Middlesbrough a Fairtrade Town Middlesbrough achieved the accolade of becoming a Fairtrade town back in 2007 and has continued to campaign and grow support for the Fairtrade movement. Fairtrade in Middlesbrough is managed by the Fairtrade Group, which is working hard to make Fairtrade products more accessible. Since 2009, we have seen an ever expanding range of products and outlets throughout Middlesbrough, with now over 60 places where Fairtrade products can be purchased and enjoyed. Fairtrade is about social justice and ensuring that developing countries grow in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way. Here are some top tips: Buy Fairtrade products as part of your shopping. If a shop doesn t stock the Fairtrade product you want, please ask them. Shops may be unaware of the demand for these items. Get your favourite cafe or your workplace to switch to Fairtrade refreshments. Tell your family, friends and neighbours about Fairtrade. When buying clothes, look for something made from Fairtrade Certified Cotton. Choose a fairly traded craft item for the next gift you buy, for example at Christmas, when there is a Fairtrade shop in Middlesbrough.
