Besides Laurina, this property produces others Arabica coffees like Mundo Novo and Catuaí. Due to the altitude and the care shown towards the coffee trees throughout the year, this farm frequently receives quality awards from the Brazilian Coffee Association and is certified UTZ. The Laurina is a varietal of Bourbon and produces low caffeine coffee. The São Gabriel farm started growing coffee in 2000,with an area of 4 ha and 5,000 coffee trees. The farm uses terraceamento (terracing) to grow the coffee between flat streets on a sloped hill and has an average altitude of 1,100 meters. As Laurina comes from the Bourbon variety, the plants are quite sensitive to disease, have a low yield and require greater care to maintain than other Arabica coffees. The coffee is therefore more expensive to produce per ha. The São Gabriel farm currently has 10 ha planted with Laurina, producing on average 160 bags of sorted coffee per year. In terms of cup quality, the coffees produced by São Gabriel consistently reach between 80 and 82 points, depending on the year.
