The Tsantali family has been cultivating vineyards, making wines and distilling ouzo and tsipouro since 1890. Evangelos Tsantalis, second generation winemaker and one of the most charismatic figures in Greek winemaking history, has rendered the local family business into a rapidly developing brand name, always at the forefront of innovation. The rejuvenation of some of the most exquisite vineyards in Northern Greece like Mount Athos, Rapsani, Halkidiki and Maronia, is attributed to the family s vision; today outstanding traditions are safely kept, biodiversity and native grapes are preserved and incentive has been given to younger vine growers and winemakers. This long-standing heritage is carried on today by the third and fourth Tsantali generation. Mount Athos is situated in the easternmost leg of Halkidiki peninsula in Central Macedonia, Greece. The actual Mount Athos has steep, densely forested slopes reaching up to 2,033 metres (6,670 ft). Its highest point is like a huge cone, reaching 2,033 metres in height. Since 1926 Mount Athos, also known as Holy Mountain, is an autonomous polity of the Greek State enjoying a selfadministered system. It is the home of 20 Monasteries, 12 Sketes (small communities) and 700 Cells, while the population rises to 1,000 monks. Since 1988, Mount Athos is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The roots of vine growing and winemaking in Mt Athos are dated back to antiquity as various texts describe. It was in 1981 when the first ever Regional Wine of Greece (Vin De Pays) was recognized; that wine was Agioritikos coming from the Tsantali s vineyard in Mount Athos. Wines of Halkidiki Halkidiki has a rich history and mythology, with roots that stretch back to the remotest past. Since antiquity, the Halkidiki have been famed for the excellent quality wines they gave. The land of Halkidiki vineyards, situated on the uniquely hand shaped Halkidiki peninsula, is even mentioned in ancient scripts as an area of quality wine production. Thanks to the exceptional terroir of this area, along with our Halkidiki label wines we have also been able to create the most wonderful organic range. Selected grapes, ripen under the Greek sun without the use of harmful applications, have been carefully harvested and crafted into Klima Klima organic wine. Rapsani Mount Olympus Mount Olympus is the the highest mountain in Greece (elevation: 2,919 m /9,577 ft). It is located in the Olympus Range on the border between Thessaly and Macedonia. The highest peak Mytikas, meaning nose, is known as the Home of the Olympian Gods in ancient Greek Mythology. The southeastern slopes of Mount Olympus is the perfect nest for the picturesque village of Rapsani, home to a long line of vine growers. The very first mentions for the local thessalikon wine, good health and strength preparatory are traced in Theokritos, creator of ancient Greek bucolic poetry, in 300bC, while during Byzantine times viticulture is among the basic occupations of the locals. It was in the beginning of 1800s when Edward Daniel Clarke, an English naturalist, mineralogist and traveler, visited the area and described the local red wine as the best flavoured of any we tasted in Greece, while a few decades later, in 1840, Ami Boué, an Austrian pioneer geologist working on his Ethnographic Map of the Balkans, mentioned the region for its excellent vineyards. Almost a century later, in 1932, the fame of the Rapsani wine led the Greek state to officially recognize it as an Appellation wine. From 10 hectares of vineyards in 1991, today the total Tsantali Rapsani vineyards reach almost 90 hectares in total. The Tsantali family proudly carries on the Rapsani PDO legacy with a trilogy of wines. Rapsani, Rapsani Reserve and Rapsani Grande Reserve are among the most acclaimed wines of Greece worldwide. The elements that differentiate the wines of the trilogy are: the altitude of the vine parcels the maturation-ageing period. The blend in all wines according to Rapsani PDO legislation are the same: co-vinification of 1/3 equally Xinomavro, Krassato and Stavroto grapes. Philosophy With respect for Nature and Man, we create wines that reflect the terroirs and the grape varieties which spawned them. Domaine Hatzimichalis lies in Opountia Locris, a site in the valley of Atalanti in Central Greece. They have created a complex as well as unique viticulturally mosaic on 220 hectares of privately owned land. Soil, altitude, gradient, orientation, microclimate and the vines age and grape varieties are the factors behind the unique character of each of their terroirs. Domaine Hatzimichalis, since its establishment, in 1973, has its history is closely tied to the region of Atalanti in Central Greece. This choice was based on an ancient wine tradition, but mostly at its unique mesoklima. Today, the proprietary vineyard, planted with international and Greek varieties, reaches 220 hectares. Most of them lie on the slopes of the valley. This diversity enables the creation of a broad collection of wines with distinctive style, which fully express the unique terroir of the region. Domaine Hatzimichalis believes that wine is primarily connected to culture. With this principal it participates in cultural activities and contributes significantly to the study of the history of wine. OUR HISTORY Nico Lazaridi, never hid his love for the field of wine. His journey to the magical world of wine lasted more than two decades and led him, in 1997, to establish the Winery Château Nico Lazaridi. In a short while, his wines managed to become popular among the oenophiles inside and outside of Greece. In 2000, a new winery was created on Mount Pangeon in the Prefecture of Kavala: the Mackedon Winery. New labels of quality wines expand the company s horizons even more. Lazaridi wanted to create a modern