To see it blended with the fragrant, floral Colombard was a risk. However, this wine is simply delicious. Light in alcohol (it s 11.5%), the wine bur sts with grapefruit and tropical fr uit. Dangerousy moreish, ever yone who tries this wine absoutely loves it, without exception! Soave DOC 27.95 Dal Cero, Italy, Veneto Artesa Rioja Blanco is made from 100% unoaked Viura. Clean, fresh and attractive nose showing hints of ripe peach and pear. Ripe, round and almost creamy palate cut through with a refreshing streak of zesty acidity. A good match for pasta or seafood.
Susumaniello 29.95 Masseria Liveli, Italy, Puglia A fantastic bargain deal, the Susumaniello Askos offers a great taste of one of Puglia s break-out indigenous grapes. The variety with the singsongy name delivers loads of luscious red fruit with cherry and blueberry in pole position. Askos sees nine months of oak and those added notes of spice, tobacco and leather are well integrated within the greater fleshiness of the grape. The finish shows light touches of cola, balsam herb and licorice. If you ve never tried Susumaniello, Askos is a great place to start. Robert Parker 91 Calicanto 33.95 Vina el Principal, Chile, Maipo Valley Rich aromas of wild strawberries are supported by plenty of ripe fruit on the palate and a very good structure, despite the wine s lightness.
