The sector consisting of all types of establishment providing food, drink or accommodation has grown significantly over the past decade and is currently crying out for qualified staff. If you believe you re in your element delivering a professional service, or if you thrive in a busy kitchen, Sussex Coast College Hastings is an excellent starting point for your career. You ll gain the knowledge and skills needed to prepare and serve hot and cold drinks in multiple settings. In order to practise making drinks in your own time, we suggest that you have access to an espresso machine. You will bake and decorate delicious recipes such as biscuits, buns or Simnel cake. Don t forget your aprons! A maximum of two children per adult, suitable for age 6 upwards. Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering Code: 14970 Start date: 19/10/2013 Time: 9am - 4pm Duration: 1 day Fee: 75 This Royal Society for Public Health accredited qualification equips food handlers, chefs, business owners or managers with the knowledge to maintain good practice in the safe handling, processing and preparation of food. You will learn the following: hot and cold desserts and puddings, biscuits, cake and sponge products, paste products and fermented dough products. VRQ Level 2 Food Preparation and Cooking Code: 3718 Start date: 24/09/2013 Time: 9am - 5.30pm Duration: 34 weeks Fee: 810 1/4/6/7 This course will suit well-motivated individuals who have an interest in becoming a chef in the hospitality industry. You will study a range of modules including: soups, vegetables, sauces, meat, poultry, fish, pastry, stores duties, customer care, hygiene and health and safety. Personal License Holders BIIAB Level 2 Award NEW Code: 14999 Start date: Roll on roll off Time: 9am - 3pm Duration: 1 day Fee: 150 This course is a nationally recognised qualification for anyone authorising the sale of alcohol on any premises. You will learn about current licensing legislation and policies. Coast Training Restaurant is a formal dining restaurant open to the public and staffed by our students. We cater for special event functions, individual reservations and, during the warmer months, offer a more casual style of dining on our glorious balcony.
