ONE DAY FOUNDATION SKILLS This Full day workshop is built around Classic cookery. We aim to give you a taster of all our most popular master classes and give you the real skills for life. Part one will start off in the morning with a tour of our sustainable building and kitchen. Part two - an introduction to artisan bread making. Part three- our chef tutor will take you through a Knife skills workshop. You will then break for lunch and enjoy what you ve made. Part four- the second half of the day you ll get hands on with filleting your own fish, you ll smoke and pot this to take home. Finally, part five will be all about meat: preparing, buying, storing and cooking your own free range chicken. Introduction to cooking This foundation course is the perfect way for the aspiring cook to learn essential practical skills and gain confidence in the kitchen. Over ten informative and structured weeks, you ll watch detailed demonstrations delivered by passionate and experienced professional chefs, get hands-on with a broad range of foundation level skills and make from scratch a diverse array of simple and delicious dishes to build up your repertoire. In a small friendly group, we aim to take you up to a level where you feel confident to visit local butchers, fishmongers or farmers markets knowing what you can buy to make a fresh wholesome meal at home. We ll help you understand flavours, build your confidence with knife skills, teach you how to follow recipes, and give you essential hints and top tips on preparation, planning ahead, time management, and presentation.
