September newsletter Our first selection is a New Release, our Oak Mountain Cavewoman Red. A fruit forward wine that is a GSM blend. Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. Well balanced with a smooth finish. You can even use similar pairings that would come with a Cabernet Sauvingnon. Red meats and game will go well with Cavewoman Red. Also, mushroom and pepper sauces will work well with this wine. Next is our estate grown 2017 Oak Mountain Sauvignon Blanc. The wine opens with complex aromas of lime leaf, pink grapefruit, green apple, lemon grass, honeysuckle, and wet stone. Refreshing, forward, zesty flavors of lime, lemon, grapefruit, white peach, and passion fruit follow with bright acidity. The finish is long and full with hints of lime and minerals Our next selection is our 2014 Oak Mountain Estate Pinotage. Our Estate Pinotage is a succulent wine with rich aromas of banana, mocha coffee, and toffee carried by a smooth and delicate palate delivering plum and nutty flavors. This wine pairs well with gamey meat dishes, goat, veal, lamb, and all types of sausage. Next is our estate grown 2014 Oak Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is intense and perfumed with black current and sweet herbs. A rich and layered wine that is abundant with bold fruit flavors and subtle nuances of toffee, espresso, and dark chocolate. Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with Filet Mignon, Lamb, Blue Cheese, or try it with one of our Bison Burgers. Up next, we have a special treat for you to enjoy, our 2012 Oak Mountain Zinfandel. One of our library wines. Zinfandel is known to be the genetic equivalent to the Primativo grape. Originally grown in the heel of Italy. The grape somehow made its way over to the United States in the mid 19thcentury and became known as Zinfandel. In our 2012, you will find aromas of plum, red cherry, dark fruits, spice, a touch of oak and vanilla. This wine pairs well with Prime Rib and baked ham. Goes great with Cheddar cheese Next is our estate grown 2015 Oak Mountain Mourvedre. The smell of Mourvedre is an explosion of dark fruit, flowers, and herbaceous aromas of black pepper and thyme with hints of tarragon and dried herbs. Mourvedre is a meaty and full bodied red wine that pairs well with beef short ribs, pork shoulder, lamb, rabbit, pork sausage and stuffed mushrooms. Our next selection is our 2014 Oak Mountain Estate Malbec. This Malbec is a delicious wine with flavors of blackberry, cranberry, white pepper, and spice with toasty vanilla an violets. This wine has smooth tannins, a velvety texture and a long, lingering finish. Our Malbec really pairs well with grilled or barbequed meats and its also great with beef empanadas, pizza, or a hearty vegan dish.
Next is our estate grown 2017 Temecula Hills Viognier. The wine is refreshing on a hot summer afternoon or for any occasion. With your first sip, you will enjoy the tropical qualities of this crisp wine with a hint of grapefruit in the finish. This Viognier pairs well with seafood bisque or crab cakes, pork or tropical moderately spiced foods like satays and coconut milk curries. Our next selection is our 2017 Oak Mountain Estate Chardonnay. You can pick up apple, pineapple, honey, vanilla, as well as roasted flavor that really fill the mouth. Our Chardonnay is lightly oaked with French Oak imparting flavors of vanilla, butterscotch, crème brule, and caramel. This Chardonnay would pair will with fresh and lively foods like Baja fish tacos or heavier foods that need a bit of a high note lift such as roasted trout or chicken. Next is our estate grown 2016 Oak Mountain Muscat. Our Muscat Canelli is a refreshing white wine with aromas and flavors of candied ginger, white peach, with a crisp citrus finish. Its sweetness is perfectly balanced by its crisp acidity. Muscat Canelli pairs well with fresh fruit and fruit-based desserts, blue cheese or spicy dishes. Your next selection is our estate grown 2017 Oak Mountain Roussanne. A fresh, slightly dry Roussanne exuding apricot, honey, and baked pear aromas, which give way to a palate showing nice minerality and crisp acidity. This wine spent a short time in French Oak lending a slight buttery quality. Try this wine with seafood dishes, especially shellfish. Also pairs well with roasted chicken, pork, and most cheeses. Up next is a unique blush, our 2017 Oak Mountain River Rhodes. This dark red Syrah grape is harvested and immediately pressed to create this blast of strawberries and tropical nuances in the nose with a smooth wild berry character on the palate. Try this offering with smoked meats and cheeses, crusty breads, almonds, and olive tapenade. The final selection is our Sparkling Cinful. This refreshing sparkling wine is made with our estate Cinsault grapes. It is full bodied and has heady strawberry aromas. This wine tastes like raspberry and cherry with just a touch of spice. A delicious sinful treat when paired with grilled meats and veggies. Made and bottled right here in Temecula.
Billing and Shipping Dates to Remember Your credit card will be billed on August 23 rd 2018. You may add additional wines to your shipment or customize your selections by emailing our Wine Club Manager at lisa@oakmountainwinery.com before August 17 th 2018. Please note that special requests made after the 17 th may not be changed prior to the billing date. If you have selected to PICK UP your wine, Club Shipments will be available at the winery after August 23 rd. If you have Selected to have your wine SHIPPED, your orders will be leaving our winery on Monday, August 27 th and tracking information will be sent to the email address that we have on file.
