2012 QANTAS WINE SHOW OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA 2012 is the 35 th year of judging at the Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia, Mount Barker. The Committee would like to express special thanks to all those who have contributed to the success of the Show over the years. The Show and the industry in Western Australia have grown together and in many ways have complemented each other in their continual expansion. The Committee continues to be grateful for the long-standing support of the Wine Show s major sponsor, Qantas, and the Best Wine of the Show will again earn its producer a trip for two to London a marvelous reward to aim for. To all sponsors we say welcome on board. All those involved with the Show are urged to make every endeavor to support our sponsors. Without their input, there would be no show. The Wine Show Committee is pleased to acknowledge the continued support of the Hyatt Regency Perth, the venue for the Awards Dinner, to be held on Friday 26 October. The Top 50 Tasting will be held prior to the Dinner on Thursday 25th October at the Hyatt Regency Perth and those eligible to show their wines at this tasting will be contacted after judging has been completed. The Committee will require a case of the chosen wine, along with tasting notes and an electronic label. The event will include a Silent Auction of selected wines. The aims of the Show remain unchanged to judge Western Australian wines against their peers to Australian standards. We have assembled a strong judging line up from around Australia, led by renowned judge and wine consultant, Nick Bulleid (ACT), with panel leaders Ben Edwards (Vic), Kim Horton (WA) and Arch Kosovich (WA). We also welcome international wine judge and educator Fongyee Walker to our team this year. For more information on the judging panels, please visit the website at www.wineshowwa. com.au. The Exhibitors Luncheon will be held at Plantagenet Wines immediately following the Exhibitors Tasting on Friday 5 October in Mount Barker. Tickets will be limited so pre-purchase is recommended. See your entry form. Please read the schedule carefully as changes have been made to classes and regulations. All dates and deadlines are strictly adhered to, especially close of entries at 5pm on Friday 7 September 2012. Delivery can be made to listed depots between 12-19 September for free transport to Mount Barker. You may also send your wine direct to Southern Haulage, Mount Barker until Wednesday 26 of September. Please mark cartons clearly with Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia. 4

2012 QANTAS WINE SHOW OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA GENERAL REGULATIONS HYATT REGENCY CONSUMER CHOICE AWARD AND THE TOP 50 TASTING The Committee has been very proud of the high standard of judging of show entries and it would seem appropriate that the discerning consuming public should have an opportunity to taste the top wines of the show. The Hyatt Regency Perth will again host the Top 50 Tasting and the Committee strongly endorses this event. The Tasting of the Top 50 Wines of the Show will be held on Thursday 25 October 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Perth. 2012 will be the third year that the Hyatt Regency will host the Consumer s Choice Best White and Red Wine. A select group of consumers and celebrities, led by Ray Jordan will taste the Top 50 wines and selected a Best Red and Best White Trophy winner. This event will be held on Wednesday 24 October, with the winner announced at the Awards Dinner. If your wine is in the Top 50 pointed wines you are asked to contribute one case of that wine for tasting and an electronic copy of the label of the selected wine. Should additional wine be required, the Hyatt will purchase the wine at an agreed price. Please indicate on your entry form if you agree to participate in both the Consumer Choice Awards and the Top 50 Tasting 18
