Upcoming Special Events Wine and Dine at Carvers April 13 Carvers Steaks & Chops at 11940 Bernardo Plaza Drive will be the scene of the April Wine and Dine dinner of the RB Newcomers Social Club. This will take place on Monday, April 13 starting at 5 PM. The menu includes Classic Caesar Salad (chilled romaine lettuce tossed in a homemade Caesar dressing with parmesan cheese and toasted croutons), a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage, and a choice of the following: Roasted Chicken (a chicken breast topped with a sun-dried tomato and pine nut butter, served with wild rice pilaf); Norwegian Salmon (baked with a light crust of mustard seed and fresh basil, served with wild rice pilaf); or Prime Rib (award winning, slow-roasted medium prime rib served Au Jus, accompanied by potatoes au gratin). Dessert is home-made cinnamon apple bread pudding with whipped cream. The cost for the dinner is $30.00 per person, including tax and gratuity. Cocktails and wine may be purchased separately. (Note that Carver s does not allow alcohol purchased in the Lounge to be brought into the Restaurant) Send checks to Chuck Schmitt, 27809 Sugar Pine Way, Hidden Meadows CA 92026-7332 by Tuesday April 7. Indicate your choice of entrée on the check. For further information, call Chuck at 760-297-1229. Happy Hour Get-together Welcome to our first Happy Hour get-together. Our first gathering will be on Sunday, April 12, at 4:30 pm. Please bring an appetizer to share and your beverage of choice. This differs somewhat from our wine groups as you may bring any beverage you desire water, juice, alcohol, beer, whatever you crave! Hostess: Where: Time: RSVP: Valerie Collins 17353 Plaza Maria, Rancho Bernardo 4:30-7:00 pm No later than Monday, April 6 @858-774-6517

Club Activity Groups Book/Movie Club: Please contact Maryalice Taflan (858-538-0846) if interested. In March, they will be discussing Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline and will meet on March 26 at 2 pm at the home of Maryalice Taflan, 12960 Calle de la Rosas (phone: 858-538-0846). Happy Get-Togethers: In even number months (skipping December), we will be having a happy hour get-together at a member's home or in a designated venue, usually on the first Sunday of the month. Like the Supper Club, the host/hostess can set the theme, timing and any other parameters. When the event is at a members' home, please bring an appetizer to share and your own beverage of choice (alcohol, beer, juice, soda, or wine). If you are interested in joining this group, please contact Valerie Collins @858-774-6517 or vcollins3@san.rr.com. Sunday Supper Club meets several times a year at members' homes. Each dinner party group is limited to eight, with some flexibility such as having some parties of 6, depending upon the number of people that sign up and can come on the designated date (Sunday evening of odd months at 5 PM). The host/hostess sets the theme and time and provides the entrée and accompanying wine. The "guests" would provide the appetizer with wine or cocktail, salad or cheese course with a wine pairing, and dessert with wine or after dinner drink--as desired. The supper party groups would differ from the wine groups in that they would be smaller and include a "sit down" dinner. It would be expected that each couple (or two singles) would take a turn at hosting the event. If you are interested, e-mail Suzanne Smith at ssmzzz@aol.com or call 858-217-6339. The Couples Bridge Group is open to new members. Our meetings in 2015 will be at 7 PM on the second Tuesday or third Wednesday of each month. Couples, including bridge only couples, are welcome to try one of our Couple's groups. Groups of four couples meet in members homes and rotate every four months so everyone can meet and play with each couple. A simple dessert is served. To join or to play as a substitute couple, call Mary Kay Kazemzadeh at 487-2750. Singles for Fun Bridge Group One meets at members homes on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 7 PM. Group Two meets at 7 PM on the first Monday of each month. We are in need of permanent bridge players and bridge subs for both groups. If interested, contact Madeline Zalaha for details at 487-3623. Both groups are fun groups. Mixed Golf Holey Niners Golf Group will meet at the Oaks North Golf Course on Sundays. In April, they will play on Sunday, April 19 at 1:00. The starters will be John and Barbara Whiteman; call them by April 12 at 619-540-7661 to join the group. The Old Bold Pilots will meet at 7:30 a.m. on the second Monday of each month at Denny s for a no-host breakfast with camaraderie. We welcome all former or current military and airline pilots only. Contact: Denny Shafer at 487-8247 if interested.

Join the Men s Lunch Bunch for luncheon and agenda discussion at the Bernardo Heights Country Club at 11:30 AM on the second Thursday of the month. Call Earl Chinn, Chair at 487-0434. Tennis Anyone? Join the tennis league. If interested, please contact Maurice Nahum at 716-9631 or mhuman@aol.com. Please advise the days and times available for play. Also advise if you are a member of the Oaks North Community Center and/or the RB Swim and Tennis Club. Wine Group Meeting Schedules Join a Wine Group. We have ten wine groups. Several of the wine groups have openings: Groups 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 and Singles 2. Contact Margaret Schmitt, our Wine Coordinator at 760-297-1229.
