The airfield and museum are located just off Hwy 362 in Williamson GA. Activities are scheduled from 9 am - 4 pm. This is a family-focused event. Come dressed in period costume or come as you are. See the display of old cars and vintage planes. Enjoy the old-fashioned food and music. Admission is free with a $5 per car parking donation. All proceeds from food and beverage, raffles and other activities go to support the non-profit Museum at Candler Field. For more information about the Candler Field Museum, and the Vintage Days Event, visit www.peachstateaero.com or call 770-467-9490. VINTAGE DAYS best represents the Museum's continuing efforts to re- create the Original Atlanta Airport as it was in the 1920s. People who lived in the 1920s experienced a fascination with the emerging technology of both the Automobile and the Aeroplane. Barnstorming, air shows, and flying circus events were popular
forms of entertainment prior to the invention of TV. This year's events include a fashion show, an old-fashioned cake walk, and live music provided by THE SHOULDERBONE CREEK ORCHESTRA. Food and refreshments will be available all day including Barbecue, Hamburgers, Brats, and a full menu at Barnstormers Grill. Two raffles will be held that day - one for a cash prize of $1,000 ( $20 tickets ) and one for a 20 gauge shotgun donated by Autrey's Armory located in Fayetteville, GA.( $10 tickets). Raffle Tickets can be purchased on-line, or by calling 770-467-9490, or by visiting Barnstormers Grill. The Museum plans to remind folks how the Baby Ruth Candy Company once used airplanes to drop free candy bars as a form of advertising. The Museum will recreate the candy drop just like they did back then. Also, Vintage Day will have on display an authentic 1918 Curtiss Jenny biplane that has been under restoration. It will make its debut at the Festival. Plus, the newly donated 1928 WACO Bi-Plane will be present for this event. Biplane rides will be available in our Waco YMF-5 during this event or by appointment all year. If you would like to participate in the fashion show please contact Regina Alexander at gigibalexander@gmail.com To buy a ticket online CLICK HERE
Waco 10 will be on display. Weather permitting, it will fly. The 1918 Curtiss Jenny will be assembled and displayed during Vintage Day. This is something to see. It is a very rare airplane - the only one in the entire southeast.

FLABOB NEWS (news from our sister airport located in Riverside, CA) Flabob Aviators create Korean War Memorial by Jon Goldenbaum The Flabob Aviators are a group of our young people who have joined together to further their mutual interest in aviation. Most are students at our aviation high school, all are aspiring pilots and mechanics, several have already earned their private pilot license. Recently Planes of Fame, our warbird neighbors at Chino, decided to create a permanent memorial to Korean War vets at their world-class museum. Their idea was to mount a swooping F-86 on a pedestal behind a crashed Mig 15 in the dirt. The Flabob Aviators have volunteered to strip and paint both aircraft; currently the disassembled Mig is in a shop at Flabob and the young people are hard at work. Restoration and paint will be supervised by Flabob s own Hualdo Mendoza, our homegrown restoration expert. The Aviators have been given the task of researching North Korean and Ameri can period markings; they will select a specific Korean War American Ace and paint the F-86 to replicate his aircraft. The Aviators are enthusiastic about the project and plan to give a presentation on their work when they travel to Oshkosh this summer with the Flabob Express DC-3. HORSELESS CARRIAGE CLUB COMES TO THE CANDLER FIELD MUSEUM On Saturday, May 18th the Horseless Carriage Club will be arriving at Candler Field Museum for their annual outing. This is a great collection of really old cars - most of them older than Model A's. Take the time to come out and see these rare automobiles and talk with their owners. They will drive the autos from LaGrange, Georgia and arrive at Candler Field around noon. A quote from the Horseless Carriage Club - "In essence, all automobiles are Horseless Carriages, but HCCA has defined the Horseless Carriage as any pioneer gas, steam and electric motor vehicle built or manufactured prior to January 1, 1916. " We have come a long way in seven years!
This is a picture of Peach State Aerodrome right before we started building the museum. The first building.
Who remembers the old restaurant? We have accomplished much in a short period of time. Thanks to all the volunteers who made this happen. Here's to another seven years! CANDLER FIELD FLYING CLUB Spring has been busy at the Candler Field Flying Club. Good weather has brought us new members wanting to learn to fly. We were also able to accomplish our landscaping project for the club "Ready room". Under the leadership of Leo Roberson, and volunteers Drew Walker, Jeremy Clark, Bill Fowler, Bob Lindley, Toby Blanton, Robin and Max Maiden, the side entrance to our hanger was cleared and landscaped. Leo also added a rain barrel to collect water for watering the plants. Thanks for their efforts, the project turned out great. It really improved the looks of our ready room. Member Joe Benise brought his bobcat and graded the new parking lot for us. We then added some Railroad timbers and gravel which will give us a much better place to park. Many thanks to Joe for the use of the bobcat, he really did a great job. None of this could be accomplished without the efforts of our volunteers, so once again, many thanks. There's no better time to fly the spring, so come on down and join the club.
