February 2016 Page 3 My 12 year Anniversary By Toni W. Employment Updates March 28, 2016 will mark a special day for me. It is my 12 year Anniversary at Home Depot. I started there in 2004 at the age of 20. I am now 31. I had a lot of ups and downs there and manage to break through them and overcome them. I ve seen a lot of my co workers come and go. I ve also seen some births of as we say new generations of home depot employees including mine. What I love about working at Home depot is that we are an equal opportunity work place and we all treat each other like family. For example: we have fundraiser to help fellow associate in need and when I had a hospital stay a lot of the associates came to see me and would call to check up on me. I also enjoy the cashier Olympics because they are so much fun I remember one year we were all zombies because the theme was Michael Jacksons thriller. I had the honor of teaching the dance cause I was the only one that new the whole dance in the store. A few years ago I was named the Garden Club Captain and this past September I was chosen by the whole store as the new part time Head waterier. This is an honor to me knowing that my co workers chose me out of anyone in the department. I feel honored. Employment Dinner Pictured above, our member Vinny shows off his very own copy of his book, The Goat and How it Died. This is a book of poems that Vinny has written over the years, and he uses a website to print his work and his graphic designs on various products like shirts, pins, mugs, etc. Keep doing great work, Vinny, your small business is going great! This month, we had another great employment dinner, with the help of members Donna and John, and staff John and Basilio! Another example of great team effort put forth by the Clubhouse crew!

The Clubhouse Connection Page 6 Activities Update! Taza Chocolate Factory This month, the Clubhouse got to go on a very special trip this month! We went to the Taza Chocolate Factory in Somerville. We got to take a tour and see how the made the chocolate from cacao bean to candy bar! This factory is a locally owned business, and the owners buy the cacao beans directly from the farmers in South America, allowing the farmers to make profit from it. The factory processes the cacao all the way from roasting and de-shelling the beans, using all the by-products and eliminating as much waste as possible, to wrapping the finished product and selling in their store and other local natural food stores! We got to sample all the chocolate, it was AMAZING!!!

Page 9 The Clubhouse Connection Next month, in April, we will be going to the Museum of Fine Arts; make sure you come in Wednesday March 23rd to sign up! If you went last time, consider letting others sign up that haven t been before, and then if there is room, maybe you can go too! In May, the Tootsie Roll Drive is coming up, May 16th thru May 22nd. We will need many volunteers to donate some time and hand out candy for the Knights of Columbus fundraiser. The more people we volunteer with, the more money we bring in to the Clubhouse! Last round, we made about $3,000! That s HUGE!! Ask a staff how you can participate. Coming soon, another Haverhill Clubhouse craft fair sometime in May! Keep an eye out for more information. If you re interested in participating and making crafts to sell, come to the Craft Fair Committee meeting at 10am on Mondays, or see staff Taylor.
