Waffle Maker features Before using your Retro Diner Waffle Maker for the first time make sure that it is thoroughly clean and dry. Refer to the cleaning instructions on page 5 of this user guide. Before using your Waffle Maker Before using your Retro Diner Waffle Maker for the first time make sure that you: Remove the Waffle Maker from its packaging. Lid Catch Latch Clean the baking plates with a soft damp cloth and then thoroughly dry. Completely unwind the mains cable. Place the Waffle Maker on a dry level heat resistance surface away from any other appliances or objects. Always coat the baking plates with a little oil spray before every use. Your Retro Diner Waffle Maker is now ready to use. Premium Non-Stick Baking Plates Operating your Waffle Maker 1. Ensure your Waffle Maker is clean and dry. 2. Position your Waffle Maker on a flat surface or table close to a plug socket. Top & Bottom Casing Power (red) & Ready (green) Lights 3. Plug the power lead into a suitable plug socket; this will automatically turn the machine on. 4. Close your Waffle Maker and pre-heat it for a few minutes. The green and red lights will be illuminated indicating that the machine is preheating. When the green indicator light switches off the machine is ready to use. 5. Once ready to use make sure that each plate has been coated with an oil spray. REMEMBER that the baking plates are very hot; DO NOT touch these with your hands. 6. Add one ladle sized amount of waffle batter and pour into the centre of the bottom baking plate, the mixture will gradually move and fill out the remaining cavities. DO NOT overfill each cavity as the mixture will expand and damage the appliance. 7. Carefully close the lid and clip shut the latch and allow your waffle to bake for 6-8 minutes. During cooking the temperature regulating thermostat maintains an even temperature. You may therefore notice the indicator flickering. 9. Cleaning your Waffle Maker Follow these simple steps to clean and maintain your Waffle Maker after each use: 1. Turn your Waffle Maker OFF by unplugging it from the mains. 2. Allow the machine to completely cool down. 3. Clean the top and bottom casing with a soft damp cloth and then dry with a kitchen/ paper towel. 4. Open the Waffle Maker and wipe away any excess mixture on the baking plates with a soft damp cloth and then dry with a kitchen/paper towel. Make sure that both the top and bottom baking plates are thoroughly cleaned and dried. 5. Once your Waffle Maker is clean and dry it is ready to be packed back in its box ready for the next use. 6. Make sure to NEVER immerse the Waffle Maker in water, other liquids or use in a dishwasher. There is danger to life due to risk of electric shock and will also damage the appliance. 7. When cleaning NEVER use abrasive cleaning agents or sharp objects (e.g. scrubbing brush or a knife) for cleaning. Recipes Plain Waffles Ingredients: 250g of plain flour 20g of caster sugar 270ml of milk 2 eggs 25ml of vegetable oil 2 teaspoons of baking powder 1 teaspoon of salt The mixture will make approximately 6 large waffles or 30 mini heart shaped waffles. Instructions: 1. Place the flour, caster sugar, baking powder and salt into a large mixing bowl and mix thoroughly. 2. In a separate bowl beat together the eggs and milk. 3. Add the egg and milk mixture, as well as the vegetable oil to all of the dry ingredients and mix together thoroughly until all the lumps have disappeared. 4. Pre-heat your Retro Diner Waffle Maker by plugging the power lead in to a mains socket. 5. Spray both the bottom and top baking plates with a little spray oil. (This eliminated any chance of the mixture sticking to the plates). 6. Use one ladle of your waffle mixture and gently pour to the centre of the bottom plates. The mixture will spread to the edges itself. DO NOT use more than one ladle of mixture as it will expand with cooking and will damage the latch if overfilled. 7. Close the lid (making sure that the latch is secure). 8. Leave for 6-8 minutes and check to see if your waffles are cooked as per the instructions on page 4. Once you are happy that your waffles are cooked switch off the machine by unplugging the power lead and mains socket and leave to cool down for a couple of minutes before removing with a wooden or plastic utensil. 9.