product, able to represent His personal interest in visual arts is reflected in his wineries, where he introduces to the public contemporary Greek and foreign artists. The works of these important artists are also depicted on his wine labels. Through the co-existence of art and wine, they deliver the message that the wine is a product of love, respect and long-lasting effort. OUR WINERIES Mackedon Kavala Mackedon Winery is located in Pieria valley, on the hillside of Mount Pangeon. It is only a few kilometers away from Chateau Lazaridi in Drama, but sits on land renowned from ancient years for its fertile soil and climate. Its hillsides, protected by the surrounding mountains, and the waters of Marmara river offer great cultivation and production of grapes. The vineyard occupies approximately 8 hectares. It cultivates Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. NICO LAZARIDI produces the wine families of Lion d Or, Queen/King of Hearts and Black Sheep. All wines are labeled as Protected Geographical Indication Pangeon and Macedonia. Château Nico Lazaridi Drama Château Nico Lazaridi Winery and it s vineyards are located in one of the most renowned wine regions of northeast Macedonia, Pigadia and Andriani, occupying approximately 80 hectares. Some of the varieties cultivated here are Semillon, Chardonnay, and Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Rouge and Sangiovese. Wines produced here are Château Nico Lazaridi, the single -variety wine Merlot Nico Lazaridi, Magic Mountain and Perpetuus which are products of special aging. Recently, Lazaridi began vinifying the white semi-sparkling wine Solitaire here as well. All wines here are labeled as Protected Geographical Indication Drama and Agora. 13

The family owned Papaioannou Vineyards are located in Nemea and the chosen grape varieties are cultivated with the aim of achieving ultimate harmony with the eco system. Nemea PDO Nemea is the ancient Greeks flyasios oenos, a wine linked with the myth of Hercules whose cult was prevalent in the area. Nemea is also where Hercules sanctuary is to be found and it is no coincidence that lore refers to the wine of Nemea as Hercules blood. In earlier times Nemea s name was Agios Georgios, which is possibly why the variety is known as Agiorgitiko and the area is its main place of cultivation. Both terrain and climate conditions are highly diverse along the land the zone covers Located in the northeastern part of the Peloponnese, Nemea is mostly known as the home of the Nemean Lion, a mythical beast whose golden hair was impervious to human weapons and whose claws could cut through armor. As the first of Hercules s twelve labors that he must complete for King Eurystheus, he is instructed to travel to Nemea and slay the lion. When Hercules arrives he lures the lion to his lair and once cornered, strangles the beast with his bare hands. Philosophy From the first moment of its operation, Anastasia s Fragou winery ocuses on the cultivation and promotion of Savatiano, the historical white variety of Mesogaia, that through the beauty of its taste nurtured and raised many generations and of course the owners themselves, Anastasia Fragou and her husband Dionysis Fragou. 2016 2016 Malagouzia "Neilis" 2016 Malagouzia 12/750mL (FRAG11) History Anastasia Fragou winery was established in 1986 by Constantine Frangos in Mesogaia, the most important region of Attica considering the vine, a region with a manifold winemaking history that is lost in the times of Ancient Greece. Originally, the winery had a more traditional form, with a wine press and concrete tanks, as the wine was designed and destined for being sold as bulk wine to the taverns of Athens and Mesogheia. Gradually, however,following the trend of the time with the "renaissance" of the Greek wine, the winery began to take another direction. In 1999 a huge leap was made, the infrastructure was modernized and the technological equipment was brought up to date. The winery directed its attention towards the production of quality bottled wine. It is the year that the winery passed from father to daughter, Anastasia Fragou. She joins forces with her husband Dionysis Fragou, also a winemaker and viticulturist, and together they begin to work towards a common vision. That means the utilization of the family vineyards, standardization of the wine and the elevation of the Savatiano variety to the protagonist of their land and trademark of their production. BAZIGOS 100% Robola of Kefalonia Robola is an increasingly rare, ungrafted, lowyielding variety that thrives on the poor limestone and gravelly soils of the Kefalonian highlands. Grown on the slopes of Mount Ainos in 500m and higher altitudes, it is considered one of the finest Greek white varieties, and has characteristic citrus and mineral aromas, accentuated by the delicate winemaking techniques used. MALAMATINA Retsina has a history going back thousands of years, and under the relevant legislation it has been included by the European Union in the category of wines of traditional designation, produced using traditional methods exclusively from Greek grapes, and only in Greece. The earliest recorded mention of using resin with wine amphorae is by the first-century Roman writer Columella! Malamatina has been making Retsina since 1860, and has been a family-owned and run company ever since. In 1957 they were the first one to bottle their product so it could reach all markets, near and far away. Today it can be found in more than 37 countries worldwide. Retsina Malamatina is produced exclusively from the Greek grape varieties of Savatiano and Rhoditis. The addition of a small amount of pine resin during fermentation provides the characteristic retsina flavour, while at the same time allowing the fruity aromas of these varietals to emerge.
