A PROJECT A UNIQUE, DINING AND CULTURAL DESTINATION NESTLED ALONG THE BELTLINE IN ATLANTA'S CHARMING GRANT PARK NEIGHBORHOOD
THE BEACON ATLANTA STORY When you think of great American cities, famous markets woven into each city s way of life come to mind: Seattle s iconic Pike Place Market, San Francisco s diverse Ferry Building Marketplace, Boston s historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and Washington, DC s eclectic Eastern Market are examples of shopping, dining and cultural destinations so connected to living in their city as to be indispensable. The Beacon Atlanta is poised to add the capital of the South to that illustrious list. The Beacon Atlanta will become the next significant lifestyle destination along the Atlanta Beltline, nestled into a stretch on the highly anticipated Southside Trail. The district will be not only a respite for active Beltliners, but also a part of daily life for its Grant Park neighbors and a draw for all Atlantans seeking a unique cultural experience. The Beacon Atlanta will be a model for inspired urban living. The Beacon Atlanta represents a $20 million revitalization of six old industrial warehouses into the cornerstones of a walkable, 9-acre district within blocks of Zoo Atlanta. Comprising 110,000 square feet, The Beacon Atlanta will offer a unique mix of day and evening activities in what developer Philippe Pellerin refers to as a layered neighborhood experience. The first layer is designed to bring daily conveniences into the Grant Park neighborhood: an interval training gym, full-service recreational and competitive gymnastics school, chiropractic and wellness center, a nursery school, hair and nail salons, a personal trainer, and a dance and performing arts academy. The Beacon Atlanta also offers a unique place to work: loft office space, creative space for local artists, and artisanal food and beverage production facilities making delicacies like chocolate, cheese, kombucha tea, cold brew coffee, nut milk and craft beer. Eateries and a food market will offer workers and visitors a variety of food and beverage choices. In the evening, the experience expands, adding more culinary and cultural opportunities for those who come. Restaurants range from family-oriented eateries to destinations for the foodie crowd. In Grant Hall, on-site tasting rooms sprinkled with artisanal food, brews and chefs including chocolate, cheese, coffee, tea, and craft beer will serve light fare. An artists walk that boasts working studios during the day converts to storefronts where creatives sell their collections. And an intimate music venue will offer a stage for indie rock musicians to to play in front of small audiences. "The overall feel of The Beacon Atlanta is more typically European, says Pellerin. It s a cultural center and a place where artistry comes to life. I want families to enjoy dinner and a night out, and for it to be a special place to bring a date or out of town guest. Most tenants are local businesses with successful locations elsewhere in the city, while others from New York, the West and Gulf Coasts will bring new offerings to the city. Those from out of town view The Beacon Atlanta as a unique opportunity to expand into the Atlanta market. I am passionate that this project not only revitalize an almost forgotten part of the neighborhood, but that it also provide a venue for a curated blend of businesses to grow, says Pellerin. The first leases have been signed, with additional Letters of Intent in place. Construction is set to begin in late 2016, with a planned opening in the late summer of 2017.
