FRANCE & GERMANY NV Perrier Jouet Grand Brut Champagne ( 1-750 ml ) A crowd-pleaser, open-knit and lightly juicy, with a lively, frothy bead. Mixes white cherry, ripe apricot, pickled ginger and mineral notes, with a fresh, spiced finish. Drink now. Wine Spectator 91/100 1998 Château Tirecul La Gravière Cuvée Madame ( 2-500 ml ) A full-bodied, rich and elegant dessert white from southwest France. Packed with luscious and supple flavors of peach, stone, honey and spice, with a nice backbone of acidity. Drink now. Wine Spectator 92/100 2006 Bollig Lehnert Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Beerenauslese ( 5-375 ml ) Elegant and graceful, exhibiting lime, vanilla cream, piecrust and latent mineral aromas and flavors. This is defined by the vibrant structure, keeping it coursing through the finish. There's terrific harmony and length. Drink now through 2048. Wine Spectator 96/100 Reims & Monbazillac, France & Germany Lot 1 Above 8 Bottles Lot Value $ 1,425 CHILE 2010 Concha y Toro Cabernet Sauvignon Don Melchor Refined and elegant, with silky tannins behind the mineral, macerated cherry and damson plum flavors. Quite creamy, revealing hints of paprika and hoisin sauce. The long, lush finish is filled with notes of cocoa powder and dust. Drink now through 2020. Wine Spectator 95/100 Maipo, Chile Lot 2 Above 6 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,470

BURGUNDY 1978 Dom. Ponnelle Charmes Chambertin Les Mazoyeres ( 1 ) A big, juicy red, evoking cherry, currant, raspberry and spice flavors, all wrapped in a cloak of flesh. This firms up on the finish, with a dry, savory spice aftertaste. Wine Spectator 89/100 1978 Louis Latour Clos de Vougeot ( 1 ) Rich and beefy, with cherry and spice flavors permeating the flesh and getting support from a muscular structure. Finishes on the dry side, but stays long. Wine Spectator 88/100 1990 Camus Latricieres Chambertin ( 1 ) Not as intensely fruity as others in this group, but shows a generous amount of earthy, ripe berry aromas and flavors and medium tannins. Drink now. Wine Spectator 90/100 Burgundy, France Lot 3 Above 3 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,310 1996 Joseph Drouhin Clos de Mouches ( 2 ) Balanced and lush, this is truly pretty, and stands out in the Beaune appellation for its lovely harmony. Ripe and round, with redand blackberry character. Has a grip of wet earth and terroir on the palate, but the finish is a tad short. Wine Spectator 87/100 2011 Faiveley Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley ( 1 ) Lean, yet succulent and defined, sporting aromatic floral, cherry, strawberry and spice notes, accented by a touch of briar. The structure is firm and linear, with a tightly wound finish for now. Very elegant, this should come into its own in the next several years. Best from 2017 through 2028. Wine Spectator 93/100 Burgundy, France Lot 4 Above 3 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,120 1970 Pierre Damoy Chapelle Chambertin A medium-bodied, juicy red, with a clean, pure Pinot Noir aroma and nice raspberry, black cherry and wet earth. Good ripeness and supple tannins. Drink now. Wine Spectator 85/100 Burgundy, France Lot 5 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,500

2011 Domaine de la Romanée Conti Echezeaux Cherry and raspberry flavors are locked in the grip of stern tannins in this beefy red. One of the more backward wines of the vintage, with spice and mineral notes emerging on the finish. Be patient. Best from 2018 through 2032. Wine Spectator 94/100 Burgundy, France Lot 6 Above 1 Bottle ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,175 2010 Domaine de la Romanée Conti Richebourg A flattering style, delivering expressive aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry, joined by sandalwood and tobacco flavors, with a hint of licorice. The fleshy texture fills the mouth, offering a warm sensuousness while the finish expands. Best from 2017 through 2036. Wine Spectator 95/100 Burgundy, France Lot 7 Above 1 Bottle ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 3,750

