goal of this discussion is not to come up with definitive solutions to philosophical quandaries but to demonstrate, by interaction, how complex and interesting concepts can be when they are applied specifically and generally. The tradition of philosophical conversation goes back to the ancient philosophers of Greece and maybe earlier. This tradition became famous again in the salons of the French Enlightenment of the 18 th Century and in Paris after the Second World War. Scheduled for the third Thursday of every month at the Inn On Bourbon, these 90 minute sessions will focus on a different topic each month. The Philo Cafes will be facilitated by Lyceum instructors and are open to any interested adults. For more information, call David O Donaghue at 504.473.7194 or email neworleanslyceum@gmail.com.
