There is a right time when adding food is the next business venture What should you consider? In 1995, We started with making Candy and Caramel Apples In 2000 We put out a novelty ice cream freezer just to add something easy to grab In 2002, With PYO going, We realized we needed to Add drinks, popcorn and some bagged chips In 2003 We added Hotdogs off a table top unit
THE EVOLUTION CONTINUES In 2006 We decided we need to dabble in some grilled food In that same year we added Ice cream and having a small ice cream parlor. Bought Our soft serve machine for $1000 used. Seeing that food was becoming very popular and realized We need to change, We purchased the Hen House Hen House #1 Added In 2008 16 Concession Trailer Grill, 2 Small fryers, 2 Eye burners, Freezer and Refrigerator, 3 Compartment Sink It also had a funnel cake fryer THE HEN HOUSE HEN HOUSE PICTURES THE IT WAS TIME FOR THE NEXT BIG CHANGE Hired Scott in 2011 1 st thing We looked at from coming the restaurant industry was the food products and menu. CIDER MILL WHAT S NEXT? Built and placed into service in 2015. Placed in existing building, yet required extensive renovations and upgrades. Made profitable use of over 110 bins of drop apples. Combined with educational tours. Added to on farm experience for guests. Future Goals: Utilize more of our home grown fruits and vegetables in our food offerings for both in store sales and ready to eat sales. Reduce waste and shrinkage by utilizing 2 nd quality produce in food production. Offer more food concession areas. Needed to Achieve Goals: A new very large commercial kitchen. A new and significantly larger farm store. A new PYO building with rest rooms and concession area. Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.
