MAJESTIC ALASKA Day 1 Arrival Whittier Your English speaking private driver/guide will pick your party up at the Whittier Cruise Ship Terminal for your transfer to Anchorage, Alaska. Enroute you will make a stop in Girdwood, Alaska. Once in Girdwood, enjoy a seven-minute scenic ride from The Hotel Alyeska to 2,300 ftin elevation and the top of Mt. Alyeska on the Alyeska Aerial Tram. From the Tram, you can see miles in all directions including views of the TurnagainArm, up to seven hanging glaciers and endless peaks deep into the Chugach Mountain range. At the Upper Tram Terminal, there is an observation deck providing even more breath-taking panoramic views of majestic mountains, hanging glaciers, sparkling streams, towering spruce, and an array of wildlife. Choose to have lunch on your own in Girdwood or once you arrive in Anchorage. Upon your arrival into Anchorage a stop will be made at Earthquake Park and Lake Hood, Alaska s largest seaplane base. Your Anchorage overnight stay will be at the Sheraton Anchorage. LAKE HOOD SEAPLANE BASE Day 2 Anchorage/Wasilla/Talkeetna After breakfast at the Sheraton Anchorage your private driver/guide will take you to the Alaska Zoo to see Alaskan animals up close. The Alaska Zoo sits on 25 acres of the Anchorage Hillside. It is a popular attraction in Alaska, with nearly 200,000 visitors per year. Next you will depart Anchorage and head North to Wasilla, Alaska where you will visit the Iditarod Trail Headquarters. This is a great place to stop in and learn about the historic race. There s a museum, gift shop, and, during the summer months option sled dog rides available if the dogs are at the headquarters and space is available. After Wasilla you will continue your drive North to the historic town of Talkeetna -an Indian word meaning "river of plenty" only 113 miles north of the metropolitan city of Anchorage, at the point where the Talkeetna and the Chulitna Rivers join the Susitna River. Choose to have lunch on your own in Wasilla or in route to Talkeetna. Your Talkeetna overnight stay will be at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. Set on a ridge above the small community of Talkeetna on the south side of Mt. McKinley, this lodge offers unforgettable views of Denali and the Alaska Range. Enjoy the view as you relax next to the 46-foot river rock fireplace or shop for Native art from villages across Alaska. Your Mountain Side rooms are located in the main lodge and have interior entrances. These rooms have north-facing views towards Denali and the Alaska Range. Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge Day 3 Talkeetna/Denali After breakfast your driver/guide will take you to the Talkeetna Rail Depot where you will board the Goldstar Rail Car for your journey to Denali. Your dome-level reclining seats can rotate to accommodate groups of four and let you share the experience with friends. A full-time bar attendant is available to those looking for libations. This rail car also has a private outdoor viewing deck -the only one of its kind! Dine in comfort in 36 dining room seats with views through picture windows. Your Denali overnight stay will be at the Grande Denali Lodge. The Grande Denali Lodge brings you genuine Alaskan hospitality, inviting accommodations and spectacular views! Located above the hustle of the highway, on Sugarloaf Mountain this property is designed with comfort and convenience in mind. Your first stop is the main lodge, where you will experience warm log architecture with a rock fireplace and vaulted ceilings. Day 4 Denali After breakfast at the Grande Denali Lodge you will board a tour bus for the Tundra Wilderness Trails Tour. This tour travels 53 miles into the park (one way) to the Toklat River rest area. Incredible scenery, a narrated history of the park road and some of the best opportunities to view the park's wildlife inhabitants await you on this tour. The Tundra Wilderness Tour will guide you along a spectacular road corridor, promising different experiences every day, as Denali's wildlife moves at its own pace and according to the seasons. A full view of Mt. Denali (McKinley) is a rare treat in Denali National Park and Preserve, and when visible, your tour will continue beyond the Toklat rest area to Stony Hill Overlook to provide truly awe-inspiring views of North America's highest peak (the Stony Hill Overlook option is not available prior to June 1st due to Denali National Park and Preserve Road conditions). The Tundra Wilderness Tour offers the Traveling 53 miles into the park (one way) to the Toklat River rest area, the Tundra Wilderness Tour offers a wonderful diversity for visitors. Day 5 Denali/Fairbanks After breakfast you will depart for Fairbanks, Alaska. A stop enroutewill be made at the Nenana Rest Area. Once in Fairbanks a stop for lunch on your own will be made. After lunch climb aboard the Riverboat Discovery. Cruise the great rivers of Alaska! This three-hour cruise will take you into the heart of Alaska and introduce you to a family who has made the rivers of Alaska a way of life for five generations. The Binkley family invites you to experience a slice of Alaskan life! This is more than just a boat ride. The Sternwheeler Riverboat Discovery is one of the most unique Alaskan experiences available.
