This newsletter is produced by St. Madeleine's students in the Theresa & Edward O'Toole Foundation Adaptive Computer Learning Center. April 2014 Sophie s Gazette St. Madeleine s Community Garden Our consumers currently maintain an organic community garden called New Roots Fresh Farm. This project, organized by the International Rescue League, has proven an excellent outreach for our consumers and a bridge to the greater community. Three times a week, four hard working consumers and a job coach maintain every aspect of planting, growing and harvesting. The project s goal is to supply our kitchen with fresh produce on a weekly basis. Aven Halcomb, one of our dedicated gardeners says, I like the community garden. I do weeding, watering and plant new plants. I also help harvest lettuce, carrots, cabbage, spinach and kale. I like working in the community garden because it is relaxing and fun. I hope you guys like the vegetables I help bring. The Community Garden Coordinator, Ann Baron, recently commended our workers for their efforts and commented that the garden is just beautiful.
