2 Refreshing and healthy WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGULAR AND GREEK YOGURT? Regular plain yogurt is the base for the Greek yogurt. Regular yogurt can be bought at any store or made at home. Greek yogurt is made by letting the whey drain from the regular yogurt. This is why it is also called strained yogurt. Greek yogurt has a thicker consistency, contains more milk fats and is slightly creamy. HOW TO MAKE GREEK YOGURT WITH GORENJE JMG20W IN 5 EASY STEPS? 1. In a small container, prepare a mixture of milk (add 0.5 to 1 dl of regular plain yogurt to 1 litre of milk). Thoroughly stir the mixture. 2. Close the container with a lid and place it in the appliance. 3. Switch on the appliance by pressing the button on the control panel and let operate for 5 to 10 hours. The result is regular plain yogurt with liquid consistency. 4. To make Greek yogurt, place a colander over a large bowl and pour in the plain yogurt. 5. Cover the bowl with a lid and place in the refrigerator. Within 2 hours, delicious homemade Greek yogurt will be ready. Transfer the yogurt from the colander into a small container. Cover with a lid and store in the refrigerator. 2 h

Refreshing and healthy 3 HOW CAN WE SPEED UP AND IMPROVE THE OF GREEK YOGURT? 1. Heat the milk to 85 C; then let it cool to 35 C. Then, stir in the yogurt (milk) culture, pour the mixture into the small container and place it in the appliance. You can also heat the milk in the microwave oven. This will speed up the preparation and result in a thicker consistency of the yogurt. 2. Before placing the container with the milk and the milk culture in the appliance, pour a small amount of water in the appliance. This will speed up the preparation process. Make sure the level of water when the containers are in the appliance does not exceed the level of milk in the container. 3. Instead of heating the milk, thicker consistency can also be obtained by adding up to 7 tablespoons of powdered milk. TIP To make regular plain rather than Greek yogurt, we recommend using the large container at the start when making the milk and yogurt culture mixture. The large container will allow you to make more yogurt at a time. DID YOU KNOW? Yogurt can also be made from milk that does not contain any milk fats. Use soy, almond, rice, or coconut milk as the base. You do not have to buy milk cultures to make yogurt. You can simply add regular plain yogurt to milk. This also applies when making Greek yogurt. Do not discard the whey left over after straining the Greek yogurt. It is a treasure trove of nutrients and protein. Use it to make drinks and smoothies. Homemade yogurt does not contain preservatives or artificial additives. It will keep in the refrigerator for 8 to 10 days. IMPORTANT! If curdles appear in the yogurt, this is most likely a result of overheated milk. Boiling and exposure to direct heat cause thermal changes in milk proteins, which in turn cause the yogurt to curdle.

4 Refreshing and healthy RECIPES START YOUR DAY WITH GREEK YOGURT 2 SERVINGS 500 g Greek yogurt 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup 500 g frozen (or fresh) berries 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1. In a bowl, combine 450 g berries with honey or other sweetener and cinnamon. Mix until the mixture is smooth. 2. Distribute the Greek yogurt to bowls or cups and pour the fruit mixture over it. Use the remaining 50 g of berries to garnish. 3. Before serving, cool the dessert in the refrigerator. Symbolic photos.

6 Refreshing and healthy PANCAKES WITH GREEK YOGURT 2 SERVINGS 150 g Greek yogurt 1 egg 1 dl mineral water 1 tablespoon sugar or agave syrup 1/2 cup (whole wheat) flour 1/2 cup fresh raspberries and blueberries 1. In a bowl, combine yogurt with the egg and make a smooth mixture. Save some yogurt for garnish. 2. Add flour and mineral water, and stir in other ingredients. 3. Pour the thick mixture in small batches on a heated frying pan to make delicious pancakes. 4. Stack the pancakes on a plate and garnish with fruit and yogurt.

Refreshing and healthy 7 GREEK YOGURT WITH HONEY AND WALNUTS 3 SERVINGS 3 cups plain Greek yogurt 1 cup walnut kernels 1/2 cup walnut cake linseed or sunflower seeds 2 tablespoons honey 1. Distribute the Greek yogurt in cups or glasses. 2. Add the walnut kernels and seeds, and drizzle with honey. 3. Sprinkle with walnut cake (leftover after oil pressing) to garnish.

8 Refreshing and healthy BLUEBERRY SMOOTHIE WITH GREEK YOGURT 2 SERVINGS 1 cup plain Greek yogurt 1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries one glass orange juice mint leaves 1. Mix the fruit and the orange juice in a smoothie maker. 2. Add a cup of Greek yogurt. 3. Pour the drink into a glass and garnish with mint leaves.

Refreshing and healthy 9 TRADITIONAL GREEK TZATZIKI DIP SAUCE 3 SERVINGS 2 cups Greek yogurt 1 cucumber 2 tablespoons olive oil lemon juice 1 teaspoon chopped parsley or dill 1 teaspoon garlic powder a pinch of salt a pinch of pepper 1. Finely dice the cucumber. 2. In a bowl, add olive oil, lemon juice, herbs and spices to the Greek yogurt. Stir with a spoon to combine. 3. Add chopped cucumber. Before serving, cool the tzatziki in the refrigerator.

10 Refreshing and healthy CHICKEN MARINADE INGREDIENTS 1 cup plain Greek yogurt 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 teaspoon oregano 2 cloves garlic parsley 1 lemon salt pepper 1. In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, olive oil, chopped garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano. 2. Stir in grated zest of one lemon and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. 3. Add a fistful of fresh parsley and stir again. 4. Add the chicken meat to the marinade and let rest in the refrigerator for approximately half an hour.

Refreshing and healthy 11 REFRESHING POTATO SALAD WITH YOGURT DRESSING 2 SERVINGS 1/2 kg potatoes 1 cup Greek yogurt 1 red onion 1/2 cucumber 10 chopped olives 2 hard-boiled eggs 2 tablespoons chopped parsley leaves 1 tablespoon chopped mint leaves 1 tablespoon capers 1 clove garlic, pepper, salt 1. Peel, cube, and boil the potatoes. Let them cool down. 2. In a bowl, combine the boiled potatoes, chopped onions, olives, parsley, mint, and sliced boiled eggs. 3. To make the dressing, combine Greek yogurt with capers, salt, pepper, and chopped garlic. Add mustard to taste. 4. Gently stir the salad with the dressing and serve in small bowls.
