Winchester Model 1873 The Winchester Model 1873 was one of the most successful lever action rifles of the day, with Winchester marketing it as "The Gun that Won the West". It was originally chambered for the.44-40 cartridge, which was the first centrefire cartridge that became immensely popular. In all, over 720,000 Model 1873s rifles were produced up until 1923.

The actual history of the example being offered her today in not known. Research using the serial number shows it was manufactured in 1882. Winchester mass-produced this model of rifle making 25,000 of them in 1882 alone. The Winchester Lever Action rifle was also used by the North West Mounted Police and Canadian troops from 1873 to 1918. This rifle is in working condition and the purchaser needs to possess a valid Firearms Possession and Acquisition license (PAL). Deactivation is available at the buyer s expense. 9. Lee-Enfield Rifle Model #1 Mk3* This Lee Enfield is a bolt-action rifle that served as the main firearm for the British Empire and Commonwealth during the first half of the 20th century. It is chambered to fire the.303 cartridge that was inserted into a 10 round detachable box magazine. It was also loaded using Stripper clips that each contained 5 rounds. The WWI version is often referred to as the "SMLE," which is a short form for the common "Short Magazine Lee-Enfield" variant. The #1Mk 3 was issued to the QOR when they departed for Newfoundland in 1941. Early wartime Recruits learned their shooting skills using this model of Lee- Enfield. This example was made in England in 1916 and thousands of these rifles were sold after the war. This model served with the Canadian Army until they were re-issued with #4 Lee Enfield in 1942. The British continued to use this Lee Enfield variant up to 1957. This rifle is in working condition and the purchaser needs to possess a valid Firearms Possession and Acquisition license (PAL). Deactivation is available at the buyer s expense. 10. Lee-Enfield Rifle Model #4 Mk1

At the start of WW2, Canada needed more rifles to issue to Canadian troops. England s rifle production for the Commonwealth was overloaded although they kept up production to support these needs. Canada pushed England to produce rifles here in Canada and, in 1940, Canada was allowed to build a production facility to manufacture the new model of Lee Enfield rifle known as the #4 Mk1. This rifle was easier to manufacture than the #1Mk3. The story of the Long Branch (Etobicoke) production plant has a unique history as it took only 1.5 years from when approval was granted to when the first rifle came off the assembly line in June 1942. The rifle being presented here today was made in 1942 and was within the first batch of 1,900 rifles produced. The QOR used this model of rifle during the D-Day invasion and it was used up until it was replaced by the FNC1 semi-automatic rifle. This rifle is in working condition and the purchaser needs to possess a valid Firearms Possession and Acquisition license (PAL). Deactivation is available at the buyer s expense. 11. Alexander Muir The Maple Leaf Forever certified piece of the maple tree that inspired QOR rifleman Alexander Muir to pen The Maple Leaf Forever. Donated by the QOR WO and Sergeants Mess. 12. Composed exclusively of grapes sourced from Grands Crus Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards which were already under vine during Churchill's lifetime.