CALIFORNIA 2005 Beaulieu Vineyards George de Latour Reserve ( 2 ) Raw and edgy in a good way, showing youthful acidity and tannins, highlighting a rich, intense core of blackberry and wild berry. Reveals touches of smoke and black licorice, along with a gravelly texture. Drink now. Wine Spectator 89/100 2005 Dominus Proprietary Red ( 1 ) Starts out rich, supple and polished before gaining tannic traction, letting the earthy clay, loamy currant and dried herb and sage notes show in a complex, focused fashion. Drink now. Wine Spectator 89/100 2008 Sine Qua Non B-20 ( 1 ) Fresh, rich and vibrant, with a medley of cranberry, spice, pepper, wild berry, blueberry and mineral notes. Full-bodied and supple in texture, ending with game meat and dried berry flavors supported by firm, spicy tannins. Drink now through 2020. Wine Spectator 93/100 2011 Shafer Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon ( 1 ) Openly rich and plush, with a dense core of mocha-laced blackberry, charry oak, subtle spice, hot brick and cedary, earthy notes, this hints at a rustic character and is edgy at points, yet the core intensity persists. Ends with drying tannins. Best from 2017 through 2027. Wine Spectator 93/100 Napa, California Lot 8 Above 5 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,398

1978 Diamond Creek Volcanic Hill Cabernet Sauvignon ( 1 ) Remains a dense, chewy, richly flavored wine, packed with earthy, leathery currant, spice and mineral flavors. Lingers long. Drink now. Wine Spectator 93/100 1984 Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ( 1 ) Mature, with complex currant, anise, dried plum and tar notes, it turns dry yet holds its fruit better than most, finishing with a persistent aftertaste that echoes mature Cabernet flavors. Drink now. Wine Spectator 86/100 1986 Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon ( 1 ) Mature, with complex herb, sage, cigar box and a dried cherry and currant edge. Firmly tannic, this offers more life and vitality than most in this tasting. Drink now. Wine Spectator 86/100 1986 Chateau St. Jean Cabernet Sauvignon ( 1 ) Rich and supple, with good extract, herb, currant and cherry flavors with a halo of toasty vanilla oak and a touch of mineral and spice on the finish. Wine Spectator 90/100 1990 Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir ( 1 ) Light, fresh and fruity, with lively cherry and strawberry flavors accented by sweet oak notes. Bracing acidity keeps the fruit bright. Wine Spectator 86/100 Sonoma & Napa, California Lot 9 Above 5 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,005 2005 Shafer Vineyards One Point Five ( 1 ) Rich, deep and complex, with a complex mix of fleshy currant, dried berry, anise, sage and mineral, framed by light cedary oak. Gains depth and complexity on the finish. Elegant and stylish. Drink now. Wine Spectator 92/100 2005 Stags Leap Wine Cellars Cask 23 ( 3 ) Offers a glimpse of ripe, fleshy currant and black cherry fruit before turning drier and herbal, ending with a touch of leather and spice. Best from 2010 through 2016. Wine Spectator 86/100 Napa, California Lot 10 Above 4 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,750

2008 Nickel & Nickel CC Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon ( 3 ) The initial push of rich dark berry fruit turns trim and spicy in this red, which is pleasant but loses intensity and depth on the finish. Drink now through 2018. Wine Spectator 85/100 2010 Quintessa Red Rutherford ( 3 ) Pure, rich and supple, with a mix of mocha, dark berry, cedar and black licorice notes, all coming together on the finish. The tannins keep the reverberating flavors in check. Drink now through 2026. Wine Spectator 92/100 Napa, California Lot 11 Above 6 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,635 BORDEAUX 1982 Chateau Grand Puy Ducasse ( 1-750 ml ) Tasted from magnum. Dark ruby-garnet in color. Rich and slightly stinky, with earth, currant and tobacco aromas. Medium- to fullbodied, with well-integrated tannins and a pretty currant flavor. Slightly short on the finish. Drink now. Wine Spectator 87/100 1989 Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou ( 1-750 ml ) Delivers lots of tanned leather and spices, with very ripe fruit, from dried strawberry to raisin, turning to jam. Full-bodied, offering a very fresh palate of exotic fruit, currant and raisin as well as silky and polished tannins. Wine Spectator 92/100 2005 Alter Ego de Palmer ( 1-1500 ml ) Dark in color, with intense, very ripe aromas of raisin, tar and licorice. Full-bodied, with loads of ripe tannins, wonderful dried fruit character and a long, superfruity finish. A lovely second wine from Palmer. Wine Spectator 92/100 Pauillac & St. Julien & Margaux, France Lot 12 Above 3 Bottles Lot Value $ 1,195 1995 Château Léoville Las Cases Pure violets, minerals and blackberries on the nose. Full-bodied, chewy and powerful. Still holding back a lot. This wine needs to break its chains. Give it time. Wine Spectator 95/100 St. Julien, France Lot 13 Above 5 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,575

