Mas Malo Private Events Policies & Information DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS A deposit of $250 is required to secure space for private events or reservations of 15 or more. The deposit will be processed in the form of a gift card; which will be applied towards the final amount on the day of the event. The person/company listed on the contract is financially responsible for all charges including any advance deposits due, as noted on the confirmation and event contract. SERVICE CHARGE & SALES TAX All events are subject to our current service house charge and sales tax. The service house charge is computed on the final food and beverage consumption. Food, beverage, service charge and miscellaneous fees are subject to the current California state sales tax. Our current service charge is 22% and California s current sales tax is 9%. CANCELLATION POLICY If you cancel your event 72 hours before it is scheduled, we will give you the gift card (which can be used at any time they never expire). If you cancel within 72 hours, we keep the gift card. MENU SELECTION & PRICES Prices quoted for banquet menus are firm for 30 days only. Beyond 30 days, prices are subject to change without notice. Prices agreed to on a signed Contract are binding. Your menu/wine selections must be provided to the event planner or Mas Malo Management at least seven (7) days prior to your event date. Mas Malo reserves the right to change or substitute menu items if necessary, to ensure quality and freshness of food items. GUARANTEE Final attendance must be specified to the event manager no later than three (3) working days prior to the event. This number will be considered a minimum guarantee and is not subject to reduction. If we are not notified within the time specified above, the estimated attendance will be considered the guarantee. Final charges will be applied based on the guaranteed attendance or actual attendance, whichever is greater. Mas Malo is not responsible for more than 5% above the final guaranteed guest count without adequate notice. Mas Malo does not set for 5% over the guaranteed for events with entrée selections and buffets. WEEKEND EVENTS An opening or facility use fee will be charged for all weekend functions. There is a room rental fee required for weekend events. They are as follows: The Cantina Room - $1,000 The Mezzanine - $750 The Tequila Tasting Room - $250 Buy Outs - $3,000- $5,000
SECURITY Mas Malo does not assume responsibility for the loss or damage to items or articles left at the restaurant prior to, during or following a function. PHOTOGRAPHY/ADVERTISING Mas Malo does not allow videotaping, photography, recording or using Mas Malo as a reference in any publication without the prior written permission from the General Manager. The General Manager must also approve use of the Mas Malo s name and address for any purpose. FOOD TASTINGS Mas Malo will provide a complimentary tasting for 2 people for confirmed events that have a guaranteed attendance of 100 or more guests. Food tastings may be scheduled no earlier than 20 days prior to the event date. An advance notice of 10 working days minimum is required for all tastings otherwise we will not be able to accommodate your request. FOOD AND BEVERAGE Due to health standards and insurance liabilities, guests may not bring food and/or beverage of any kind into Mas Malo. All food and beverage must be supplied by Mas Malo. When serving alcoholic beverages, Mas Malo reserves the right to request proper identification from private event guests. DECORATIONS Only decorations discussed in advance with the Private Events Office are allowed in order to prevent damage to fine fixtures and furnishings. Items may not be attached to any stationary wall, window or ceiling. Guests will take responsibility for any damage to the rooms or any other parts of the restaurant caused by their guests, invitees, independent contractors and other agents.
Event Space: The Cantina: The Cantina has a more private and intimate setting with a separate entrance and can accommodate up to 80 guests for a seated lunch or dinner and up to 120 guests for receptions. The Tequila Vault: The Tequila Vault has a more intimate and private setting and can accommodate up to 12 guests. Great space for a private meeting Customized Tequila tastings can be added on to any party size! The Main Floor: The Main Floor along with all other event spaces can accommodate up to 300 guests for sit down lunch/dinner or receptions.