2009 Chateau Palmer This is on another level from most in the appellation, with gorgeous layers of warm currant confiture, smoldering tobacco, licorice snap, warm paving stone and anise all framed by tarry but integrated grip. Stays sleek and well-defined through the finish. Should age beautifully. Best from 2015 through 2030. Wine Spectator 95/100 Margaux, France Lot 14 Above 3 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,550 1998 Château Margaux Shows a lightly taut feel, with plum skin and cherry pit notes melded into the core of damson plum, blackberry and mulled cherry fruit. Shows the estate's telltale black tea and lilac hints through the finish, with lovely grace and charm that wins out over the sinewy structure. Drink now through 2020. Wine Spectator 91/100 Margaux, France Lot 15 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,990 1995 Château Margaux ( 1 ) This still broods seriously, with dark plum, currant and blackberry fruit, studded with charcoal, singed tobacco and cedar notes and backed by a serious grip of roasted earth. The gorgeously long finish is driven by old-school tannins, with the smoldering edge going on and on. A Margaux with more charcoal than graphite, more austerity than elegance and more power than refinement. Drink now through 2034. Wine Spectator 97/100 1998 Château Margaux ( 1 ) Shows a lightly taut feel, with plum skin and cherry pit notes melded into the core of damson plum, blackberry and mulled cherry fruit. Shows the estate's telltale black tea and lilac hints through the finish, with lovely grace and charm that wins out over the sinewy structure. Drink now through 2020. Wine Spectator 91/100 Margaux, France Lot 16 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,270

1998 Château Margaux ( 1 ) Shows a lightly taut feel, with plum skin and cherry pit notes melded into the core of damson plum, blackberry and mulled cherry fruit. Shows the estate's telltale black tea and lilac hints through the finish, with lovely grace and charm that wins out over the sinewy structure. Drink now through 2020. Wine Spectator 91/100 2008 Chateau Latour ( 1 ) This is dense and muscular, but balanced, with the flesh to offset the sinew, as pure mulled black currant, melted fig and crushed plum fruit is caressed by substantial but fine-grained structure. The long, iron- and tobacco-filled finish has excellent focus and drive. This could rival LLC for longest-lived wine of the vintage. Best from 2013 through 2022. Wine Spectator 94/100 Margaux & Pauillac, France Lot 17 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,495 1999 Château Latour ( 1 ) Focused and fresh, with milk chocolate and berry aromas. Subtle and refined on the nose. Full-bodied and very elegant, featuring a solid core of ultrafine tannins and a long, long finish. So much finesse here. Still tight, needing time in the bottle to open. No longer big, this is in just the right proportions for the vintage. Wine Spectator 93/100 2002 Chateau Latour ( 1 ) Loads of ripe currants, licorice and toasted oak on the nose. Subtle yet impressive. Full-bodied, with a solid core of ripe fruit and chewy tannins. Big and juicy. Deep midpalate for a 2002. This is the wine of the vintage. A solid, classic Latour that needs bottle age. Best after 2015. Wine Spectator 96/100 Pauillac, France Lot 18 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,445 1999 Château Latour Focused and fresh, with milk chocolate and berry aromas. Subtle and refined on the nose. Full-bodied and very elegant, featuring a solid core of ultrafine tannins and a long, long finish. So much finesse here. Still tight, needing time in the bottle to open. No longer big, this is in just the right proportions for the vintage. Wine Spectator 93/100 Pauillac, France Lot 19 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,390

1967 Chateau Latour ( 1 ) ( Low Shoulder ) Mature now, this silky wine offers raisin, tobacco, mineral and slightly gamy flavors, and turns a bit dry on the finish. A good effort for the vintage, but needs drinking now. Wine Spectator 87/100 1977 Chateau Latour ( 1 ) Rather light and nearing full maturity, this offers cigar box, herbal and woodsy aromas and flavors. Supple on the palate, yet firm on the finish. Drink now. Wine Spectator 86/100 Pauillac, France Lot 20 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,350 1985 Chateau Mouton Rothschild ( 1 ) Surprisingly elegant, with lovely tobacco, cherry and berry aromas that blossom on the palate. Moderately soft tannins and a sweet, fruity finish. All finesse and ready to drink. Wine Spectator 89/100 1996 Château Haut Brion ( 1 ) Gorgeous aromas of crushed berries, cigar box, black licorice and tanned leather. Full-bodied, with fine silky tannins and a medium to long finish. Seems a little tight right now. Wine Spectator 93/100 Pauillac & Pessac, France Lot 21 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,970 1996 Château Haut Brion Gorgeous aromas of crushed berries, cigar box, black licorice and tanned leather. Full-bodied, with fine silky tannins and a medium to long finish. Seems a little tight right now. Wine Spectator 93/100 Pessac, France Lot 22 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,990

1991 Chateau Haut Brion ( 1 ) Firm in texture and impressively focused for the vintage, with smoky, tobacco-scented berry and floral flavors that linger on the finish. Wine Spectator 85/100 1996 Château Haut Brion ( 1 ) Gorgeous aromas of crushed berries, cigar box, black licorice and tanned leather. Full-bodied, with fine silky tannins and a medium to long finish. Seems a little tight right now. Wine Spectator 93/100 Pessac, France Lot 23 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,170 1999 Château Haut Brion Delivers cooked berries, with light cream aromas that turn to tobacco and cedar. Full-bodied, featuring big, yet well-integrated tannins and a chewy finish. Needs time still to mellow. Serious. Wine Spectator 92/100 Pessac, France Lot 24 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,850 2002 Château Cos d'estournel Has a plush edge, with plum skin and pulp flavors liberally lined with singed tobacco and alder notes. Shows ample maturity but remains very fine-grained, with a roasted bay accent emerging on the finish. Drink now through 2020. Wine Spectator 90/100 St. Estephe, France Lot 25 Above 6 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,950 2002 Château Cos d'estournel Has a plush edge, with plum skin and pulp flavors liberally lined with singed tobacco and alder notes. Wine Spectator 90/100 St. Estephe, France Lot 26 Above 6 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,950

RHONE 1998 Chateau Beaucastel Hommage Jacques Perrin Still a bit of a brute, as the Mourvèdre thoroughly dominates, with tar, pan-roasted liver, graphite and loam notes that hold sway over more typical Châteauneuf notes of currant, licorice, garrigue and mineral. This is very dense on the finish and still somewhat backward, so patience is required for this giant. Best from 2010 through 2032. Wine Spectator 97/100 Rhone, France Lot 27 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 3,700 1998 Chateau Beaucastel Hommage Jacques Perrin Still a bit of a brute, as the Mourvèdre thoroughly dominates, with tar, pan-roasted liver, graphite and loam notes that hold sway over more typical Châteauneuf notes of currant, licorice, garrigue and mineral. 2009 Domaine Jamet Côte Rôtie A stunner, with captivating damson plum, bitter cherry, blood orange and blackberry fruit all melded together and lined with savory, black olive, rosemary and saucisson sec notes. The finish delivers mouthwatering cut, with an iron frame that should carry this easily for two decades. A distinctive and singular expression of old-school Côte-Rôtie. Best from 2017 through 2030. Wine Spectator 97/100 Rhone, France Lot 30 Above 6 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 2,100 2001 E. Guigal Côte Rôtie La Turque This is still rather shuttered, with coffee and dark tarry grip up front holding the core of roasted fig, bay leaf, dark olive and anise in check. There's terrific underlying grip perfectly embedded in the fleshy fruit, and the length is very impressive, despite how tight this still is. Patience. Best from 2013 through 2030. Wine Spectator 96/100 Rhone, France Lot 31 Above 2 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,950 2007 E. Guigal St. Joseph Vignes de L'Hospice ( 3 ) Darkly toasty, with roasted vanilla and coffee aromas up front, followed by dense, polished blackberry and black currant fruit. Lots of graphite- and loam-filled grip frames the very long, dark fruit-filled finish. Best from 2011 through 2018. Wine Spectator 95/100 2008 E. Guigal St. Joseph Vignes de L'Hospice ( 3 ) Lovely violet, white pepper, black cherry and roasted tobacco aromas and flavors are supported by a mouthwatering chalky edge that cuts through the perfumy finish. Very nicely done for the vintage. Drink now through 2015. Wine Spectator 94/100 Rhone, France Lot 32 Above 6 Bottles ( 750 ml ) Lot Value $ 1,455
